Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics were blown out by Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat 128-102 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat now have a 3-0 series lead on the Celtics despite not being favored in any of the first three games. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes debate who is at fault for the Celtics collapse.

Yeah. Disappointing that whenever the Heat win, they always talk about how the other team didn't rise to the occasion, or make it seem like it's more so the other team choked, or something was wrong with them. I know for a fact that if the Celtics were up 3-0 they would be talking about how great the Celtics are and already be talking about the inevitable matchup vs the Nuggets.

That front office argument that Wildes’ said was spot on. It’s crazy how coaches can literally bring a championship to a franchise only to get fired a couple of years later. Firing a great coach because they lost in the finals, playoffs, losing season, or ar the request of a star player is not the blueprint of a legendary franchise.

The heat is ripping the Celtics hearts out. And Spo is out coaching Mazulla. People need to give this heat team some respect. Back to back years in the eastern conference finals and 3 times in the last 4 seasons with a 2020 finals appearance. Last year they were a 3 point shot away from making to the finals, if they went finals I think the ly would've beat the worriors. This year they'll go into the finals as a huge underdog. They'll be the 2023 champs because they are the best 3 point shooting team in the playoffs and the have good to great defense. More than likely they'll play Denver and nobody on Denver can stop Jimmy from getting where he wants and stop him from going to the free-throw line. Miami Heat!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally people are realizing it. There was tons of warning signs for Joe Mazzula being in over his head starting in the first round. Thinking that coaching doesn't matter in the NBA, or any sport really, is such a casual view of the game. Any sports commentator who thinks that should be disqualified from reporting on NBA content in the playoffs, and for Wilde's sake the NFL season can't come fast enough. It's the same as when people just read the FT stats after the game and blame the ref's - sure one team took more FT's but WHY? The Celtics shot a low percentage from 3, but WHY? In the Celtics case their gameplan was far too simple, they wanted motion offense where their ball handlers drive and kick out to presumably open spot up shooters. That can't be your only offense against a great coach like Spoelstra no matter what his squad is. It works great in the regular season where teams have about a day to prepare for you, sometimes less. It doesn't work in the post season without adjustments. Ime Udoka was definitely better but even he struggled when team's figured out their scheme. Joe has ZERO go-to set plays out of timeouts and even refuses to call them. He'd rather end the game with 2 timeouts left than call one to get a set play. He has shown college level coaching at best and that makes perfect sense because at his peak he was college level basketball talent - that's just the degree to which he understands the game right now Nothing against Joe Mazzula but he's not ready for the league yet and it's a shame that the Celtics let the players essentially hand-pick him with such good coaches available on the market. Sometimes the players don't even know what's best for them. Even really good professional players struggle as head coaches in the league, Steve Nash for example

This is on the players more than coaching. I say 60-40 split. It doesn't matter how good or bad the coach is, if the players aren't playing good, they're going to lose. When you have that kind of talent on 1 team, you should be winning. No ifs, ands, or buts. Tatum and Brown have been horrendous this series. Tatum is 5-20 from 3 and Brown is 2-20 from 3. The coach should be telling them to stop shooting 3s so he gets the blame there.
@DCIphanatic
@DCIphanatic Жыл бұрын
Coach gets a lot more blame than that, any offensive scheme they are running is directly influenced by him. When JT was shooting 0-for in the first quarter a good coach would call set plays to get him going, or change the scheme to get him easier looks based on the defense. He just let it continue happening as if he had no part of that equation. Mazzula had no answer for Spoelstras adjustments at any point this series. You can't motion offense your way to a finals, Mazzula was way over his head since the first series

Mazzulla wasn't good at his job but the blame is on brown and tatum. 12p and tatum with 14p on 6/18fg. Tatum is so inconsistent and a very unefficent scorer blame is on him

I don't feel like the word underestimated, sounds like the correct word. Heat is a play-in team, with their third-best star injured. And, I didn't think they'd make the finals.

Tatum loves tough shots. He's really good at them, and they are cool looking on social media, but as good as he is they're still low percentage shots. They're inefficient. It's great that he can take them when he needs to, but he shouldn't hunting them.

Media is giving guys like Tatum, Brown, Joe Mazzulla, Embid, Harden, Doc Rivers, Luka, Lebron, Darvin Ham more trash talking and defamation of character then they have given Curry, Steve Kurr, Kevin Durant, Kawhi, PG13, CP3, Mark Cuban and Ty Lou combined. I find it funny and I really wonder why.

6:35 Wildes comments on Mazzulla's record and how the surge of "FIRE HIM" from media and fans is over the top. Mazzulla has not even had them for a full season let alone an off-season. Yes, he is making questionable if not blatantly wrong decisions but the players need to do better. I remember when Chris Ford took over the Celtics and clashed with Larry Bird. Ford wanted a fast tempo and Bird wanted a walk it up 1/2 court offence. Ford turned out to be a very good coach. It is up to Mazzulla to draw up the strategy and adjust the tactics. MORE importantly is it is up to the coach to replace a player, if he is not performing, re-focus him and send him back in. The bench players are still in the top 300 players in the WORLD

I love these guys' chemistry but Broussard takes 0 accountability when he's wrong lol. It's not your fault the Nets broke up the team but considering both their stars wanted out in the summer, it's your fault you couldn't see it coming lmao. The other 2 at the table saw it.
