Exactly We must awake to our awful situation (The most important below are 14, 16, 18, 20, and 25. Especially 14 and 25): 13 And it came to pass that Akish gathered in unto the house of Jared all his kinsfolk, and said unto them: Will ye swear unto me that ye will be faithful unto me in the thing which I shall desire of you? 14 And it came to pass that they all sware unto him, by the God of heaven, and also by the heavens, and also by the earth, and by their heads, that whoso should vary from the assistance which Akish desired should lose his head; and whoso should divulge whatsoever thing Akish made known unto them, the same should lose his life. 15 And it came to pass that thus they did agree with Akish. And Akish did administer unto them the oaths which were given by them of old who also sought power, which had been handed down even from Cain, who was a murderer from the beginning. 16 And they were kept up by the power of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of wickedness and whoredoms. 17 And it was the daughter of Jared who put it into his heart to search up these things of old; and Jared put it into the heart of Akish; wherefore, Akish administered it unto his kindred and friends, leading them away by fair promises to do whatsoever thing he desired. 18 And it came to pass that they formed a secret combination, even as they of old; which combination is most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God; 19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man. 20 And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people, and they are had among the Lamanites. 21 And they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi. 22 And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed; for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them and yet he avenge them not. 23 Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain-and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be. 24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you; or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up. 25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning. 26 Wherefore, I, Moroni, am commanded to write these things that evil may be done away, and that the time may come that Satan may have no power upon the hearts of the children of men, but that they may be persuaded to do good continually, that they may come unto the fountain of all righteousness and be saved. -Excerpt is from Ether 8 in "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ". @@keithfilibeck2390 Was discussing this with a friend of mine; What does school actually teach? In my opinion, it's just a way to train would-be-factory-workers. Don't question anything you're presented just memorize and repeat, which is ideal for factory work. Bells telling you when to change classes/lunches? That just evolves in to Breaks/Lunch time / Quitting time. After the 3rd grade I can't really say anything i learned has been "applied" Sure I know how to do algebra and understand sentence structure (verb/adverb/Pronoun etc) but none of that is useful at 99% of jobs. And those jobs that DO require such specified knowledge wants college-educated-level people. I understand that if you want to get in to Quantum-Mechanics having knowledge of algebra is a must have. But requiring every single student to not only take, but pass Algebra 2, just to end up at a position that will never use it, again a waste of time. Memorizing state-approved facts regarding history sounds cool in theory, but in the real world most of it's just surface level conversation topics at best. Nobody gives a single F*** who won the battle of 1912, or where Custards Last Stand was (Battle of little bighorn). When you apply to a job none of that matters. It's simply "Can you show up every single day, and accept poverty level wages?" There was never a single point where i was educated about just how cut-throat entering the work place would be. In hindsight, outside of being a glorified daycare; school was simply a preparation for lambs before the slaughter.

Bro I work with kids who want to learn olympiad math and let me tell you something, IDK what goes on in other countries, but where I'm from, schools are specifically designed to make kids fully stop using their brain and learn to follow instructions. It's one of the most "Black Mirror" Aware type things for me to see a kid who got that treatment for a few years, as well as their teachers and parents. You try your best to salvage the situation and teach the student to think, but everyone seems to try to halt your progress, it's plain awful. A few of my university m8s who actually work as teachers told me horrible things about schools and "education", and it correlates completely with what I see when a kid comes to the 101 class and just hates math and thinking in general. Usually, if given enough time, they start developing cognitive abilities and become interested in the subject, all you have to do is give them cool problems that challenge them without being overly boring, tell something cool, discuss practical applications of unusual stuff... however, that's why I said "given enough time". Parents tend to terminate classes or insist on following the school programme written by an idiot. It's so disheartening when you want to hepl a person and everyone in their life doesn't...

Math is actually fun.. when taught right. Especially frameworks. Like formulas rules pemdas positive negative right there for you to not forget anything. And with that a way to check your answers. Also knowing how to do every problem with a step by step process. But it isn't taught that way. Knowing how to do it then getting confidence to do it in your head. Along with not being bashed if you get it wrong. Just saying they made a mistake or forgot something. Not making students feel or treating them like complete failures and losers. Even more so at higher maths. Literally once you know how to do it it's easy. So framework and rules are super important. It makes math like an ordinary task vs literal "rocket science". 😅
@mityakiselev
@mityakiselev 2 күн бұрын
@@Neroskully It's actually a bit more complicated than that, if you just give the student a step-by-step guide they won't learn to think, you have to find specific exercises ranging from easiest to really difficult in order to explain to them intuitively how the structure works. I really like olympiad tasks because the answer is usually right there, sometimes the overall phrasing points at it, but if you don't use your brain there isn't a great chance of solving it. Can't train a student to mindlessly solve that stuff using an algorithm, but if they're interested and you show them how all of these different tasks use the same principle, they'll start to analyze them and learn. Beautiful but rarely happens since most parents just want you to "explain long division by a 4-digit number in 1 hour" and the kid's textbook looks horrific, the most boring ass tasks imaginable.

