Also, the Jack Maddox scene is not fully canon with the original comic books. It's actually a mini comic. As someone who thought Imogen was my straight rep for the show, I actually really respected the show's decision to make her not only attracted to women, but a comp het lesbian at that. Looking back on the previous seasons the writing was on the wall lmao and I wish we got to see more of her journey to this discovery on screen rather than in the background, but it's still an underrepresented part of lesbian representation I've seen in media. I ESPECIALLY loved the extra touch of her and Sahar not getting into a relationship but still being apart of each other's sexuality journeys. Even as someone rooting for them to get together, the decision to stay good friends was honestly really sweet cause imo rushing into a relationship after such a big discovery wouldn't really give Imogen a chance to truly explore her new identity 😊

First, happy birthday month Rizzo. Second, I appreciate how they explored the different sexualities, but didn’t exploit or fetishize teenage characters to do it. Third, I watched videos whee therapists watch episodes with therapy scenes and always rant about how unrealistic and unprofessional they are. I like how Heart-stopper shows what therapy should be. I liked how Nick’s aunt and Charlie’s therapist speak to them with empathy and compassion. They listen to them and try to guide them without (lack of a better term) forcing them to do anything. They still have their own autonomy throughout the process. Fourth, I am glad Tori found someone who gets her and I think it is realistic that it takes time to find that person, whether it is romantically or with a friend. Just a sweet and wholesome show.
@PinkPopcastАй бұрын
Yeah, I can’t believe I didn’t mention it in the reaction, issues when you’re watching something for the first time, but as someone has been to therapy myself, this show does do an excellent job of showcasing the mundane yet helpful aspect of incorporating Therapy into your life. A few years later, I ended up coming out to one of my teachers, then coming out to my parents. Now I own all of the volumes and they are all displayed on my bookshelf. Honestly, Heartstopper has helped me so much throughout my teenage years. Tara and Darcy inspired me so much, and seeing Imogen go through the same thoughts and feelings as me makes me so emotional. I also thought that dating boys would make me happy and not as lonely, but it was mainly pressure, and all the feelings for boys were actully platonic. I love this series with all my heart

34:38 this portrayal to generational trauma is pretty accurate, even if it is brief. i’m not 100% sure so someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I think in the comics it’s hinted at that Charlie’s mom’s mom may have been more on the abusive side when it comes to being overbearing. it’s been a while since i’ve read that comic but i remember the negative and abusive vibes that it gave me when she was remembering how her mom was with her. so, she’s definitely an improvement when compared to her mother and it makes sense that she’s afraid of becoming like her. also I do like how in this season you can kind of understand where she’s coming from instead of what she’s saying not making sense or being too harsh. she could’ve rephrased it a little or changed her tone, but you could tell that it was from genuine worry. she’s come a long way from seasons 1 and 2 for sure. I love watching your reaction videos and seeing you guys’ take on it! You guys are so funny and the environment/vibes feel like I’m rewatching the show with friends :)

In Jane and Julio Springs love story it is told her mum is actually quite emotionally abusive to her and I think also dislikes Jane (Charlie’s mother) In the heartstopper comics tho it seems she was also physically abusive at times too!
@yowhoevenamiАй бұрын
@@bananabree thank you for confirming! like i said i wasn’t completely sure but i did remember seeing something that hinted at physical as well as emotional/mental abuse
@hollymclАй бұрын
The hint is there in the show too. If you are fortunate enough to lack personal experience with abuse it's easy to miss, because Alice and Patrick didn't want anything in the show to be triggering for survivors, so they kept it subtle. (The same goes for Charlie's relapses, which are arguably a little too subtle in the show.) But if you're paying attention to the dynamic there, it's not too hard to fill in what Jane didn't say when she tells Charlie, "she was never very nice to me, and sometimes she........well, anyway."
@J_Mock92Ай бұрын
I love this show. I really appreciated how the sex-scenes were shot. They felt cinematic and romantic, but also realistic in a way. Sex can be awkward enough between adults, and the way they smile and giggle at each other really just shows the nervousness and simultaneous excitement that goes with it, particularly when it's your first time as a teenager or still generally a new experience. I also like how they show hints of that same thing between Darcy and Tara, but it's more playful and less nervous, because they're more experienced and have already been having sex for longer. I'm glad that Tao opened up to Charlie about how sex isn't always this perfectly beautiful, cinematic thing, and that you just have to figure things out, and if it gets awkward you can just laugh about it and move on. It's a good message to send to young people (or really anyone), because there's such an emphasis on having sex when you're young, but there's also this weird stigma about sex being "dirty" or shameful that's hard to navigate (particularly amongst LGBTQ+ youth). In reality, it's just another form of intimacy that people should be able to experience as little or as much as they feel comfortable with, when they feel ready with a partner who's on the same page. Sex is fun, but can also be awkward and complicated and mean a lot of different things. Having a healthy and more fully realized understanding of that is so important.

