Definitely liked it, even if I have mixed feelings about how things have been rewritten and how it might affect Aizen's introduction. I feel Ukitake jumping the gun on the Kamikake and Aizen potentially helping to charge the gate to the Royal Palace feels like a bit of a waste, especially if NaNaNa and Robert have truly been written out. I genuinely am upset at Kubo and the anime team if they really did this. That being said, I also interpret Mimihagi as being moved to help by Ukitake's compassion even at death's door, but I think the black haired Ukitake that briefly appeared symbolizes Mimihagi becoming him for the duration of his time as a host, somewhat related to the idea that Ukitake's dual Zanpakuto spirit might be a product of Mimihagi mirroring his actual Zanpakuto spirit.

Ukitake's been coughing up blood all series, and now his whole role in TYBW was even more unfortunate. Began with losing Yama, ended with his own death and knew that Unohana was also about to wrap things up. On top of that, Ukitake was probably one of the few guys in the upper ranks of Soul Society who didn't have one or more of: a selfish ulterior motive, bloodlust/tendency to lose themselves in a good challenge/fight, one or many personality disorders, a complete lack of empathy, and so on...lol It'll be interesting to see which way Kubo takes those older generation characters, assuming he'll come through for us and do the Hell Arc

The names are revealed in the end credits (along with their VAs), but the pronunciations of their names are not officially known yet as far as I know. Japanese names in kanji can be unpredictable, most especially in the world of Bleach. The only confirmed names are Hana and Tama since they're written in hiragana instead of kanji. While we may be able to deduce the pronunciations for the others, it's still speculation at this point. So I think we should refrain from using these names first until we get official pronunciations. I'll discuss with the wiki about this since the names didn't seem to go through any approval or consensus.

Or maybe more like "Turn Forward The Pendulum": - After the actual war part of TYBW is over but before the time skip with the new kids, etc. A mini-arc dedicated to detailing things involving the SK and the original world. Some small bits of Hell info, to hook us in for the Hell arc later, but not too much obviously. - Revealed at the end of the arc that the whole mini-arc took place in an instant - the instant when the SK first came into being, became conscious, and saw the future. We were watching the vision of what was to come, as seen by the SK via the Almighty (maybe he had seen everything that happened up until the point of his death by Ichigo/Yhwach). The vision ends as this is now in the present time, in which the SK Adnyeus is dead. - Next, it would move to covering the post-TYBW and timeskip stuff, including the whole "Kazui sending people to Hell" thing, Szayel, the future lives of Ichigo's friends as we saw in the one-shot + the main final chapters etc etc.Perhaps the animated version of the Hell one-shot content hits differently because of extra context that might have been given in the SK's past mini-arc. - Once the anime has now caught up with the manga content, the TYBW anime comes to a close, with the announcement that the manga returns soon with the Hell Arc. Honestly, I would love it if they went that far.

I hope we find out how the actual hell (pun not intended) the "Japanese" Soul Society and the Western one (from Burn the Witch) are related. It's just kinda funny to me that both the Aizen and Yhwach incidents happened and the witches were seemingly just like "noooope, I don't want any part in that". Who in each location knows what about the other? I assume the existence of witches, dragons, etc are yet more items in the long list of things Urahara, Mayuri, Aizen etc know about but have never had a reason to talk about. If Soul Society West is an area within one of the three worlds (the one known as Soul Society, obviously), then providing you could travel the distance quickly, could you get to SS West by e.g. going to Seireitei and then travelling the distance within the alternate world of Soul Society until you start seeing dragons n stuff? I just realized how clever that "You have my full attention" line Unohana gave is, immediately after Kyoraku says he drinks to get over being dumbed by girls. Obviously the context is completely different from any relationship like that, but it's kind of a layered joke from Unohana. It's nice, because despite Unohana "reverting" to her Yachiru self, she is still Unohana. That Retsu side of her isn't totally an act she made up and "turns off" after being given her orders.

It never sat right with me that Ukitake's only shining moment in the final arc of the series was him dying. I'm glad the anime fixed this by going into more depth about his backstory, connection to Mimihage, and friendship with Kyoraku.

would have been good to see unohana do some battle against a quincy I feel you but it was much more than a power-up it was the answer to many questions and a coming full circle of understanding of how kenpachi came to be how he is. I think her story was summed up quite well but it would have been cool to at least see her just massacre a large number of quincy footsoldiers or something just kind of limited as she can't beat anyone of consequence unless they just bring them back to life since most of the key story details are already set in stone.

