I remember in the beginning of Wastelanders how long it took me to farm enough bullion to get a full set of T-65. Now you get a equivalent for free just by completing Steel Reign. But I ain't even mad. My little brother is gonna love it. But first he gets to inherit my first X-01 suit decked out in mods and a jetpack. And that's a jetpack from back in the day when you had to run whitespring bunker vendor over and over again in hopes of getting the mod (took me 2-3 days of nothing but running). That PA is like a ancient family heirloom lol.

So I had a ghoul slayers 50 cal... And did legendary crafting 5 times. Here's what I got in the exact order: Hunter's, then mutant slayers, back to ghoul, back to hunter, back to ghoul... I hate it here lol

Bethesda really just needs to make PA with special utility effects, rather than just higher or lower resistances that don't matter. Do something like how the Excavator gets extra carry weight or something. I mean, Hellcat could have had increased movement speed for all I care, but as is, if you have t-65 its pointless to get

All added power armour but t65 have a gimic with them. Strangler heart provides a acid damage buff, union provides acid resistance and carry weight similar to excavator, hellcats damage reduction being a nullifyier means it will scale perfectly with ballistic damage as it rises sense it lowers damage before the armour kicks in. They haven't been adding bigger numbers. Just unique gimics which you are asking for.

Strangler heart was perfect with it's acidic affects A little bit less defense for a bit more offense Like i think T-65 should have had like a Innate Chameleon perk as a set bonus due to it being secret service, or just something other than a stat bump I'd like to see some high tier power armor that is themed around the raiders that has a melee specific effect

to be fair the hellcat's protection is pretty special since its % based (which has way more impact than just DR since DR has diminishing returns making going past 320 less and less useful), and against ballistic damage, the ONE damage type you cannot perk against whatsoever (energy has electric absorbtion, poison has funky duds, fire has fireproof and a funky duds equivalent, rad has what rads. Think that leaves only the barely used cold damage unattended for, and as mentioned, ballistics)

I believe the reason the mods are expensive is because of the fact that the power armor itself is easy to get and since it rivals T-65 Bethesda had to compromise.

This is the right time for people like me who don't use PA to get into it. Between the Legendary Crafting for PA and the new and sick look of the Hellcat, I can see it easily taking over the meta since it is more of a treat to try and get into PA now. I'll be re-watching your other Big Guns and PA videos to get a grip on this season's stuff.

Excavator does just fine for wanting to get into PA builds. You get it for free from a quest and the mods are bought with caps, plus the extra carry weight for all your fusion cores and ammo

Personally I'm sticking with the T-65 PURELY because I love how it looks over the Hellcat. The Hellcat does look fantastic, but I just really love the look of the T-65 even more. Doesn't hurt that I also already have all the mods for it too. Maybe once I can get my hands on the Hellcat mods and they release some paint jobs for it I may change my mind, but time shall tell I guess.

@Home PC T 65 cost 8500 Gold bullion for me. Hellcat costs 8200 with the same Mods. so its not that cheaper. In fact all T65 helmet mods are free and they are extremly expensive on the Hellcat. so if you want more than one mod is even more expensive than the T65. And you can use Season Event T65 skins on the Hellcat. so if its only look you can make the Hellcat look like the T65.

Rad is unimportant in PA Energie armor is unimportant if you use the legendary perk. so its all about Ballistic damage. and for that its the best armor ingame. And i was on gold bullion cap on release (5k) allready got a full t65 and ss armor. no idea what else should i spend all this stuff. allready back close to 2k so im fine.

Excavators was my favorite for a long time. But then I wanted a jet pack now XO-1 is my go to. I still carry my excavator though because with calibrated shocks that +200 carry weight is hard to beat. 😃

Good choice since its overall better than Hellcat. Ballistic damage mostly comes from random enemies that arent doing a lot of damage(Raiders, scorched etc), so while Hellcat is still a great set of armor, it is only better than T65 against enemies that arent dangerous.