As a former teacher, we are told to teach children what to think. At Professional Development, we're taught what to think. I remember 2 years ago, I got reamed out for referring to my girlfriend at the time as my girlfriend and not my partner. I found out that referring to my "partner" as my "girlfriend" is homophobic and exclusionary. See, using a gendered term to describe someone close to me is non inclusive language and thusly, hateful. When I asked why I need to be inclusive when it comes to MY personal relationship, I was told that it could be triggering for someone who doesn't conform to gender norms, i.e. non binary. Naturally, I asked why they would care about when the term isn't even referring to them. The person silently glared at me, then went back to talking to all the teachers. To this day, I still don't understand, but people will still say its hateful, without providing any logical argument as to why. They are simply parroting what others have said, relying on their reasoning for it to make sense, never pondering on it themselves.

This is a common take, but not really historical. Socrates was convicted more so of impiety than “corruption of the youth”. Also the “corruption of the youth” wasn’t so much these darn kids are giving me respect but more “these darn kids temporarily overthrew democracy and established a tyrannical oligarchy”. Socrates and others got a blanket amnesty for their involvement in that, but you can imagine some people were a bit sore about the whole thing and might wanted to see him punished via some other charge.

As a kid I was always thinking outside the box and teachers ongoingly punished me for it growing up, they kept trying to make me think and be like everyone else and I even tried to do it but couldn't. I cannot imagine letting someone else think for me. I cannot imagine not having questions, not analyzing a situation and using critical thinking skills. I do it everyday. And jobs, bosses, teachers...none of them have honestly liked me for it. It definitely does get in the way of my ability to succeed in society. Since I don't have power, friends with power, a lot of money or financial backing I don't have the resources to actually create my own work, but I am not giving up. This is the biggest reason I don't want to work for other people is I do not want them to tell me what I can and can't say and what I can and can't think. It's been scary to me for a long time how society operates they literally pretend to respect free speech and critical thinking while blatantly punishing those that go against their agenda. And let's be honest, most of the people going against their group thinking aren't terrorists they're people who critically think and don't follow for the sake of following, but rather take a deep dive into controversial issues to try and understand the subject matter from all sides and personally I believe everyone should think this way. It is a crying shame so many people live their lives never truly thinking for themselves and it's because this culture taught them if they wanted to succeed and be popular and not get fired, cast out, hurt...that's what they have to do. This is definitely taught at an early age IN schools.

Consequences when it's someone else in the outgroup = accountability. Consequences when it's you in the out group = persecution. In my experience this is how a lot of people think. When it's something you agree with and someone who disagrees with it gets punished for it, they perceive it as good, when it's the other way around, then it's bad.

@@arizona_anime_fan I was fired from high school teaching job as well, in Arizona. Because I did the same thing. Districts are funded by the state/government based on how many students are sitting in those desks. They are also funded based on their Grade Rating of the School and District. The more students fail the lower that Grade Rating lowers. The less funding that District gets. If you were to read or grade the students papers, it's pretty bad. Our educational system is failing our kids. I have no hope for the future of this country honestly. There are plenty of good teachers out there but the bad teachers outweigh the good and the system goes against anyone who has free thinking for both students and faculty. I no longer teach and went back to what I did in the military before teaching. I make more money doing it. My kids also go to charter school. Public education is no longer feasible. If you can homeschool, or send them to charter/private schools, do it! They are less likely to indoctrinate your child because they are funded by YOU the parent. And when they get to that college age, do not send them there, they will be in debt for the rest of their lives with this type of economy. Trade school is where to go. Its the new world we live in. Sadly. EDIT: Our current governor here "Hobbs" is for public school and against school choice. So that doesn't help either.

Thinking is difficult in the sense of coming to terms of what you truly can't do. We all lead lives by deluding ourselves because the truth is painful. You're only useful to someone until you aren't. One of the most powerful things as much as I truly hate it is someone's perception is their reality. Even if it has nothing to do with anything. I guarantee if you could watch your own life be recorded it's scary how not accurate our recollection of events actually is. We polish up a memory that may or may not be true or might be partially true. Also, how much of yourself is real if you don't actually remember things correctly or truly have an ability to comprehend things? No one wants to admit they are wrong. No one wants to admit their memory and other things are fallable. The brightest person in a room is sometimes the individual who truly realizes how little they know. But also come to the realization very few people are special and really don't know as much as they think. Thinking can be paralyzing if it consumes your life. If you don't have the power to make a difference. I think the sign of a times is people being buried for actually thinking. It's simply easier for the masses not to think due to the actual consequences of stopping and thinking.

