Ok, this is getting out of hand. Pilestedt is still Chairman, Founder, and primary Owner of Arrowhead Game Studios, the company name is partially from HIS name. He's stepping away from the CEO seat because he prefers creative work rather than business crap. Sony does not own Arrowhead, Sony does not have a say in the management of Arrowhead, and if Jorjani steps out of line Pilestedt is still his boss and can fire him at any time. Why was Jorjani chosen? Because he was the business guy they worked with when they published Magika and did right by them then. Yes he's from Paradox, but he's OLD Paradox, employee number 23, one of the guys that made it a behemoth, not one of the idiots currently driving it into the ground, he left in 2021 and has been doing indie work since, last thing I can find with his name on it is Xenonauts 2.

I think Pilestedt puts it best himself: "Now I can finally focus all my effort entirely on balancing and game design instead of Quarterly Reports". This was a great move because he really didn't like the direction the game was heading in, so he chose to take the wheel on that front directly into his own hands. Now he has someone at the helm of the company he trusts and can talk to as equals, while being able to do what he actually loves. Jorjani has some Godzilla sized foot and ballprints to fill, but if Pilestedt thinks the man is up for the job, I trust his judgement.

In the case of HD2 I don't think we actually need different modes-we just need more chips in the existing bag. That means objectives, enemy types, weather events, etc. etc. The only significant drops there've been since launch is the addition of weather events, and the mech (which sucks).

Mech is fun, but so many rockets needed for chargers it can realistically only kill 1. No biles without a lot of luck. But aside from that it's great fun to stomp around mowing down swathes of bugs for a couple of minutes. Players finishing objectives too fast shouldn't be an issue tied to releases cause the objectives are on a timer. Sometimes they end the order sooner and replace it with another one, sometimes we didn't get a replacement for a while. Sometimes order can stay up even after 'being completed' (there are "ensure Super earth controls these planets" missions that do not necessarily end when helldivers liberate said planets because there can be planet defences too)

the better example for HD2 lack of progression is Warframe. Warframe you battle mission by mission to reach the boss mission to receive loot and access to the next planet. Warframe you level up each weapon (primary, secondary and melee) and each frame to mod it and make it more powerful Warframe have a in-game history that is told to you as you play that makes you want to do the next one to know how the story goes. For some reason, with this game, the community seems to completely loose their minds, like balancing, vast majority of people have no idea what they’re talking about, talking about not enough content in a three month old game made by small studio, people moaning that they can’t play the same game for three months straight without getting burned out, oh no what a tragedy. The game is doing fine, it’s not an mmo to play for decades, it’s a co-op extraction shooter, people seriously need to chill and just f****** play something else once in a while.

@italianspiderman5012 it's a coop extraction shooter with a live service model. The game release with rather uninteresting missions and terrible map layouts where 90% of missions could be done by running in a circle only to find the same 5 poi and maybe get supercredits to avoid paying more money for a game you just bought. The game has tried to do things about this but it's just resulted in an influx or area defense, and not actually something cool. Even the command center missions are bland and can be done without realizing it. We all toss strikes into the base already. They have yet to add a new enemy that feels good to fight. The flyers are interesting but their collision physics are no better than the bile Titans which makes them terrible and annoying. The gunships are fun but you either see 1-2 or 8-9 and no in-between becuase of both their low rates of spawn making it an afterthought and spawning randomly on the map where you don't find it immediately. The walkers are just a meatshield with a mobile factory to try and make them interesting instead of leaning into that walking weapons platform fantasy. Would've been nice to see that become the command center instead. People will complain about the guns but it's the lack of interesting content only made cool by having friends to play with that drives people away. When guns are the only reason to come back, why should anyone come back when half of every new drop sucks?
@Tardo84
@Tardo84 4 ай бұрын
They could add a bunch of different game modes, especially with the vehicles. Convoy missions, like on rails, where the players just mount the guns on the trucks. Expand on that it's on rails from outpost to outpost and on some you’ll have to do wave defense. Maybe, Titan hunt where all start out in mechs. Not saying the options are endless, but there are some ^^

CEO is a fluid position. When a company enters a new phase of existence, the way the previous CEO ran the company may not be compatible with the direction the company is going. People go in and out of the CEO position as they are needed. The fact that he stepped down in favor of another CEO taking over is a great example of leadership; he is thinking of the company's future, not his own. He may take the CEO chair back in the future, he may not. Stepping down is not a shameful act nor is it indicative of a failing company.

