Some people might argue and say that “oh but moba is inspired by each other all the time, having a hook for example doesn’t mean they copied blitz”, and while I agree to a certain extent, consider Vainglory. Most of their heroes (minus the ones released by the second developer like Karas) don’t just take an ability and mix and match them. Consider Galio ult in this instance with Gato in ML. Both are almost visually the same, with very similar function. Look at every other prominent moba on the market. None of them have an ability that similar to Galio ult. Minor differences is fine, cause with so many champs in LoL, eventually you’ll see similarity. However, if games like Vainglory can still innovate (for example the mechanic of Lyra’s basic attack, or Lance’s skill 1 having larger end delay if you miss) while LoL exists, then there is no reason ML has all these similar abilities. Edit: as many has pointed out, Gato ult is more similar to Maloch and Lubu ult from AoV and KoG respectively. Not exactly better since KoG came out a year before ML, and Gato wasn’t a hero that was released within ML early years. A better example would be Franco and Pudge from Dota/Dota 2.

@@ganimede3354 king of glory came out in 2015, a year before ML. AoV was released the same year. And since Gato is a much later release, I’m pretty sure his ult was quite inspired by Lubu. I will admit that my comparison between Galio and Gato isn’t the best, but the main point is that there shouldn’t have to be this many similarities. If it was the only skill in the game that is similar, then sure, no problem. But Gato isn’t the only example. A better example of examining a game creativity is how they implement a hooking hero. Franco is another one that is eerily similar to Pudge from Dota. Hooking champion in general is less criticized, since there isn’t much you could do with hooks. However, out of all moba, Franco is the laziest Hooking design and with the exact same ult as Pudge. Don’t forget Franco original skin/look is basically Pudge. Take Blitzcrank, who is directly inspired by Pudge. However, Blitz doesn’t have a single target suppression, nor does he have an AoE slow. His innovation is an AoE silence that also break shields, and a mobility boost to differentiate himself from Pudge slow and tanky style. Or perhaps you can look at Stitches from Heroes of the Storms. Same hook, same AoE slow, but instead of suppression, he comes with a devour ability - a unique twist on the suppression, and self regen to play into his identity as a tank. (The similar look is because a Blizzard Warcraft mod is what Dota began as). Yates from Vainglory trade out the suppression for a global ultimate, and the stink cloud for a delayed AoE stun. Ebisu from OA is one of the funnest take on the traditional hook, with his hook being a small targeted AoE, and his second role is as a healer. Even Grakk from AoV, who is quife similar to Pudge, changes the ultimate to be a channeling AoE stun as well. Franco doesn’t have any excuse to be this lazy. The worst part is that ML has the capacity to create unique heroes, if only they take more time with their concepts. Gato’s ult for example could be changed to a channeling AoE, or even just a jump visually instead of a fly-up-then-slam style. Franco could have a chain link ability that slows nearby target and prevent them from dashing as his ultimate for example. All in all, there is lots of reason why people still see ML as lazy, even though there are some quite decent new heroes.

The point is that ML (and AoV too if you want to include it) clearly shows that they are capable of designing more unique heroes, yet still ended up with so many similarity. Remember that Miya original kit in beta was extremely similar to Ashe, and was only changed after beta. It shows that they can do it, yet even till now the games are still filled with abilities that can be traced back to other mobas, even visually. Hanabi ult is basically Varus for example. It doesn’t take much effort to make a skill feels like a fresh take. For instance, in heroes of the storm, Mephisto has a Varus-esque ult, but it spreads out instantly in an AoE and doesn’t spread from secondary target. That’s how you make an ability your own. Don’t forget Lunox is Marja from AoV with an additional ability. Yone is an example of how inspiration work. While the skill seems familiar, Yone is the one actually traveling while he dashes out, while Hanzo control a smaller form. The only clear similarity is the link between them. One or two here and there is fine. Look at Skarner, who has a suppression similar to Batrider. Or Soraka’s ult simialr to Chen. However, in LoL, similarities like that is rare, as opposed to ML and AoV. Even KoG version of Diao Chan is now different from Crystal Maiden. The point is that the goal here isn’t to be completely different from everything, since that’s unrealistic in the long run, but to reduce the amount of similarities to the minimum. ML is capable of this, as seen in some of their design (Diggie for example is quite good), but there are still quite a handful of resemblances. Floryn’s new ultimate is an example of what ML can do to innovate. It is a global heal, but unlike Soraka, it is overtime, and also deal damage. THAT is how you make inspired skill. Unfortunately, the “copycat” reputation is stuck with ML, so unless the rest of the similarities are resolved, most people will still see ML in such light.