16:53 because the pipes are smaller for sinks than for toilets and tubs/showers, so there's a higher chance of a sink getting clogged lol. I don't really know how it works in the UK, but I'd assume it's the same kind of principle, and (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think disposals are quite as common in the UK. Also, most people misuse disposals in kitchen sinks anyways... They're not really meant to actively put food waste down all the time, but are more designed to grind up _residual_ solid matter so the pipes don't get clogged... You can put a fair amount down them on occasion, and clearly some are more powerful and effective than others, but they're meant to be more of a preventative measure instead of a substitute for a trashcan (I've seen people put all kinds of stuff down a disposal and it's WILD lol) 😂

I was actually there when they were filming some of it and me and a few mates saw Imogen and Nick's actors 😆

My brother once had a friend over who vomitted in the sink instead of the toilet. (The toilet was literally RIGHT next to it) I had to clean the chunks out of the drain. That's why you vomit in the toilet, cause it's considerate lol

So happy I’ve arrived earlier. This season really was one highlight after another but a much needed jolt in storytelling. Life is hard: Jonathan Bailey isn’t there in every frame and neither is Olivia Colman. 0:12 Oop I make a cameo

Cameo!!🙌🙌 Omg yes this season was so good!

The British view of long distance is really different to the American one, like my sister lives 3 hours away from me so I only see her at Christmas 😅

Just a little insight regarding the travel time thing: for Europeans, 4.5h is a lot. Of course, objectively, it is doable. However, we are not used to travel this far. In Switzerland, a normal time for commuting to work is considered to be between 15 to 45min. People consider moving because of that. Some even consider a relationship where you have to travel 1-2h to see your partner as a borderline-long distance relationship.

so I just wanted to quickly mention I love ur content so much and I don't usually comment but I think everyone kind of misses the point of charlies character because the one time he puts himself above someone else (Christmas) everyone immediately starts to call him selfish I love the fact that your reactions are genuine and you say what you think but please remember all the times Charlie has been the most selfless character o the show. Keep up the good work guys love ur content
@carlalussiniАй бұрын
Nobody thought it was selfish to leave, but it was inconsiderate of him to not tell Tory to come with him. It's understandable (they're just kids!) but maturing from a kid to an adult means taking responsibility when you hurt someone you love, even if you were hurting too. Maybe if everyone over 20 thinks it, take it. Or not. Plenty of old people never get around to holding themselves accountable.

Babes. ❤😭 you have no idea how much I needed this. Heartstopper is my happy place, and seeing people experience it for the first time gives me all the good feelings. And I need good feelings after the shitshow that was the US election this week. WORST WEEK EVER. And I thought 2016 was bad 💔 But YOU!!! THANK YOU for bringing joy and positivity to my broken heart today 🙏

@PinkPopcast That's so awful. My dog passed away this year in June and she was 20 and I'm still not okay. I'm sorry she was taken so soon, may her memory be a blessing

Not including Olivia Colman had nothing to do with budget, she wanted to be there, but her schedule was too hard to fit in here so it wasn't possible, but she said she wants to come back for season 4
