My son made a roast and it had quite a bit of broth. I saved it in a butter bucket. Next day, I tip some very limp celery, fresh carrots, few taters and a almost no good onion. Threw it all in a pot and let me tell you it was awesome! Oh for the meat, I had a small package of deer burger. It was more of a stew. Now I've gotta blame Bev for me being weird about having all my veg the same size. Got the ole chopper out.

Looks absolutely delicious! Bev, you should have done a break down in cost for this soup. Using all of your home grown, canned, dehydrated ingredients... what a way to show young cooks how to save money when making a hearty dinner. 🥰

I LOVE soup season. I’m making knoephla soup for supper tonight. I have been able to get some farm fresh milk and have a pint of cream to use. I like making ours more like a chowder. I use carrots, onion, celery, potatoes, bacon (crispy) cooked in chicken broth then add homemade knoephla dumplings (flour, egg, parsley and milk) and cut them into square dumplings. If it’s still brothy I add some corn starch mixed with cold water and cook until thickened and then remove from heat and add in a pint of cream. Kids and hubby love with homemade biscuits.

Greetings from North Carolina! Bev… Hubby doesn’t care for soups… except once in a great while chicken noodle and chicken & dumplings. I love homemade veggie soup. I save all my leftover veggies from dinner no matter how much. Once the small baggies pile up my pot comes out and I’m in heaven at least for a week at lunch. Got a couple of new soups to try once the weather cools a little more. Cant wait to try potato broccoli with bacon. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it…. Catch you later on your next video!

Noodle making is now on my to do list next time I make my chicken noodle soup. When I was very young I helped my mother make noodles. She would let the noodles dry before cooking. I will be making mine with some herbs as you did. Salt, pepper and Garlic powder are my go to's also.

I personally would like to see a LOT more pantry/freezer pull meals. They inspire me to get creative with my in home 'grocery store'! I am oven roasting some trombocino squash (smell and taste very similar to butternut) this morning, to go on my dehydrators. Will powder after dried. You're tomato powder noodles gave me one more idea to use this squash powder!!! Thank you for the inspiration!!!
@lifewiththevolfies2 жыл бұрын
Make sure when you put it on the dehydrator that you add at least an equal amount of water to the splash and put it through the blender. If you put it straight from the oven on to dehydrator trays it will dry too hard in places to properly grind. Trust me a been down that road

Bev, my grandmother always, always made her noodles in the morning so they could dry and then it was a palaver to get them all situated so they didn't stick together. I've never found that necessary...they taste just as good when you drop them in hot broth right after being rolled. I've got to try making them flavored once to see if hubby will object or not. It is nice to cook something different for a change, isn't it? Thanks for sharing your process with us.

Mother would put flour on the noodle dough, roll it up, slit it down the middle to the center of the dough and cut then from end to end to make the noodles. I've never had success with that method. I use a pizza cutter just as you did. It works for me!

Yum. Your soup has me thinking the very cool wind we are getting is a perfect excuse to copy, consume and Enjoy !!

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead I Love making the turbo whole wheat bread in the morning after my husband leaves for work at 4:15 AM. It rises for one and a half hours inside the oven with the oven light on. Then I punch it down and reshape it and put it into a loaf pan or other vessel and let it rise again for 30 to 45 minutes. And then I bake it. It is so good. We really Enjoy that fresh baked bread for lunch.