Fun fact: Aside from champs and skins, Just after WR released ML has a lot of new features added to their game. The Gyro hero background, the smart attack and skill targeting, the holdable ss like ezreal, the Cuztomized button layout, the recall animations, the idle animations of ingame and on lobby, the taunts, even the cinematic of Legend of Runeterra has been copied in their paquito hero trailer and the Pool party trailer is very very similar even the shot angles is very copied. And few months after WR released, ML has been giving away epic skins to their players, giving money to streamers to not play WR and to spread negative comments about the game. Just the other month, ML has been banning eaport teams who Play WR. Theres so much more Disgusting copies ML has done. Look at their new hero now which is about to be release, a very similar copy to soraka. Trash copycat game if I say so myself 🗑️🗑️

dont know who still reads these comments, but to be completely honest, there are some abilities that are so generic that they can be used anywhere. things like garen's ult executing low health, stealth as a mechanic, abilities that encourage you to hit opponents with a certain part of it like darius q and camille w. these are generic and essential to any moba, so i dont really consider these as copying. But jeeeezuz the draven one and the jhin one were actually insane. btw they did copy riven's entire kit, they combined riven's s2 and s3. if you look closely, you can see the AoE and a short stun.

just thought I'd mention all heroes in ml that copied lol champs, as far as I know since I've played both - xayah's bladecaller is copied by gusion except they dont root enemies unlike xayah - kagura isnt really a copy of orianna, kagu's abilities are very different fom ori but her metal ball mechanic is, kagura's ult also got reworked recently to be an exact copy of ori's ult, sad I was a kagura main - fiora's vital mechanic is also copied by wanwan, except wanwan's a marksman so its easier to hit the weak spots which is kinda, unbalanced imo - ahri's 3 fox fires is copied by cyclops' 5 planets, they both give decaying speed boost and less subsequent damage - beatrice, the one with miss fortune's ult is a cheaper version of aphelios, a lotta weapons and different attack and abilities, but beatrice can switch her weapons without restrictions while aphelios waits till it runs out of ammo - I wouldn't really say lesley copied caitlyn, the ult is the same long range snipe and can be blocked, while caitlyn does it once, lesley does it a couple times (think it was 5 I forgot) - shyvana also has her clone, well maybe just similar but the idea copied, yuzhong's ult turns him into a dragon that can pass terrain for some seconds and then land to become a more dragon version of him, and the abilities are larger - I heard the new hero in ml has a global heal ult soooo you know what champion has that same ult, poor soraka - shen's ult tps him to an ally and gives em a shield, angela also tps to the ally but gets inside their body instead, also gives a shield - tahm kench eats up them delicious meat, and in ml barats does the same, and then shoots them out in a direction, like tahm kench and also kalista's ult - tryndamere cant die with his ult on, argus also cant die but hes way more op bcs the damage dealt to him at that state will be converted into his health, he can literally get back to full health mid battle thats not ok - in the vid rakan's second ability got copied by yuzhong but theres also guinevere with the same ability but she jumps high instead and has longer range - karrie's passive is the same as kaisa's and also triggers at 5 marks, karina's passive is the same but its the third attack, much like vayne - riven's first skill is still in ml and its chou's first ability, he dashes a little distance and at the third once knocks up enemies, and his second ability is also a dash that gives a shield and immunity while dashing, riven's dont give immune tho - varus' ult is copied in ml and its hanabi's ult, works the same except it gets anyone around the target area, and also doesnt get canceled if it doesnt hit anything, kinda op cc for a marksman - miya's old ability was a copy of miss fortune's rain of fire thingy or whatevers the name, got reworked to be an immobilize skill that is easy to hit, again kinda op cc for a marksman - wanwan also copied her hit and move passive from kalista, I didnt knew kalista had that passive too so thanks repliers - the new hero aamon is basically talon, but cheap af, and idk if its copied but his 2nd skill seems like akshan's or teemo - as someone mentioned, harley's second skill is literally leblanc's blink skill, exactly the same - ml has a neeko and sylas combined called valentina apparently, she copies looks and ult (and I think the other abilities too judging from the leak but not sure) also that name is super uncreative, its just valentine with an A instead of E if there's anything I missed feel free to tell me in the comments, I'll make sure to reply to them :)

