@flpete Someone who knows that apart from God they are a "dead dog" as David said. A man of God must be a child, a helpless child, totally reliant upon the Lord. As Paul said in 2 Cor 12:9, when we are weak we are strong. The weakest men are the strongest because they are finding their strength in Christ and not in self. A man of God is a man of prayer, a helpless child going to His father hourly for help, needy, very needy, because he can do nothing apart from the Lord.

@christologist If i understand your question correctly, we need to seek forgiveness whenever we are aware of sin in our lives. The work for the forgiveness is complete. All that lacks is the asking. It is a constant thing because every day of life usually brings us into contact with some sin. To continue in sin because we know we are forgiven is a terrible thing. Hate sin, condemn it and turn away from it. This repentance is sorely needed.

Paul Washer is very wise. An elder in my sister's church confessed from the pulpit that he struggled with porn, and would watch it when out of town on business. My sister had some issues with this man and the porn thing was a huge stumbling block to her. He was remiss in confessing something like that to a whole congregation, especially us women who don't understand it.

@Charbarhousemusic I agree. Righteousness is of God, not of man. He is piling on himself condemnation, which will lead to more sin. This is a recipe for disaster. He would do better to thank God for His love and for his continued help in areas where he struggles. Let the Holy Spirit search out his heart daily. Thank Jesus for being beaten and nailed to the cross in our place. Or was his sacrifice for us not enough, not complete? GRACE, right believing produces right living.
