To add on to what Math said about ATL having "NY parents," yo, I say the same thing about hip hop's genesis. Those kids in the Bronx that were creating the hip hop culture in the early '70s had Southern parents, mainly from the Carolinas. The Carolinas have a huge footprint in the creation of hip hop. Coke La Rock, Trixie, Saza, MC Sha-Roc, Disco King Mario, and many others had parents from there or they were born there and then moved to NY in the '60s.

When everyone booed OutKast after being best new artists nobody was claiming them from up top. Also Goodie Mobs debut album had Dirty South as a song which is basically saying what Mecca is saying on wax. Later on artists from NY during the late 90’s started to come down and do collab records. Raekwon on a OutKast record, Silk the Shocker on Camrons record, Jay Z on Juveniles record, etc. So it’s still separate from a Hip Hop perspective. Nobody ran down and called Uncle Luke East Coast. 😂

NYC ran 97’ - 2005 (arguably 2007) Atlanta wasn’t even on the radio until 2005/2006 when Jeezy dropped TM101. Before that it was G-Unit, Rocafella, and Dipset.

At the end of the day, this is New York’s Karma. New York thought they were better than everybody, they isolated themselves. Tupac talked about this, they thought they were bigger and still do. The south got the best looking women and they showed love to everyone. And at the end of the day New York won the battle but lost the war

This is embarrassing. These dudes want Atlanta to claim the East Coast so bad now. But they didn’t have that energy.20-30 years ago. They used to call called down south artist bammas. They didn’t play their music. New York has always been arrogant , and that’s cool . But the South don’t claim yall. They never have. And they never will. Bcus the east coast didn’t embrace them in the beginning

Lets be real, forget the biasness, from early 2000s, since really Outcast, Goodie Mob, Pastor Troy, TI, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Jeezy, Dem Franshize Boy, Lil Scrappy, stop it! Shawty Lo & D4L, Soulja Boy, Migos, Future, Gucci, Gorilla Zo, 2 Chainz, Crime Mob, stop! Bad Boy South, Boyz N Da Hood/ Jeezy, 8 Ball & MJG!

I actually agree with Mecc on this one for a change. 06 to maybe around 10, there were soooooo many ATL artists that were literally changing the sound of hip-hop and R&B. Soulja Boy, Lloyd, D4L, Lil Jon, Luda, Jeezy, T.I., Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Usher, Ciara, The Dream, Ying-Yang Twins. I mean. There wasnt a time during that era were you weren't going to hear one of these artists on the radio at some point regardless of where you were. Its crazy to hear them try and deny this.