The deity accepts and gives life to the child to become older and play a important part in society. When the world threatens to collapse, the child is willing to return the gift once bestowed upon them. So with their sacrifice, balance returns to the universe. The symbolism of water in this chaos, which might not even be water, raises interesting parallels with the distortions seen when Quincy powers are used. This could signify that Reio, while powerful, was more of a manipulator of existing energies rather than an omnipotent creator. Perhaps Yhwach, as his "son," is an embodiment of that same destructive energy that cannot be easily controlled or tamed. Also, the idea that the "old world" was in chaos, filled with strange substances, aligns beautifully with the recurring theme of balance in Bleach. Yhwach's desire to return things to this primordial state feels less like a villain's power grab and more like a profound longing for order in his own chaotic existence. The fact that Hell wasn’t shaped by Reio because of the lack of "material" gives Hell an eerie, almost sentient quality-like it exists outside of creation itself.
@rooseveltamase1653Ай бұрын
Ukitake mentiones that in performing the ‘kamikake’ ritual, and giving up the entirety of his organs, makes him an embodiment of mimihagi itself, allowing him to harness the full power of the right arm to fully stand in for Adnyeus. Hence, mimihagi is completely absorbed by the Quincy king in the future

The "I'll see you soon" interaction was definitely a metareference to foreshadow Hell, but its questionable as to whether or not Ukitake and Unohana really know the truth or they just both understand there is an extremely high probability both of them will soon be dead. I do think that in saying that, the meaning was that Jushiro, and likely all 3 remaining Elder Captains knew that the Konso Resai didn't actually disassemble what remained of their souls and rather sent it somewhere else after death. The details of the ritual that the old guard would probably be informed of probably just states that it removes the affected's spiritual power from the 3 worlds but doesn't state where it winds up going. "I'll see you soon" is too specific a meaning when the conventional knowledge is that a death of a soul doesn't have them reincarnate, but rather have their component's recycled into the flow of souls to be used to birth new souls.

I think at first mimihagi just partially used its powers to ukitake for his lungs but in order to fully become/absorb the right hand ukitake had done the kamikake ritual to offer all his organs to mimihagi instead of just the lungs.

A very good episode that expanded on a great character. I do think that he meant he would see Retsu soon, but maybe not just in Hell. Just that they would meet after this life was over. But it could have meant hell as well. Seeing him as a child was a nice tough and the parents added so much emotion to the episode. All in all a very good one.

That direct look into the camera with the harsh contrast of the shadows on both Unohana and Ukitake's faces is very reminiscent to the art style of the hell arc Ichigo picture from Kubo. TYBW is dark, but I don't think we see shadow contrast like this often (though I'd have to rewatch to confirm). I definitely got the feeling that it was a nod to hell and that they both knew what was coming next. My theory is that they kept Shunsui in the dark specifically because he wouldn't do the ceremony otherwise.

Now that we’ve seen Ukitake’s backstory flushed out any thoughts on revisiting Ukitakes Bankai? The clothes of Mimihagi and the Shrine Priest outfit seems to really hit home.

All the way since Soul Society Arc I felt like the 3 captains that had their ''old men'' face-off were being saved for later. So it didn't bother me so much we didn't see much of them, but during the final arc I really only felt satisfied with 2 of them, Ukitake, still being a bit cast aside, so I am super happy to see more of him, though I'd honestly still want to see more, though it seems unlikely.
@permeus2ndАй бұрын
5:36 So considering that kenny is named kenpachi zaraki after the district he is from maybe that old man has a slimmer naming structure? On a side note I wonder if zaraki will ever remember his real name but thinking about it most souls that end up not born into a house get given their names by the people the end up living with.
@StewquisitorАй бұрын
I'm leaning toward the theory that Ukitake acquired some amount of precognition from Mimihagi, giving him insight into the awaited fate of Captains into Hell, and the possible further usage of the Combat Pass, a way to study Ichigo's reiatsu, should he be used as a candidate to replace the Soul King.
@ismaelhayes9317Ай бұрын
That's a good theory, but he's already one of the longest serving Gotei 13, so he has enough accurate information on what the Konsō Reisai really do.
@MrReindeerIRLАй бұрын
I think that was Mimigagi but in a still state, like the hand froze itself with its own power in turn resulting in that structure. Tho questions should arise about why the nobles left it there unless it's frozen in that particular space in time

As someone who wasn't super happy with TYBW in the manga, it's been refreshing to see the anime improving on so many aspects! I still want more from Ukitake, but the Hell Arc seems to be hinting as the time for that.

