While having the same imapctful quality, I love how different her version is from Felicia's. Feliciabwas mostly stoic and straightforward, with a cold deadass face. Danielle is louder, more bombastic, a bit sassier. But the soul for both versions is so inescapable and enjoyable. Perfect!!!

I see what you mean. I do believe it’s based on how Whoopi Goldberg portrayed Celie in the film. It’s very similar, and monotone as well. Celie didn’t give us much emotion untilshe started gaining self-respect. And even before that all of the emotion she felt was narrated/in her own private thoughts.
