My favorite part of this entire movie is how quickly Mary Lou's dress lights up after being just tapped by the flame of the stink bomb fuse. She just erupts into an inferno in seconds. It makes no sense and it's amazing.

Depending on the fabric it's not super unrealistic just exaggerated. Quite a few synthetic fabrics are incredibly flammable and don't just burn but melt into the skin of the wearer.

The locker room scene is one of the best scenes in the movie. I love how Vicki's Nudity is not sexual, and because of this, when she is stalking Monica, it feels really intense and almost primal. It does really sell Mary Lou's Possession of Vicki, as Mary Lou is both oddly freer, and more confrontational with her sexuality, but also she is driven to kill by any means necessary, even if that means not putting on a towel before you off someone.

@@LuxuryPossum death of the author etc. etc. I think it's one of those instances where the intent behind a questionable piece of art from decades ago begins to divorce itself from the impact it has on modern audiences whose cultural context has shifted so significantly. Another example being "odd-ball comic relief" characters being seen as unintentionally coded as autistic for modern audiences. There's no single right answer as to whether the director's intent (which we don't know) of this scene matters. But we know how the scene impacted us, today, so that's definitely worthy of merit.

The actress playing the role of Kelly Hennenlotter, Terri Hawkes, was one of the more popular voice actresses who played Serena / Sailor Moon in the original 1990's first run DiC produced English dub of Sailor Moon!!! Also, the actress playing the role of Vicki Carpenter, Wendy Lyon, also was the voice actress who played Queen Serenity in a handful of episodes from that same English dub of Sailor Moon!!!

What I most love about this movie is that while Mary Lou was wronged in life, she's mostly just back and killing for malicious fun. And shes shown to have already been a shitty person while alive lol. Most female horror villains have to have really brutal depressing backstories and don't get to have fun with their kills like Freddy, Jason, Chucky, etc. Mary Lou is serving great camp the whole time.

Man, I wore out my video membership renting this movie when I was a kid. There was a special, 5 movies for 5 days for $5, and I always picked Hello Mary Lou Prom Night 2, the Evil Dead, any movie based on Lovecraft, Slumberparty Massacre, and the final would be a new horror I'd never seen before. I would just like to thank the Dead Meat team for bringing me back to this movie. I used to watch Svengoolie with my grandpa and I couldn’t remember what movie we would watch every weekend. Probably due to the movie scaring me everytime 😂. All I could remember was the locker scene, a trunk, and her horse. As you can imagine google is not that helpful when you search those key phrases. However, when I open KZbin I see this kill count. Imagine my surprise when I see the very locker I remember. So thank you James and your team for helping me find this movie again and bringing back some cherished memories with my grandpa. ❤
