San Jose native here. Let's talks about the Winchester mystery house because this representation of it has been debunked. Sarah Winchester basically had a ridiculous amount of money to spend every day after her husband died and she believed in Freemasonry which has the ideas of life being ever-changing/ ever evolving units/cells. So Sarah took this to heart when building her ever changing house with crews working on it 24/7. The doors and stairs that "lead to nowhere" are partially because of the 1906 earthquake (along with other beliefs explained later) that toppled the top 3 floors of the house changing it from a 7 story mansion to a 4 story mansion and after the earthquake Sarah basically said fuck it, let's just throw a roof on this 4th floor and build outward instead of upward. The house is supposed to be more like a puzzle because along with Freemasonry​ she also believed in Rosicrucian (there's also a Rosicrucian museum in San Jose) and Baconian concepts which used a labyrinth to test new members. So for her it was more of a symbol of her beliefs. Also there's no proof that she ever met with a medium or that she practiced seances and spoke with spirits. However which story do you think would attract more tourists aka gain more money? Plus apparently old tour guides of the estate were encouraged to make things up to increase the interest and popularity of the house. Ghosts y'all. Everyone loves a good ghost story. There's more to explain her use of numbers like 7 and 13 throughout the house that are tied to the work of Francis Bacon but this is just a shorter summary.

Theory: the hello neighbor universe is in an infinite loop. I think the man who kidnapped the neighbors family in a way created a loop. The neighbor kidnapped a kid and a woman so this could drive that women's husband into insanity causing them to kidnap another wife and child and that would constantly repeat.

This is already well known, but I'm gonna sum up my common theory. Hide and seek: Neighbor has a wife and 2 kids. The neighbor and wife get in a car crash. The wife dies. The neighbor gets depressed, stops taking care of his kids properly. The son starts being abusive to his sister. Eventually, the brother pushes the sister, whilst conveniently on a high up platform, and the sister falls and dies. The neighbors locks his son in the basement to protect him from police, and puts up missing posters so nobody gets suspicious. Act 1: Eventually, our player sneaks into the house to find out what's going on. The neighbor tries to keep us out to protect his son, but we get in. So now he has to keep us there, as to protect his secrets. Act 2: I believe we were only there for about a week or 2. Anyway, we escape with help from the brother. Act 3: In this act, we are an adult living in an apartment. We receive a letter, evicting us. We go back to our childhood home and go to sleep. We dream about the long gone neighbor and overcoming our fears. We destroy the shadow creature, which represents our childhood trauma. We wake up happy, and begin to unpack our things Edit: I don't think the story has anything to do with Satan or demons

What if everyone is just thinking too hard, and the neighbor just want's a wife and child but can't so he is sad about it. And the reason his house is so big and weird is because he wants to impress a girl? And maybe the reason he doesn't like you is because he thinks you are trying to take the competition. The reason he trapped the woman and child in the basement was because he is actually trying to make her love him. I thought this was just a more strange, oddball theory for the game.
