Another great video, we would like to see the stance with the new wheels on your TypeS! I was waiting for that lol. Great job on giving us tips with changing brakes. Thanks again.
@Heeltoe.2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I definitely have to do a feature video on the wheels! Maybe we need to do just sort of a general progress update on the car. We haven't said anything about the spoiler or exhaust yet either.
@youngbrevy2 жыл бұрын
@@Heeltoe. Yea with the TypeS you can make so many different videos. Cant wait to hear the exhaust again.

What I really want to know is why they purposely took off that extra material on the sides of the pad. My other CTS V brembos are the exact same size with the full pad material. That makes absolutely no sense to me why they would intentionally remove that material unless it had something to do with noise concerns. I've searched everywhere and can't figure out why they did this.
@Heeltoe.26 күн бұрын
"took off extra material" Are you referring to the shallow chamfer at the leading and trailing edges of the pads? This feature promotes a more even pressure during performance braking. The pad is less prone to "digging in" on the leading edge and therefore less likely to chatter or make noise, and gives a more confident pedal feel.
@alucarus626 күн бұрын
@Heeltoe. That's is exactly what I was referring to. Thank you! I just thought it was odd and logically to me seemed like it would be losing a percentage of stopping force with that material missing, but I understand what you're saying. Thanks again for the explanation. It was driving me nuts, pun intended. Lol
@Heeltoe.26 күн бұрын
@@alucarus6 "seemed like it would be losing a percentage of stopping force" This is a common misconception. Stopping power is a function of friction which is the product of the friction coefficient and the force on the pads. So pedal pressure and the brake pad compound are what stop the car. The surface area isn't part of it. However, heat is generated by friction, and larger pads and rotors can better cope with and distribute heat. So larger brake parts tend to work more consistently when abused.

Thanks for the video! It is unfortunate that they are not the classic "top loaded" but 2 19mm bolts shouldn't be that much difficult. Also Thanks for sharing the wheels specs! I was looking for other size options as the 255/35/20s don't take kindly to crappy California roads.

So what's the best brake pad for a 21 TLX Type S, I have slight vibration but just had it serviced at the dealer & they passed the brakes, but maybe I need new pads & not rotors

Different pads are better for different people and diving conditions. Lately we are having a great experience with Carbotech pads on our TLX-S, light dust, no noise, smooth braking: www.heeltoeauto.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search&search_in=all&search_str=CT228722-1521

Curious about the electronic e-brake. Are there any extra steps that need to be taken because they’re electronic? I’ve only changed out brakes with a traditional e-brake and always assumed there was an extra step for these new electronic braking systems.

The rear calipers must be placed into service mode if they're EPB calipers. Honda does have a method that doesn't require a scan tool but does require the use of an e11 eTorx socket.

I'd like to hear your suggestion for which brake pads you recommend for a daily driven civic? Not a track car, just fairly aggressive driving. I've heard akebono makes great pads, but I don't know how they compare to stock. I don't want a super aggressive pad that wears down quick. Also don't want a noisy pad. Look forward to your response.
@Heeltoe.2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply on this. Yes Akebono does make great pads. They make many of the stock Honda pads in fact. But their replacement pads aren't much different from stock. Aggressive pads do not wear down quick, they last longer. But they can wear the rotor faster. We suggest taking a look at Hawk HPS. They are a great all around street upgrade pad. We sell them on Heeltoeauto.com!