I used to be global top ranker in MLBB NA server. I knew that MLBB copied a lot of champions from LoL, but had to play because I did not had PC at that time. Of course, I quit as soon as Wild Rift came out. Points that I think is missed in this video: 4:09 This hero is called Hylos, and this hero is exact copy of Hecarim, not Dr.Mundo. Just like Hecarim, Hylos deals area damage around him. Hylos also has movement speed bonus ability that allows him to move faster (Hylos's ultimate), which is exact copy of Hecarim movement speed bonus skill. 13:31 This hero is called Khufra, and this hereo is exact copy of Zac, not Vi. Khufra's first ability charges then jumps to enemies just like Zac. Khufra's second ability turns him into a ball that cancels any dash abilities of the enemy hero just like Zac's ultimate. 9:16 That hero is called Granger, and this hero's ultimate has not been fully shown in the video. Unlike Jhin, who cant move while using his ultimate, Granger can dash each times he shoots a bullet when using a ultimate. But obviously, Moonton did copied Jhin, just motified him little bit. MLBB do release some unique heroes, but every single one of them is extremely broken. Such as Harith, you can dash million times and deal tons of damage while using his ultimate. He also gets shield based on how many enemy heroes are near him when dashing, practically making him unkillable. He had been nerfed 13 times over course of 2 years. Ling is another example, and he can move around on top of walls. This gives him such broken mobility that he can reach top to bottom lane within 7 seconds. This hero also had been nerfed 5+ times, I do not remember exactly how many though. Smh, Moonton is cringe. MLBB hero balance has been corrupted since long time ago. I do not know how this game still has players left because Wild Rift is honestly so much better.

Most of these are just common game concepts so much innovation you can use with such large rosters in the same game genres so the best thing is to mix it up a bit and make the characters look far different, but it's a bit much on specific one's like Draven's passive or Jhin is disgusting.

I won't even fault any modern games for using the genre staples that were developed by previous developers like, juggling, chaining, breaks etc. League is not the only and first moba, so I won't fault any other moba that has autos, minions, fireball skills, etc. But when expanding beyond that territory and refusing to innovate by outright copying the success of another group by skewing it's character designs and recycling their unique gameplay thematic is disgusting. I don't play that game, but from what I saw that's a gross copy of Draven and Jhin's gameplay, SO once I saw that I admitted how truly disgusting I thought it was. So tell me where I defended it.

Its kinda weird how people keeps saying that the devs actually copied them: 1st fact: they dont have control of which hero they release (players choose one in a poll) 2nd fact: when the heck did LoL get to copyright directional lasers 3rd fact: is there a hero in mlbb that is EXACTLY the same as a champion in LoL 4th fact: the devs made adjustments to the player suggested heroes so it wont be copyright striked 5th fact: theres a guy in the comments that said aulus'(an upcoming hero) Ult is like braum's Which i highly disagree, first of all braum is a northerner, which suggest his power to materialize ice, but aulus is a scottish leonin who crafted an axe Similarities between aulus and braum: They smack down their ultimate...
