Also helps to make the world feel more "lived in," like there's actually more places that you just can't see, without having to model all those individual rooms, that's a LOT of work for as many doors are in the games like it's an entire town. If the doors were removed it'd just be a blank corridor the whole way through (which for all intents and purposes it kinda is, but less obviously so), and if they actually opened there'd be a whole lot less individuality in each area, AND the player would waste SO much time just sifting through pointless rooms trying to find the next area they were _supposed_ to be in. This is not even taking into account the limitations of the console. Makes perfect sense to me, they made the best move imo.

@@Pongsifu to be fair, shattered memories is the only other SH game worth playing. However I would enjoy watching you try Silent Hill 4: The Room just to roast it. Shattered Memories was a remake of Silent Hill 1 but was then changed to be a “re-imagining”. It has the same setup with a car crash and missing daughter and the characters have similar roles (Cybil the cop, Lisa the nurse) but it’s a brand new story.

I love all of the TeamFourStar references is this one. The Alucard vs Alexander Anderson at the end was spot on, since Vincent is criticizing Gloria for bringing out the Otherworld and her twisted view of their god, and then she stabs him for it. Heather's outfit and Jill's outfit are very close to a fashion trend in Japan at the time that involved the attire to not only look "sexy and trendy" but to help deal with the unusual hot summer weather of the time

so as a programmer and a game designer, tube skirts were used because they were in style, also because they are extremely easy to mesh and model, since they are "tight" and don't need fabric physics. Either these dated games chugged because you had to render fabric flowing, it they looked like dolls with PVC skirts that flowed like rigid plastic and pre-rendered animations. The common ground solution to both of these problems, they wear a tight fitting skirt that doesn't flow or need fabric physics