Based on the success of the return of Bleach. I would bet we are getting an adaptation of the light novels then the Hell Arc. Probably new manga chapters then more anime to follow.

I can't help but wonder if mimihagi is actually a human like thing or if it's a bit more creature like ? Did it take pity or did it see a suitable vessel that would probably give up his life pretty readily whenever wherever? One that could help it with whatver its agenda is? Was it crying or is it a secretion (the same way we see dogs/monkeys smiling bit in truth showing teeth is an agressive sign to animals or how cats have flat faces that remind up a bit of people) Pernida was a bit like that too it had a very alien like "personality" the way it learned the stretching of its nerves. But then again pernida got mad when mayuri more or less insulted the quincy and mimihagi did 'smile'at yhwach. Adonyus himself is very alien like i guess.... Lots to think of

Off topic, but I'm really starting to think that Ywach is not the soul king's son, but the soul king himself. Well, more like he's a piece of the soul king, possibly the quincy portion cast out, and Ywach acts similar to the limbs.

The way I look at it, the arm always knew its mission and was waiting for that day if it ever came. It crying shows it felt so bad, it did this in mean time. But ukitake knew he’d have been dead a while ago, so it is, what it is can he complain really? This is what the arm would have been doing if it didn’t save him and it’s for the sake of the world. I don’t mind his dead at all but he should have shown more 1st. Hell arc, save us. Edit: hell arc save us is a wild sentence

I feel like Ukitake and Shunsui would be aware of the Truth of Konsoreisai but still go through with it due to understanding the necessity of it and knowing that even being in Hell they'd be more than equipt to handle themselves there so they wouldn't really have any suffering

The sparring scene can't be too soon after the first war, because remember that flashback with Kyouraku looking at the painting of Yama in bankai, and him asking what it was. Kyouraku was much younger then than he is in this scene. I'd say this sparring flashback must be at least another 50-100 years after that one, based on how souls age much slower than humans. Kyouraku and Ukitake might not have even been born yet at the time of the war.
@worksmagic89Ай бұрын
The flashback was much needed to help us understand Ukitake better. There was quiet a few moments that were sad to watch as well like the mom saying what she said about bearing an unhealthy child. Also Ukitake interacting with Unohana and when Ukitake told Rukia he always seem to put her in a hard position.
@phantomunleashed3289Ай бұрын
I feel like people forget about that small flashback of kid Shunsui seeing the tapestry of Bankai Yamamoto. If Jushiro and Shunsui are around the same age, the war had already been over for a “long time” as Yamamoto says to kid Shunsui. So by the time they’re young adults it may have been 100+ years since Yamamoto defeated Ywach, maybe more? It’s hard to tell with how Soul Reapers age 😂

I like that it was done in a way that did not require you to know about the hell chapter for you to understand the scene. I dislike the way the Fandom is trying to rettcon the TYBW to not be the end of the story when it closes the themes of the story nicely. Hell arc should be treated like a post game DLC rather than the "true ending".

I don't think it necessarily hints at the hell arc. I mean, it could, but the conversation between Ukitake and Unohana is a pretty common troupe among people who expect to die soon.

27:40 honestly i disagree. Shinigami are already spirits, there's nowhere else for them to go after death. The line about "seeing you soon" doesnt make any sense unless Ukitake actually knows about Hell.

The parallel between Mimihagi crying at his kindness and Yhwach crying from the previous episode's flashback was really nice to see. The bond between him and Kyoraku goes even deeper than I expected, and it was great to see that as well

Id like to know what level captains need to be to be Konso Reisaid. Are all the OGs done?. Are all the dead kenpachis? Captains havent died much in the last couple hundred years so the info is hard to guess
@dinoloverАй бұрын
Any shinigami that has reached the level of captain class reiatsu needs to have the ritual done so that their reishi can balance things out. The only reason why it's an issue now is because the war killed off 3 captains of the highest and oldest reiatsu and it overwhelmed the process. Captains dying is rare and 3 of the top ones dying in less than weeks apart is making hell go wild
