The used market is actually being flooded with repossessed Hellcats and Scats, and tons of base V6 Chargers. Back in 2005 Ford dealerships were selling the GT super cars for $150-$175,000. Today those are rare collectibles going for $300,000-$400,000+ for obvious reasons. I can probably see this with the Vipers possibility one day, but I can’t see the Hellcats and Scats increasing like that because the market is saturated with them. They’re not hard to find new or used, but dealerships are in denial.

I'm an RT owner, had several and was part of the Chrysler working family for a bit. I have to admit after working on these for over 12 years now, the LD, LX platform minus some of the newer engine platforms are really antiquated and they show their age really quick. It's no wonder they cannot keep any value now or after 3 years. Not so much apparent 2 years ago with what was on the market. But this year, and next, they are showing their age in build and quality and everything is surpassing the genre. Everything is changing. Again and again.

40k mark up is why they aren’t selling. The worse I saw was what GM did to a C8 Z06 with that 100k mark up. Also got a new a subscriber

They're not selling in the STL area either.The same dealer I got my RE from last year has several RTs, Scats, and an hemi orange edition scat that have been sitting on the lot around 60 days or more. They weren't doing markups when I bought my car but I don't know if they are now or not.

Hell yeah, fantastic news. The more of these dealerships that close up shop the better off we all are. They did this to themselves with the last few years of markups. Saw a Civic Type R priced $50,000 above MSRP. A $85,000 Honda Civic. Do I need to say it again? They've also been running with the fully loaded "special edition" BS as well. When every single car on the lot is a special edition, ain't none of them special or unique.

If you think the prices of 110k for a jailbreak is absurd. The new 2024 limited Ram 2500, goes for MSRP of around 105k. The same dealer that was selling the 2024 Limited for around 105k, had a fully loaded all black brand new with 12 miles on the clock 2023 Jailbreak Challenger with HK stereo, alcantera, sunroof for 86k. Yes this car wasn't in some large metro area but in a small farming community in the midwest but close enough to fly in, catch a cab and then drive the car home. You can find these Hellcats all over for close to MSRP, you just have to scour the web in the small markets.

He was very honest right out the gate. However, it's ridiculous how dealerships are trying to capitalize off these hellcats just because they're going to stop production on the V8's.

I get the conversation and trying to see what the salesman says about markups, but they don't know. The sales person has no say so in the price. I like the discussion but would like to see you have the same questions for GM and see what they say. I think that would be fun :)

I been patiently waiting to buy one of these cars since 2016 lol but now that I have all my financials in order I’ll be a fool to go grab one with those crazy mark ups smh!! If Dodge eventually offers rebates/incentives such as power dollars because too many of their vehicles are sitting on dealer lots collecting dust, how will that work if dealers are still asking over MSRP? Consumers see a Dodge Power Dollars commercial get excited and drive down to their local Dodge dealer just to find out that the dealer still has everything marked up over msrp, which would negate any incentives I assume.

Dealer near me doesn't do markups. They have 10 Challengers (GT, SP, & a widebody) on the lot. They all have manufacture dates (according to the window sticker ) of February, March, and April... They also have both of their Hornets, nobody wants them either.

As scathing as this video is, I have trouble trusting the phone call. Just a year ago I was on the phone with what felt like hundreds of dealerships because I live in a small town and there is only two dealerships in my town. So, all of my dealer contact was on the phone with out of town dealers. Not one of them even mentioned dealer markup over the phone. I'm going to bet less than half of them mentioned dealer markup when I asked about the price in person. Hearing a sales rep just disclose the markup over the phone before even taking their shot at trying to make the sale in person, is such an astronomically bad sales move that I have difficulty believing that's actually a sales rep.

I think this is more of a location thing(not the markups, but the excessive inventory). Cause I'm not seeing anything near that where I'm at (or $150 fillups).

The dealerships are basing their prices on the fact that these cars will be classics once there is no more V8 but like the who's final concert sometimes it turns out they come out of retirement and your final concert ticket that you've been saving for 20 years hoping that it's turned into an investment is no longer an investment the only way these cars can be an investment is if you never drive them and hand them over to Jay Leno so he can keep them in his Museum with zero miles

A lot of these businesses are over leveraged they financed all this shit too they got greedy and thought they’d make way more than they bought them for and refuse to sell at a lower price because they would “lose” money on paper. It’s going to take some time for them to realize the party is over and they have to cut prices to sell.

Dodge dealer near me always has packed parking lot of new cars, and never has any buyers. You see them rotating them around the lot because they don't sell but they want to give the impression that they do. I felt one time like walking in, telling them "I'll give you 5K cash right now, for this vehicle. You don't have any buyers anyways." and see what they say but obviously they would hold tight because they want 100k+ per vehicle. In their minds, no sale is better than selling at under MSRP.

The problem were banks who were giving credit to anyone with a pulse and car dealership took advantage of that and jacked up the prices, so now repos are through the roof and I don't feel sorry for the banks or the dealerships.
@CaesarTorres-rp7qc Жыл бұрын
Laughable. Dealer in that was videoed storing cars in underground parking lot still holding out for the markup. Was told 40k markup on wide body red eye. We kept talking and he came down to 15k “but that’s the lowest” and said “the owner will just put away the cars we don’t sell”. If that dealer is willing to take that loss then let’s see. Not buying. Keep all of them.

I'm not finding this in my area, but I see it as encouraging. Forced EV is just not going to work no matter what's happening on the lots. Add to that the dealers and corporate appreciate how profitable and desirable this product is. Things are looking good for the big backlash.
