This game brought back together all my buddies from the OG days of Halo 3 mp. Only now, we are in our mid 30's with young families yet still screaming at each other at 2am on HELLDIVE difficulty before we have to be up for work in several hours. It's been ages since I've played a game sandbox that organically creates so many laughs, sweaty moments, clutch plays and memories all at the same time.

The free battlepass has the best weapons, like the Defender SMG and the Breaker shotgun. As they said in the video, you get Super Credits from the free pass and also a ton more during missions. This game is fantastic and the community is great too. You don't need to have friends joining you to complete high level missions, going in with randoms will do fine.

The little details are great for example the bugs have the same nervous system as a bug even if you kill them they can attack and move for a little bit. Actually it does scale with player count

No it doesn't. The reason why it feels like you're getting swarmed more is because of detection. If you're on your own, the battle is smaller, making it easier to contain. With 4 people running around aggro-ing patrols, each player can send down 4 different reinforcements at the same time.

The game is fantastic. There's a lot of weapons to use, the weapons have very noticeable impact on enemies, you feel like a badass with all the attacks you have, the combat is intense at the higher difficulty levels, and the game is only $40. Can't wait for the free content updates

Two things, the difficulty DOES scale to your playercount (7:14), and it can sometimes be easier to run a two man squad than a four man squad, even on higher difficulties because of that. You get more rewards with a bigger group, but if teammates are burning up your reinforce and getting patrols called on you, you can do it with fewer people. Second, you can choose which voice you'd like your Helldiver to have. If you like getting a new voice everytime, you can keep it on random, but the option is there to pick one permanently. I'm also surprised that this review didn't account for the fact that matchmaking issues are caused by the huge surge of players. Once the playercount stabilizes, that should resolve itself.

you can get pretty far w/ random players too... I've successfully cleared all difficulties but the very last one w/ randos w/out any issue, as long as they are not newbies or griefers (later are few and far between, only encountered 1 during my 80+ hours playing this)... that being said it is indeed way more enjoyable playing w/ friends, old or new... me personally, have made 2 dozen friends on this game alone, for a usually quite nice to each other, likely cuz is a PvE exclusive title... game is great really XD

The Gameguard anti cheat ruins the game on PC. The game will often fail to open because Gameguard will claim it has errors or isn't up to date. Or Gameguard will hard crash the game leaving the only option to unplug the system. It also is always active which can effect the whole PC, not just the game. So many people, myself included. Have had issues where Gameguard won't even allow us to open other games. Spamming errors everytime you try to open them. I'm not trying to discourage people from playing this game. It's truly a great game when you can play. Just annoying everyone talks this game up but never mentions this glaring issue.

Difficulty does actually scale to player count. With fewer players in a lobby, you will see smaller patrols, featuring less dangerous mixes of enemies, as well as smaller quantities of high-tier enemies. For example, on difficulty 9 (the max), two players might face reinforcements/patrols with 0 - 2 tanks along with a cluster of light infantry. With four players, you will see patrols and reinforcements featuring both varieties of tank, both varieties of dreadnought, light walkers, exploding suicide infantry, heavy and light infantry. All at the same time.

Because it’s published by Sony but they don’t own the studio only the IP. Their previous game never had these numbers. They did not expect this level of success. They can’t keep up. Every time they increase or fix the servers within minutes it’s squeaky bum time again. It’s already getting better every day though. I’ve barely had issues.

The studio have already said that they didn't anticipate this kind of success and allocated a set number of server space based on the last game. They're working very hard on expanding that right now. It's Sony published but the studio isn't owned by Sony. They're a small team of about 100 staff.

Some of ya are major capping about this game. It's fun. Don't get me wrong, but once you reach level 30, it's just grinding for slightly better ship upgrades and farming 100 medals for one gun. Endgame wise is lacking but we know more factions are being added. I'd say an 8 rn