The reason why all this happened has been ignored and we're now dealing with the people who like to watch things burn swarm every comments section about the game with the same bullshit. This is (as Asmon rightly points out) an entirely uncontroversial and positive move, not least because it's been clear for some time that the creative direction had been completely drowned out by the game's unprecedented success at launch and the massive PR shit storm that was unleashed by Sony's bullshit c-suite shenanigans. People are insane. They play the game for 50/100/200+ hours and expect it to entertain them throughout their lives, forgetting that it is a $40 game developed by a relatively small team. Even the CEO during the first month after the launch said in the tweet that it's healthy to take breaks from the game, and they, in fact, expect players to abandon it and then periodically come back when there's new major content. He mentioned it was designed this way - to make you feel like you're missing out by not playing.

Some of us played halo 2 and 3 for well over 6k hours or more. Some for several years. So yeah Some games are just that good will keep you entertained for decades. What about world of warcraft? People are still playing it. Decades after its released, it's still entertaining. Maybe you have been playing garbage games and you don't know what a good game is really like. Or what it feels like to always have certain games that you can keep coming back to play after many years. The price of the game doesn't matter by the way.

The main problem with HD2 is that there is nothing to CARE about, the story is boring, there is no characters with a story or are interesting, the major orders feel pointless since you could do a lot and loose it or nothing and win it. There are really no surprises or big events that gets people interested, its just an endless war simulator were you level up. they need to think bigger on the game and the potentials there but i feel like it will be a long time before we see something big with HD2. if they wanted to they could pull a FF14 2.0 like situation if they wanted too and be legendary. but at the moment the game only has gameplay and really nothing else.

I stopped playing HD2 a few days before the sony shenanigans. As for my reasons... I can't stand spending my time in a game where the ADS scope isn't properly aligned (on the AMR)... and instead of fixing these issues, new paid battlepass rolls out and what does that means ? that means for the next week I'll get no progression until I either pay or grind out the credits. I just dont feel the game want me playing anymore.

The weapon balancing issues compound with the no alternative game mode and no real endgame. I do want to play the game more but I'm using the same weapons(not even the same weapons because the balance team keep shrinking the list of fun weapons to use) on the same mission types and same stratagems and if I deviate I have a worse time.

@Zaney_
@Zaney_ 4 ай бұрын
@@PlaceOfDestinationThose aren't builds. You always take eagles and orbitals along with a support weapon. Autocannon is the best support weapon for bots,I'm well aware of that. All sentries is useless outside of eradication, unless you want to run around without a support weapon and be useless when they go on a 3m cool down. even in that mission type, you'll have to rely on your team to take out all heavy units. I'm not saying all the weapons and stratagems are bad, I played the game a lot but the bad balancing disisions are only shrinking the list of fun primary weapons especially with the nerfs to so many of them. I'll be one to say, I'll use different stuff if I can and if it's fun. Like ballistic shield with smg.

Helldivers 2 has the diversity of gameplay options, but the most of the choice isn't in the players hands, it is forced onto them. If a player could choose to do a planet defence or planet offence mission, or what planet modifiers are active, or there was always a bug and a bot order active at the same time to choose which one they want to play today, or they could choose which difficulty modifiers they want to add, and so on. But the game decides what players do. You get forced to play on certain planets. You get forced to do defence missions. You get forced to take difficulty modifiers you might not enjoy like reduced stratagems. So you lose the illusion of choice.

IMO, HD2's main issues are: - lack of player numbers overall; - mob spawn rates per player in the session at any time; - most stratagem weapons are broken useless; - player power is the same no matter the difficulty => you as the player feel powerless the higher you go, thus more than "challenging" is useless; - SONY is a no small factor and part of the problem; - no lobby to ask for a party; - etc..

The first types of missions would contribute smallest amount towards liberation but it would only be 3 missions in a zone n all missions are 10-20 min long ( around n hr total cause that what a majority of people get a day) second type of mission zones need to b a mix of 10-40 minute missions and then the 3 type would be all 40 minute long missions and would contribute a significant amount more to liberation

Gun balance is the reason I can't get myself to play anymore, every gun I unlocked was worse than the previous, only 3 maybe 4 that I managed to get didn't feel like I was shooting nerf darts, 2 of which are shotguns. Then there's the charger bugs who are just annoying, one is fine, but getting jumped by 4 of them at the same time just makes me ragequit, same with the spitters instantly killing you with no time to react or stim, I'd rather fight 10 or 100x more normal bugs and get overwhelmed than being sent 10 tanks I don't have the weapons to kill because I didn't equip a rocket launcher.

Helldivers 2 just needs to iron out the bugs and server issues then it'll have some longevity. Like there'll be times when my friends and I wanna sit down and play a long sesh and we're all pumped for it and then 2 or 3 missions in it'll just randomly start kicking us for no reason and send us back to our ship and the guys that are still on the map lose samples because they're not dropping when it kicks whoever was carrying them out. Or we'll become unable to interact with mission objectives stopping us from finishing the main mission. Or start randomly encountering enemies stuck in walls near objectives that you cant kill but they can still fire at and kill you. Shit like that just kills ya buzz to play the game for prolonged periods of time.
