My boyfriend and i are moving into an apartment where we can't have our dog (it was my family dog so she's simply going back to my parent's, so no worries) and we both never lived without dogs in our lives (or simply pets) i'm allergic to cats so I can't have one, and a hedgehog is my boyfriend's favorite animal, so we're thinking about getting one, once we're fully established in our new place! I'm doing lots and lots of research and your videos are great! Thanks a lot! And i'm really happy about adopting a little spiky friend! A great plus is that we both work till late at night so our schedule fits with a hedgehog lifestyle, we stay up late most nights! 😊😊 can't wait!

I'm used to it, hedgehogs are naturally pretty squirmy and don't appreciate having their movements restricted :) Hedgehogs can go home at around 6 weeks old when they are weaned from their mothers. You don't want one any earlier than that, but older hedgehogs are fine too! :) Both of my boys were slightly older when I got them.

On behalf of all those who own, looking to own, or simply just curious about the Hedgehog, and are looking for some good answers, thank you so much for all your hard work making these most informative, thoughtful videos looking to help any possible would-be & future Hedgehog owners and *enthusiasts (*I add "enthusuasts" because I think you have to be just that to take on the monetary and care responsibilities that owning such a pet entails; i'm not implying that they aren't worth it, though - they're so very cute and unique! But they need your love, and lots of your time!)! I'm not a Hedgehog owner - they are illegal to have as pets in the state of Pennsylvania, to start, and the closest thing I have to a Hedgehog is my Hedgehog-Beanie Baby, Buggles! Buggles keeps me young-at-heart, and is really a buddy herself. No, no...of course there is no comparison between owning the Beanie-Baby vs. the real thing. I know! Except both are terribly cute!!!! Buggles gets credit, however, for sparking my curiosity about the Hedgehog, quite seriously, and the more i've researched the lovable little companion, the more fascinating I find these animals. Upon and since finding your channel, Ms. Tori Lynn, I have learned so very much from your expert videos. I find you A#1 on this topic!! Your Hedgehog Care videos are jam-packed with tons of knowledge about the small mammal, and I thank you for the plethora of information on the topic! You really go above and beyond to help your audience - especially any future Hedgie owners who will/would be applying what they learned from you (we surely hope so, anyways! :) - in arming them with information! You - already what i'd consider an expert - probably still conducted a little research & double-checking, and almost-definitely, some considerable planning, in finding the right kind of information across this expansive topic, drawing up your best answers - and finally organizing it all! - to present to your audience, from their myriad list of, seemingly, every possible type of question about the Hedgehog, along w/ owning/homing it as a pet, of course* (* The latter serving as a plenty-expansive topic in itself!). Wow! So many people have so many varied concerns and things to consider for their own unique lifestyle & degree of limitation in having & keeping such an *exotic animal (*One, not necessarily demanding but one that requires some serious responsibility from their owner(s), as they are non-indigenous to our North America, and have some critical requirements such as temperature - 72-80 ° Hedgie cage temp. is necessary!) as the Hedgehog is, at least for us Americans, that your undertaking here as one informing & preparing those who are considering one (or more!) as a possible pet can be a daunting, and delicate matter! Your videos have been so helpful in deciding if and when to get a hedgehog! I’ve wanted one for the longest time but for now, Im waiting until I have my own home (hopefully in these next couple years). Hi Tori Lynn, I got my sweet baby girl hedgehog about a week and a half ago from an amazing breeder. I have been watching your videos and they're amazing and incredibly helpful. I was wondering if I can ask you a question because you are very knowledgeable. I was cutting my hedgehogs' nails yesterday for the first time and cut the quick of her back nail a bit. It bled and I put cornstarch then flour on it to stop the bleeding. She didn't seem that upset by it but I noticed that she didn't go on her wheel last night. I feel absolutely terrible!!! I just adopted a hedgehog. Almost 2 years old. He wasn't well taken care of. He's too skinny and he bites and is very skittish because the previous owner was allergic. I'm gonna make sure he has a good life from now on and I know it will take time but any pointers would be helpful!

My wife and I just bought a 9 month old today for our daughter and oh yeah it's painful at first DON'T GRAB both you and your hedg will not be happy lol but after 2 or 3 times I figured out gently is key and were getting to know each other a little at a time. He seams to panic when I held him . Could be because were both a bit nervous of each other. But as with my bearded dragon ill learn how to better handle and when not too . I wild hedgehog came up to me in a park, and as I approached it it didn't ball up. The park was very busy with people, dogs etc so I picked him up. He didn't mind at all I'm very shocked because we found one before in our yard in SA and it didn't let us toach it at all and always balled up. This little one is very friendly. Do you think it will be difficult for him to adapt to home life after being in the wild? He is bigger than yours by quite a bit? Thanks for the cool video it's very informative.

hedgehogs come in every now and then into our garden. We normally take them to see if they were harmed. we also give them some food and water for the night and release them the next day into the large graveyard next to us. so pretty much i don’t even need to convince my mum to let me keep one lmao. But considering they were wild in the first place, we do let them out again

I do use gloves but its a temporary thing and i only use them when pulling him out of the cage i think he actually likes the gloves as well so thats a plus for me

When do I need to trim my hedgehog's nails? Like when how long have they grown? Also, just for curiosity, what's the problem of them having nails that are too long?

+Wei Jessica I typically do my boys nails once a week. When the white bit of the nails seems a tad long, I snip it off. It's all person judgement. The issue with them being long is that hedgehogs tend to rip them off, which causes bleeding and opens them up for infections. They also will make their nails start to grow funny when they start to curl. Some hedgehogs even have their nails grow straight back into their paws, which is painful for them and can also cause infections.

i found a pygmy hedgehog at my ridding club while i was walking a horse and i picked it up and snuggled it while i was walking the horse and wanted to take it home but my mom wouldn't let me because of the reaction that my dad would have and that fact that we didnt exactly know how to take care of one so now im looking up all the information i can possibly and physically find to be able to show my mom that i know how to take care of one.
