Honestly that's part of why it's so sad and dangerous when the developmentally disabled interact with police. These actors did a good job of portraying a good interaction, even though they're still things that they did I disagree with. But like the brother said because of his functioning level it's easier to compare them to a adult sized kid than it is an adult. and you have to recognize that even though he's holding a knife it's not as sinister as it would be if it was an adult of average developmental ability

Each mental health is diffrent. Each mental health patients have a diffrent level of age and issues. Like some can be very kiddish, some is not the right age group, or last but not least think as the same age as they are. Some dont relize they got mental health and others not so much. I didnt know but I did find out I had it by family members and docters. People can be uncomfterable or dont understand mental health issues. Like a example when someone talks to themselfs. First thought they are crazy and stay away. When in reality not all of them are dangerous. Its just they way are. Anouther one would be bipolar. Usually when people hear it or see a maniac episose. They think the person is crazy. When in reality they have no control of thier emotions and just reacts. Evan being in the same mental health group thier can be a spectrum. Some grows out of it and others never get rid of it. It can be caused by evirement, genetics, etc. Its diffrent for each person who goes threw mental health, thier expriences, thier thoughts, the way it affects them.

Honestly I know they were doing their best to show a realistic portrayal of what would happen or at least what they think should happen. But what frustrates me about the scene with Tyson is if you watch closely he wasn't raising the knife to them. He's raising his hands like they told him to and he happened to be holding the knife. I know these situations are tricky but if they hadn't immediately reacted the way they did and recognize the fact that he was trying to comply with their demands, the situation with deescalated far a quicker than it did. Part of why he got more agitated was then raising their guns, but also part of it was his confusion. He did what they said but they were still mad at him.
@KS-xk2so Жыл бұрын
Police are trained to deal with things a certain way. They see a knife, they react a certain way. Does it sometimes make things worse? Sure. That being said, the idea that they should instead try to ponder about whether the knife is actually a threat to them every time they see it would just lead to a lot of deaths in the end, as MOST times someone raises a weapon to them, it'll be to do violence. Law of averages. This is a great example of why a cop ISN'T who should be called to deal with something like this where a person is mentally challenged in some way. Unfortunately, our current system doesn't have a better option.

I feel worse for the kid. He lost both parents. The dad made the bad choice, the kid didn't. (They should just let him go, but it's his fault)