Yup. Thats why religion exists. Ahem "God works in mysterious ways" "Its all a part of the divine plan" "God exists beyond our minds we can't criticize him or test him hes beyond us" 100% agree. 75% of the world pleads ignorance to super natural forces.

to be fair, thinking can get extremely difficult. level 0 is like thoughts popping into your head and just going with them without further analysis. the commonly misunderstood 'natural selection' comes to mind: whatever persists, keeps propagating -- if people can survive without thinking much, we will continue having a lot of people who do just that.

thinking is tiring and time consuming, so it's not entirely illogical that most of the time, people just react rather than think. but for critical moments, it is better to think than just react

I was lucky to have a teacher in high school like this. At one point they wanted to make us students sign a paper saying we wouldn’t bullying, and I objected to it and questioned the need for it. He supported me and my classmates and encourages us to ask questions and critically think about things like this. Ask questions like could we legally sign something like this, is there a need for it, what are we to be held liable with and what is even considered bullying per their terms. I went to a small school, everyone knew everyone. My graduating class was like 12 kids. There wasn’t a need and it was something being imposed on us from the new principle. And I never had to sign it. People should be encouraged to think critically and find their own perspectives. That’s the power of diversity. It’s not about the color of your skin, which is what people today are being told it is. Diversity is the difference of opinions based on experiences and cultures etc. what these people do is fear that and fight against it as if their life depends on it.

i guess we all have this kind of teacher once. but in the end, the teacher who shows to the internet that teacher like this is exist are problem. the school or the system (?) doesn't want other teachers get motivated by this kind of teaching.

I wish he did say the school's name. I 100% understand the concept of not divulging because of the amount of hate on the internet. I will say it seems strange that no students have come out as "He works at this school". I see how someone could see its fake though without any proof he works at a school whatsoever, but I also could see how it could be real in the current environment. I doubt it would have had to do with the "teaching students how to think" and more "you brought up a controversial political topic and spread it across the internet which may or may not reflect the university." This said I don't know, but I highly believe it would be the second one even though it's still wrong in my opinion given how he asked the questions he didn't lead or force anyone into any train of thought on the topic other than developing their own opinion of it. Its not even an end all be all as the student does more research in the topic he could decide the first opinion was correct, but then he could articulate himself better with the evidence if it exists.

Props to the teacher for guiding the student towards how to research and think for yourself, and props to the kid for the "I feel like an idiot now." It takes a lot to admit being wrong or feeling stupid, because no one ever wants to be wrong or stupid.

…but … but … he holds a viewpoint that people on the right may hold, so that automatically makes him a right-winger, does it not. That’s how we’re supposed to view things. Based on such, we obviously have to totally discard everything he says now. We can’t have someone in academia expressing views or opinions that some people on the right may hold, as well … and what exactly deems something to be “right-wing”? Well, because I said so. If it goes against what I believe is politically righteous, he’s expressing and encouraging right-wing views. Duh. He made a video talking about Hollywood pandering and failing to use logical thinking with their media? That is totally a right winger. I’ve seen people on the right talk about that stuff so that means he’s one of them. There are no individuals. He even read from the Daily Wire at some point - now that’s a far right extremist thing to do, is it not? See, a total right-winger. I don’t need to hear anything else from him as I’ve done made my mind up about him: he’s a grifter pushing right-wing ideals in academia. We cannot have that. That’s not what critical thinking is about. It’s about coming to conclusions that align with me politically. You just can’t hold views and opinions that may hold some right-wing sentiment (and I base that on my own political leanings, because anything that’s the opposite on what I view as being good is obviously right-wing). It’s very dangerous and promotes people to look at both sides - now THAT is scary because it has people listening to right-wing extremists that say things I don’t agree with, and it’s dangerous to let people hear out extremists. We need to stifle their ability to ever spread such hate, especially in academic settings. 2 tons of sarcasm, by the way.

14:23 Education is NOT corporation. Obviously a lot of schools rely on the types of public funding theyre able to access, but that should never take priority over the substance of education provided. Being taught (literally) gay shit over a macbook is NEVER going to be equivalent to actually being given the harsh truth of reality through the use of a goddamn dry erase.
