Finally someone does a comparison video. Thanks this helps me in my decision

Cordura IS nylon. "Cordura" is a namebrand, and used universally like "Velcro" or "Band-aid". It comes in multiple deniers. Most of helikon tex packs are made with 500D Nylon Cordura. For the most durability 1000D is the best, but 500D is more pliable and has a smoother appearance, almost like canvas. Both are great choices for packs for their scratch and tear resistance. Also, most Cordura has a DWR coating on the back making it very water resistant, which is also excellent for a backpack. I work as a purchasing manager for a major manufacturing company, so thats why I'm so familiar with these fabrics. Just thought someone might find this information interesting or helpful! Great video man... Cheers!

@@2ndexodusmove Yeah... I realized after I posted that it came off "know-it-all-ish", wasn't my intent lol.

No worries. I am wise enough to be taught. We all are ever learning. I am glad to learn something new. Sounds like you have a lucrative position in the industry.

@@2ndexodusmove When we are learning - Vietnam was in 60´s not seventies, and ALICE pack never saw action in Vietnam. They were issued since 73. The pack issued in ´Nam was the Lightweight pack and Tropical ruck that was the precursor to ALICE pack.

The manufacturer has it listed as 500dcordura on the bottom as and back and 210 nylon on The rest so it's not his mistake. I own it and it's different material asside the from just being thinner . I Understand your point all that cordura is nylon but not all nylon is cordura. The thinner stuff is not non brand name cordura it's more like that thin ground sheet nylon tarp material. But he did describe it the way its listed. On the matilda

I notice you have a ton of videos on your channel about different backpacks. What would you recommend as an overall nice bushcraft pack under $200? I want something that will take a beating if needed and last a long time.

Helikon Tex Bergen. It is a comfortable pack and fits well for Bushcraft. I have a review on it. Hope your travels lead to your desired outcome.

I've owned the Matilda and the Summit. The summit is way better for covering ground in. The Matilda is a bit better for compartmentalizing your gear. In every other way though, I prefer the summit pack. I'm looking hard at the Bergen though. Wish they'd make the Summit with about 5 - 10 more liters for cold weather camping.

Yeah man I have the matilda and like it alot but . Thought the straps were kinda uncomfortable for the same reason. Since the are rigid theydig into my armpits weird because they kinda try to twistat the bottom causing the edge to dig in. Tried many adjustments even had the hip belt above my belly button still uncomfortable lol . Fix I found was buying the HAZARD brand strap pads not a perfect fit but made it comfortable. Not even fully packed not alot of weight in it but other than that exactly what I was looking for.

Nice!... I too have been figuring out some sort of pads to put on the straps. I do like the ruck, just like you the straps need more cushion.

Thanks for the comparison. I guess I like the Matilda more. I will get him during this week and I am really curious how it works for me... 👍🏽

Do they both have the ability to hold an axe or hatchet, like slide behind the pocket style?

Matilda is 42 total liters. 30 main, 2 exterior are 5 and one is 7. Also, its BERGEN. Like Bargain or Burger. Not Birgin

Are you sure? I heard that the main compartment was 35. I even own one & don't know for sure! Thanks.

@@baskgemini970 Just looked it up on the Helikon website and the Matilda is 50l total. Main compartment is 35l 🤙 How does the Matilda hold up to some abuse? Thinking of getting it.

Helikon-Tex specifies the Matilda as 35 liters. Also, pack companies generally list the liters as the total of main plus external storage compartments.