Glad to see this vid cause I just got this reward and though I LOVE my t-65 I absolutely am digging how the hellcat PA looks. I do like to switch up my armors for variety sake sometimes anyway unless im doing something that requires my best gear... But since statistically this set also runs a close enough race with the 65 to not put me out much I feel I can use and enjoy this set more than I woulda otherwise. Thanks for the info again AT. And the red optics guard IS a nice touch. Btw got an assassins 3 star t-65 arm to drop as a reward from the first post update daily Op so fingers crossed everyone has a good first few days post update with their drops.

This was helpful, I got so far 4 peices with 3 star legendary and my energy resistance is about 6% better so my Hellcat is almost exactly like T 65 just need better rads resistance.

Rad resistence doesnt matter in PA you get 90% Rad reduced by the PA effect. If you get 1.6 rads or 1.55 because it has more resistence doesnt matter enough to worry about. If your play fulllife get "What rads" at 2 stars.

The helmet actually does provide a 2% ballistic reduction. It's a hidden effect, but you can clearly see that it does in the code. TYR has a video about it.

I'm currently using the Hellcat. As you say, PA is more than enough to make up the lower energy resist. The mods are pretty expensive but you do get this armor for free so it balances out with the T-65 set I feel.

I'd be very interested in seeing how each performs against melee attacks. Personally I find incoming melee hits to be the most dangerous in game. Ideally testing each with and without Blocker equipped against the same enemy.

The strangler armor poison damage is working now. Can we see how that compares to the new hellcat. If the damage resist isn’t that much of a difference, the extra poison damage will be nice. Also the patch notes said they changed dodgy again but idk exactly what they changed.

I believe that they just made it so that dodgy properly consumes AP when being hit by consecutive shots. I noticed I was having more AP drain after the update.

@Angry Turtle Good video. I'm actually set to get my final mod for the T-65 power armor tomorrow. It has taken me over a month to get it's I haven't been consistent with it. On a side note, thank you for a previous video you did warning us about upgrading our weapons and losing our perks/effects on weapons. My teammate and I were going to upgrade our 2* vampires explosive laser rifles to 3*s. I'm so glad I saw your video the day before the release of steel reign. We definitely would have been devastated, haha.

@@Slybby I find that carry weight in this game is a bigger issue than any enemy. I hardly ever die since I got my armour and I need the mining buff for making ammo (another problem bigger than the hostiles in this game). So the Excavator deals with all of my issues just fine. :) Unless there is an armour that gives you invulnerability or unlimited ammo some how, I have no use for it.

T65 is better i find information about better balistic resistance missleading i think it wasnt better than t65s. Been checking the numbers and both got like 10 u really cant say HC is better…

@@Morderon7 it was against a Mr gutsy that can have armor piercing on their ballistic rounds too which slightly skews in HCs favor. In actual simulations t65 almost always beats hellcat against ballistic dmg if enemy has no armor piercing. That said the difference is very minor (literally 1 damage per attack in either direction) so I don't see turtles opinion changing when he says just use excavators instead.

It's a great test, but it's missing one aspect: The Ballistic Damage was tested against a High Level Gutsy that has Armor-Piercing Shots, which means that most, if not all, of the suit's Armor is ignored and only the Reduction is taken into account, meaning the T-65's 42% Ballistic Damage Reduction vs the Hellcat's total of 47.8% Ballistic Damage Reduction, hence why you see an almost 10% difference in the video. Against Hard-Hitting Enemies that don't pierce Armor, like High Level Super Mutants, the T-65 will outperform the Hellcat. Gutsies can be scary, but outside of special circumstances like Daily Ops, there aren't that many enemies that use Armor-Piercing shots. Still a great video though, and a great (and rare) example of Bethesda actually balancing new content with the old by making Hellcat competitive with T-65! You make great analysis videos Turtle!

