How to grow the white Masdevallia coccinea alba: just keep it cool!

Finally all four of the flowers have opened on my Masdevallia coccinea alba 'Snowtree x Blanca' so here it is! Masdevallias seem to thrive in my climate here in Melbourne, I grow them outside all year undercover with very gentle early morning direct sunlight - and off they go! Easy to care for and a real SHOW stopper with this amazing display of large architectural flowers. Now....I may not have been paying the CLOSEST attention because in this Masedevallia re-potting video: • How to re-pot a Masdev... I seem to have bought BASICALLY the same orchid!!! Oh well - we can do a compare video when the new one blooms!!!!

Impressive , I grow Masdevallias here in San Francisco ,same climate mostly . Thanks for history on how the plants got their name. I've had my Coccinea Alba - Blanca ( probably the same plant but they gave it a different name here ? my plants can make those same twisty leaves at times and could never figure out why . i think about about 40 different varieties of Masdevallia's and one other Coccinea , Leywood. ,a bright pinkish red . Thanks and I look forward to seeing more of your vids

This is refreshing for me to watch as I am living in a temperate continental climate and cool growers are hard to maintain here in my opinion. I also like having my indoor environment quite warm and winters can become really cold outside. Lovely videos!

Magnificent plant they love living outside but here in the north of France it is not possible summers are hot and winters freezy sometimes the temperature can go -15 C°. A friend of mine living in Paris leaves them outside the whole year they are doing fine but not so beuatiful as yours. Thank you for sharing.

@@helloplantlovers Paris has a special climate due the pollution off course and to the underground that produces heat. At the office we used to leave the geraniums on the balconies and never they died. Near the my office we have a parc with meditterranean trees !!!
