I think it's the Black Guardian, cause the White Guardian warns the Doctor, he will wait for the 3rd meeting, and he's the only one as powerful to be a threat also to the Toymaker.

The Rani was excilled from galafrey before it was destroyed so she survived the time war. I know there is litigation behind The Rani but there could be a loophole due to the fact the rights are co owned by disney. Disney could of even of bought the rights they have the money for it Also the Christmas special is penned to air on the 22nd of December. it will be celebrating the 40th yeah anniversary and its on a Sunday. F5ss's theory that it isn't just The Trickster who is working alone (if he does end up appearing in the season finale), is extremely plausible, as I spotted a post by another Whovian about Susan Triad (the woman who has been following Ruby and the Doctor), and they said that one of the meanings of the word "Triad", is pyramid, so they reckoned that a possible returning villain was Sutekh, who was trapped in a pyramid on Mars and became strongly associated with him. However, to add to that theory, I wouldn't be surprised if the Great Intelligence was somehow involved as well. In the 1968 serial, "The Web of Fear", the Great Intelligence ordered his Robot Yetis to build a machine that would extract the Doctor's knowledge from his brain. The machine ended up resembling a pyramid. Even though the Great Intelligence was seemingly killed when Clara jumped into the Doctor's time stream, since he was basically a God, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he was still alive somehow. The Godlike villains in Doctor Who are known to be extremely hard to kill. So, Hecuba, The Trickster, Sutekh and The Great Intelligence could all be involved in the plot somehow, especially since they would know never to fight alone against the Doctor and his companions, after having been badly defeated before.

@@TardisTalks The other thing playing out in my mind is Triad=Susan theory. Personally I thought Susan may be Mrs. Flood, but, again, who knows. Perhaps, much like Clara, Susan entered the doctor's timestream while looking for him and was split across time and space. The line between Donna and Mel about "using Triad" was a reference planted line, no reason for it otherwise. You could take it out and nothing would have changed. It's the "we planned this overlap" nod, like "the woman in the shop" between 11 and 12. There are a lot of possible answers here, and honestly, i'm intrigued by all of them.

Being the essence of Evil it would be too big for the Toy Maker to play with.

Yeah but if RTD was doing his research into The Toy maker for the script this is where he would have also found out Hecuba existed too.. Making it possible 😊 he is a big huge fan boy so probably already knew about her anyway. I really don't think it is fenric.. But again this is all just theory so who knows it could be the Daleks again even though he said they weren't coming back 😂

If he wrote about the toy maker and created maestro, RTD will know about Hecuba as he would have had to dive into the Pantheon of Discord history within the show to make sure everything was accurate, I could be wrong and this is at the end of the day just a theory but I hope it is Hecuba too.

Look to be honest you lost me a little however I will say its definitely the Trickster as in SJA the trickster states she waited. I also believe that Ruby would obtain other means of time travel and find out who her mother is by going to the day on Ruby Road and the Trickster will feed of her changing points in time. Regardless I'm very hopeful it's going to be a great story 🎉

It is an interesting theory 🤔 I have never listened to any big finish audios so have no knowledge in that respect. Tharries did mention her in one of his videos as a possibility. I would say that she can't be the oldest one that Maestro is talking about as Maestro clearly says him/he in relation to that character. The rest of the theory is interesting and sound in the way you have explained it and in relation to Susan Twist. Again I don't have knowledge of big finish so can't really comment more.