I just got done finishing off my T65 and now need to add some legendary effects (reluctantly). I'm going to stick with my investment of time. 10 percent more ballistic protection isn't worth the mindless grind. Plus it is unlikely I will even use it considering it doesn't come with unyielding effect any more. Less synergy with low health build. The only good thing however with legendary effect on power armor is the new armor pieces you can locate. The conversion rate in script is higher than legendary weapons. Unlike when scrapping a power armor piece where you get a pittance compared to regular armor. I think 1 molded plastic and composite? 45 scripts is nice for garbage legendary effects.

looking at the Hellcat, the first thing comes to mind is real life spacesuits, where you need a rear view mirror to look back. there is an actual piece of mirror usually on the arm for the spacemen to look behind. you would need one for the Hellcat too, because you can't look back, not even look sideways. in a real fight, you would be a sitting duck. :) in a T-65/T-60/T-51, at least you can turn your head around.

all power armor gives 90% radidation reduction, which is calculated before radatiation resistance, so while the T65 will be better, it will be only marginally much better. You can always take a Rad-x or a Rad-x diluted to get even lower radiation.

in short, the hellcat is better against the average human/scorch/mine moler, while the T65 is better allaround. the mod grinding is the same from a starting standpoint, so it's a non-issue the hellcat chestpiece have a better look than the "pots and pan" of the 65, the rest I consider more or less equivalent we'll see about the skins side, as some of the older painset would look beutyfull on the hellcat

I like the T65 but it looks so smooth which is my LEAST favorite thing in power armor, like the whole point T51 and T60 was so popular was because they had so much more geometry. Hellcat wins in looks for me, but T65 is better for general defense

Unmodded its much easier - getting fully modded versions are surprisingly similar timeframes since hellcat mods cost almost as much as t65 plan+mods.

As I cannot decide... I carry both with me... I know... It is hard for me to pick one. I use Union for every-day tasks and normal events. I switch PA in the following cases: Expeditions -> Hellcat, Daily Ops (Robots, Communists and Aliens) -> T65, Daily Ops (Super Mutants and others) -> Hellcat, Daily Ops (with armor penetration, except aliens) -> Hellcat, Daily Ops (Toxic Blood) -> Union and finally in Public Events (depending on the mobs, except Moonshine) I use Hellcat. In Moonshine I always use Union due to the innate Poison resistance. For the rest of the Public Events I use T65 except when dealing with Super Mutants. For Muated Public Events i apply the same rules than Daily ops. I feel differences and higher survavility rates when doing this

It's perfect for me because never did any grinding for PA yet, I'm still trying to finish my set of secret service armor (as a returning player of course lol) So this is awesome news for me, a slap in the face for others. I was running ultracite pa for a long time, I always thought "meh good enough". The mods are expensive but I think it's only because we're handed this for free, I might still try for t65 if it's as good as people say

For anyone curious that is about to get hellcat or who are trying to get hellcat as soon as you get the mission and complete it which is called the catalyst I believe soon as you complete you get the plans and you also get a free full suit of hellcat powers armor with a fusion core so you don't have to build it right away and waste materials

Unrelated to power armor I've noticed that explosive weapons including the legendary effect are actually registering damage wayy better my 2* explosive laser rifle finally does the damages it should against scorched beast along with my missile launcher and mirv my gamma gun even does better I'm able to kill level 100 muties with it I haven't tested it on a player yet but it will really help not only vet players but new players too pvp has changed alot this update is quite exciting

What would they even buff though? The T-65 already has diminishing returns on ALL of it's resistances. Even if you gave each one an extra 100, the increase to the actual amount resisted would be so marginal it wouldn't matter.

Glad I can still stick with my t 65. I would have been so pissed if all that grind was for nothing when a power armor you completed from a quest was on the same level or even surpassed it. Hellcat seems good for those who haven't got t 65 but it seems like if you've already got t 65 your still fine

ah did you look the same video? its 10% better against ballistic damage. for Energie you have legendary perk electric absorb that makes you immortal against energie damage even sheepsquatch imposter cant kill you with this perk and for mele you have blocker. and ballistic damage is the most common ingame. i will go for a legendary overeater hellcat. that will push it to nearly 90% resist against ballistic even more against mele and god mode against energie. and this without emergency protokols... lol it will be so funny.

