So at 05:35, intentionally running off the mat because you're in a submission is bad, but at 09:08 you can intentionally turn your opponent toward your other leg to get them disqualified and it's ok? WTF?
@Jono7932 жыл бұрын
Technically, yes. If you intentionally put your leg into a reaping position while your opponent is attacking you with a leg lock, then you should be penalised. In practice, it's hard for the ref to catch that unless it's really flagrant. And it's hard to say for definite that was intentional, or wether she was trying to make space, or hide her other leg, leading to the reap. 🤔 If you're going to pursue foot locks at ibjjf, you've just got to be aware of reaping situations and let go if they come up. Unless you're in brown or black belt nogi. In which case, throw that leg across and grab a fat heel hook! 😂

@quique77646 ай бұрын
@@MrZachgonz Yes, I'm very well aware of Orlando & met him at a meet & greet. I mean if you're into BJJ at a certain periof you knew who he was including Sean's team. He left a great impression on everyone that day & went ou t of his way to take photos with kids & families So I have no animosity for the man & when he passed. I was extremely hurt cus he was an Positve influence on me...so RIP King. But back to the topic, firstly i highly doubt they were strangers b4 this esp if you got a fight happening soon. BTW this is standard training & the closer the date of the fight they begin to taper down or practice the same moves if you've watched enough tape of your opponent. Usually you begin tapering your sparring sessions & going lighter a week or less depending on the fighter & coaches opinions.The fact he invited Orlando is a huge sign of respect cus seans' team respected his BJJ knowledge & more importantly trusted him not to hurt their fighter. His job was to essentially be an Uke who provides light resistance or mb even go slightly harder but what you don't expect as the bell to ring is to have a man nearly 55 kilos or more trying to to hyper extend his elbow, arm or anything else given I have to say this again it was suppose to be a light sparring session! I seen fighter prepping up for pro fight & rarely if even seen anything like this. And the fact that you say Orlando didn't pull his arm that hard is hella subjective. The man is at least 55 Kilos heavier & shorter which gives him more advantage to put pressure on it proves he was out to hurt him in a LIGHT SPARRING session or mb it was the gear was on that made him more agro that da hence O's face like he rly though he did nothing. And having practiced BJJ that quick jerk motion that you;re not expecting then add his size & strength it's more than enough to do damage esp in the elbow region. So either you never had it happen to you or you're a Orlando fan or a Sean hater, which is fine. Personally I looked at the facts & spoke to ppl I roll w. who are semi pro or pros & it was unanimous they all agreed esp knowing he had an upcoming fight & was a light day. So now rather than focus on the fight he had to go to DR to ensure no sever damage was done . If you live in South East i'd love to invite you roll or spare, of course your my guest & you will be treated w. respect & dignity. We even got a place you can crash above the gym. And it;s better than it sounds plus we'll both learn from each other since you still think it wasn't a big deal we got some big boys w/ Black belts, Brown & purple. And we will talk about it & if you a still agree we can roll & the move won't be premeditated. Ish we might do it on the next light sparring match. Again my intention was not to disrespect you or disrespect the dead. RIP Carlos he was a beast but we all make mistakes but that mistake will never tarnish his legacy & what he gave to the sport. If interested contact me privately & will do what we can to make it happen. Again all due respect & I hope you cont. to strive & attain all your goals. Peace.

@@MrZachgonz do you know who Sean strickland is? And what gives you they don't know each or rolled before. FFS I like Sean but buddy you're being a Stan for Orlando. Or mb you've nvr been involved in getting a fighter ready for a bout,which is my guess otherwise you would assume anyone could get in a chage w/ a fighter who is prepping. I'm 110% positive Orlando was invited hence the reason he got booted. And the fact u think his accolade gives him the right to do is makes me certain you don't anything when it comes to prefight training. Defend him all you want but im not going to needlessly shit on him cus Orlando should be allowed to RIP rather than rehashing incidents which any fighter training for a pre fight knows its. 3:34 I was at that tournament! That's Rodrigo Pinheiro and Kamal Shalorus I think, it was in Austin. High level BJJ blackbelt Luis Sergio Correa sitting in his corner, my BJJ instructor. We were the Power Team back then. That brawl was awesome and hilarious 😅. Bruno Azevedo was the ref and also blackbelt. My homie Chris trying to break it up lol. Good times.

I have little to no BJJ background, hoping someone can answer me this: If someone cling onto you like 7:52 , what are your options to get out legally? I know you can't drop/slam the guy, so I guess you have to very slowly lower yourself to the ground and try to break free? Also does every tournaments have slightly different rules? Most of the DQers seemed surprised, as if they have never heard of the rules before? Genuine surprise or just ignorant?

You shouldn't be standing up anyways. its usually a tactic to make the person let go, but if they know you cant slam they will just hold on. there are a number of ways to break someones guard without standing or slamming
@agirlfrommars3441 Жыл бұрын
You can wiggle until they stand up themselves or go back to your knees and try to escape. Edit but usually you will try to break their grips before standing up and pass their guard

Sooo... if I were to compete in BJJ, I would develop a technique where i jump Up and attach somewhere on standing opponents, then provoke Them to try and get loose of My grip. When they do that i use there momentum to let go and get thrown to the floor. According to these videos they would get DQ'ed 9/10 Times. But i can try this technique multiple Times per match. How succesfull would i be you think?

If you get a chance, check out Sanchez explaining the moment. He says Strickland came in, unannounced by his coach. He was just some dude who started talking crazy trash to all of his teammates in sparring. So he basically said he would beat up Sanchez. Sanchez says he never met the guy, didn't know he had a fight coming up- just some a-hole shows up telling Sanchez he'll get beat up - in his own gym. ... Hijinks ensue.

@josephmatias72432 жыл бұрын
Another thing that judo got right. ... As soon as you lift them up - the ref breaks it up. This is because the slam is natural and they want to encourage safety but maintain reality. You pull guard in standing - you get dropped on your head.

I want you to imagine this... A Big ass guy is in the guard of another dude in absolutes, slams are legal, the first one grabs the other and Bang slams the other guy as hard as he is able to, small guy gets a concussion and has to be rushed to hospital, small guy dies. I don't get why people advocate for slams being legal, I agree that holding onto triangles while being lifted should be penalized but making slams legal would make the sport alot more dangerous
@MysticBADG3RisAstupidname2 жыл бұрын
@@WillofStone08 pure conjecture, if a guy is able to lift you up while you have guard you shouldn't just sit there and take it. Grab an ankle and sweep, sprawl out with an overhook and backup, etc. You don't just get picked up and slammed and die like that
@MysticBADG3RisAstupidname2 жыл бұрын
@I like trains I have been and still I don't understand. If I were to really get down to it, it probably wouldn't be as simple as "slams are legal have at it," but for someone above white or blue belt to be reliant on a rule to not get slammed as opposed to their technique is ridiculous.

I say this should be the new rule for the slamming, your only aloud to slam if your opponent jumps any kind of submission or guard. But for example your in a triangle and you stand up, your not aloud to slam them but if they jump triangle you should be aloud to slam them.

@mikepreminger2 жыл бұрын
there's a lot of different technique-oriented ways to get out of a triangle, starting with not getting in one in the first place. ibjjf rules, for better or for worse, are in place to make training and competing more technical/less injury prone.
