Love the song and recording, swedish metal sound for days! The toughest part in mixing is to learn what to listen to, and what is fatiguing your ears and clouding a mix. Thanks for those tips.

I like the sound of this 5150/JCM 800 blend, sounds close to 90's In Flames. I watched your Clayman tone video and am trying to get close using plugins. It's not easy (duh!) - phase issues blending multiple amp sims, incorporating the HM-2 plugin, not to mention finding ENGL/Fredman technique IR's. But I am getting immediate good results replicating the setup in this video with the ML Sound 800 and STL Josh Middleton 5150 plugins. Thank you for teaching so thoroughly I am getting a sound I like out of my monitors again. Your a great songwriter too which is the most impressive thing. THANK YOU 🤘

this is why amp modelers are great as let you easily blend multiple amps and cabs and FX chain together and record easier than bunch of tube amps.
@GuitarsAndSynths3 ай бұрын
most excellent Euge! I find less gain is key and to use a clean OD boost in front of most amps. My Mesa Mark V with the EQ set correctly and clean boost from SD-1 and some guitars like my ESP with EMG pickups get me perfect Metallica thrash metal tones. I do like new amps like the Revv Generator and ENGL Fireball that require no boost and have noise gate built in.

Hi Euge, I am seeing you are using the ssl E Brown channel strip plugin. I was considering buying one of those, but the waves version. Would you suggest the E serie (which can be switched between the black version and the brown type of eq) or the G version? and why? Thank you!

Re the Royer, the backside of the mic is actually a little brighter than the front from what I recall when the studio I worked in had one.

Damn another banger of a song and video Euge! Your videos are really motivating, inspiring and so damn informative. 😀

Awesome video, man, as usual! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience! And now I'm curious about your approach to mixing and recording quad guitars. Are you use different amp/sound for each pair (L + R), or both left guitars for instance with Marshall and both right with 5150? And how to pan quad guitars to avoid mess?
@EugeValovirta230V Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Whatever works the best in any given situation 😎👌. With Cyhra’s latest album ’The Vertigo Trigger’ I recorded one JCM800 and one 5150 per side and on the other side the JCM was the main / louder and on the other the 5150.

I think good tone starts with the pickup height. Even 0.4mm makes all the difference.