Kind of annoyed at how well the Hellcat armor compares to the T-65. I have been rolling in T65 since I got all the plans and mods to make it my commuter power armor. Absolutely love it. But the fact that you can get Hellcat power armor which is almost as good as T65 for no effort really devalues T-65 especially how much more effort it takes to actually get it. T-65, T-51, X-01 and Ultracite really should get legendary effects baked into it. Here is what I would like to see for legendary set bonuses for each set. Raider = +5% melee weapon damage per piece. T-45 = Reduced weapons weight by 4% per each piece. T-51 = Reduced explosive damage by 5% each piece. (it was designed to go to war against tanks). T- 60 = Reduced repair requirements. (yeah there is a perk you can use, but T-60 is known for how easy it is to maintain and do field repairs). X-01 = +5% plasma weapon damage per piece. OR reduced AP use when activating armor abilities (like jump packs or sprinting). Ultracite = +8% damage increase when using Ultracite weapons, flat 10% increase in damage (to all weapons) against scorched and scorch beasts when equipped with all 5 pieces. Strangler Heart = keep the current effect, but also add health regen during battle, 1.5hp per second for full set, but reduce effectiveness of stimpacks by 20%. T-65 = +5% damage increase per piece for Gauss weapons, 10% damage reduction to all damage types except cryo when equipped with all 5 pieces.

That's actually a half decent ideas. T-51 I feel should boost heavy weapons sense thats what they where used for do to such weapons being previously unusable (story wise). All power armour where replacements to tanks, not actively fighting tanks. A powerarmour unit would likely encounter the same weaknesses as a IFV in the field against a tank and my proof is this. Tank shells concussive blast will kill you and no armour stops that because under current knowledge no armour of equitable use (even under context of powerarmour) can stop a blast like that, let along a he shell which would likely be used by the Chinese sense US tanks seemed to be used domestically only. If they didn't, modern sabot shells can peirce about 650mm of armour on the lower end and about 900mm on the high end so you can probably imagine what they would have in 2077. Before you ask, he shells can peirce depending on a metricton ton of factors and shell types and models 400mm of armour in best scenario, roughly about 100mm atleast. To convert mm to inches divide by ten, if you don't know how much that is and realize heavy guns need someone to love them. Sorry for me being a nerd.

the new hellcat power armor looks great but... not enough to make me change my t65 for 2 reasons: 10% difference in the ballistic test is about 1 point of damage and consistency in not having to mind what kind of enemy I'm fighting is of greater value for me and I'm managed to put jetpack in my t65 arm alongside a core assembly in my torso something I cannot do in the hellcat one....

My honest opinion is hellcat power armor is better than t65 because of the special effect but now we have union power is better than t65 and hellcat because of the effect 75 extra carry weight and poison resistance the union power armor is especially good doing the scorch beast queen public event especially when the queen spawns scorch miluk kings hunters and sometimes a scorch miluk queen those things are instant death if I don't have poison resistance

I have exact opposite opinion. For PVE - T65 since its a better all-rounder, you will receive less both melee and energy damage, and ballistics in PVE is both rare and not dangerous For PVP - Hellcat, since most of the players use ballistics damage

Thanks for the comparison. I see the point that hellcat has the 10% ballistic advantage but it has less than 10% more ballistic protection. Do you think overall that it holds up better than T-65? I would’ve been interested to see how long it takes for Mr Gutsy to drain your full health with both power armors. Or does it not matter what the defense value says?

All Power Armors are "incomplete", since the frame makes up for the parts of the armor that isn't totally covered, otherwise you would be unable to move. Kinda like how regular armor and underamor works

Its not additive but multiplicative operation so you never can get 100% damage reduction. In addition i remember having read that theres a cap on 90% in total.

Its a difference grinding gold for a T65 set and a jetpack plus other mods or grind out the jetpack and Mods for a existing set you get for questing.

I found it better to go T65 because your health doesnt drain as fast in Nuke zones. Radiation does matter. With one of my armor pieces having -15% damage from Scorched and one with -15% damage from supermutants, i ended up with far better resistance than hellcat
