Luke didn't know what he was getting into. Assuming that vampire powers were strength, speed, durability despite injury, and he was physically capable so he assumed that Alucard would be hard pressed to defeat him. Luke didn't know of the demons a vampire can call forth. (Luke only has a freak chip, he's not a true vampire so he wouldn't even have that ability one assumes) In summary, yes, you did know all of this and I just typed this all out at 6 in the morning just to pass the time.

The low budget and action choreography is noticeable. Like, if there were no combat then it'd be fine, never mind the oversaturation of certain colors and shades, not only add dissonance with the subject matter but makes it hard to tell the living apart from the undead for example. A lot of anime from the 80s and 90s looked better than this: Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z/GT, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Saint Seiya, etc.

If executed correctly, a bad adaptation can be a good piece of media. The shining is nothing like the book. Does that mean it's a bad movie? No. It's regarded as a classic film despite being a bad adaptation. And a good adaptation can be terrible if we flip the levers. both are equally possible. I'm not as well versed in adaptations to have an example although if anyone knows of one that'd be great. Although if there isn't one that someone can think of, that may be a point of discussion in itself. Why can we not think of a good adaptation that is also a high quality product?

@@raptorlewis273 Just saying this was uploaded in 2009, your issues with the saturation and colours are because it was ripped from basic video editing programs and uploaded in 480p. In terms of art quality, I have no earthly idea what you mean, this series never goes as grossly off-model and poorly shaded as dragon ball and sailor moon tended to, and in terms of action Hellsing works within its limitations, there's limited animation relying on stylizing the sequences. It's not perfect by any means but saying most anime in the 90's looked better than this is just not true.

Though Hellsing Ultimate is overall a better anime and follows the manga I still really enjoy this version. The intro alone is epic, the rest of the music is amazing as well and some fights and dialog is done better. He doesn't get a poorly written betrayal plot like in Ultimate. he literally attacks the werewolf bloke despite being demonstrated later to have been on Milleniums side long enough to sabotage the Jackal gun, and Integra had driven away from him. She couldn't see him and werewolf guy anymore. So why did he attack rather than just speak? Because the audience can't know that he's betraying Hellsing yet. So he has to be antagonistic to the "enemy"

I'm gonna say this about Hellsing: The ghouls should, theoretically, turn to ash when killed or shot. If a ghoul is a person drained of blood and became a zombie for their vampire host, it wouldn't make sense for a bloodless body to bleed everywhere when shot once. It makes more sense to turn into dust or ash.

Point for original. Plus the ash also helps for classification purposes, they can show more of the scene. When walter slices the ghouls up and seras shoots them with her rifle, compare the two scenes of that from Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate. Hellsing shows more of everything happening. Hellsing Ultimate looks well animated but has fades to black, jumpcuts, snippets of the scene cut out and replaced with drawn out animation sequences. Ultimate is more of an art exhibition than a story.

@@Petaurista13 Literally the obly one who was a serious problem to Alucard was Incognito (who had the power of a literal God)... only to get killed by level 1 (not even level 0, just level 1) And for the Allucinations you're definetly right, When Wilson ambushed Seras and tried to... well, I won't say that, we can see that his human body was severely mutated, but he didn't realized He even tells Seras that she's just like him (which is a total lie), It is posible that the hundreds of Chips that ingressed into his body gave him a Vision of Seras being basically a false vampire or a toy for him Incognito turned the whole S.A.S Unit using their best dreams (Wilson Wanted to be Strong, and as we see in his Assault attempt against Seras he also wanted to be... Attractive?) To be fair, Luke Actually believed he was more powerful just because Incognito was basically a Scammer

@@sfmolten9251 Yes. As I've said Luke didn't have idea about how true Vampires are, Incogito was just creating army of puppets by scamming people. At best Luke was maybe comparable to Priest who was freshly turned true Vampire of unknown bloodline, but it's like me being smartest kid as school which had like 30 students. Then i jr highschool I ended up in school where most of people were "smartest kid at school" and it was shown I'm mid at best, with no real chance for top.

Are you saying it looks bad? Because this is some real quality art here. They don't draw anime like this anymore, hell they hardly draw it anymore. It's all done on computers and it's painfully obvious at that. In ultimate they blend hand drawn animation with CGI animation and it just looks sloppy. This is more consistent and the characters are drawn much better.

@@ElectronicsForFun they still draw on computer xD. the computer only makes it a tiny bit easy instead of having to draw on paper. but you have to draw on each frame dealing with a computer. so its actually not super easy how most think.

"but you have to draw on each frame dealing with a computer." no you don't. most animation programs let you transform your character models so you don't have to draw each frame and sometimes it can make the animation looks lifeless or robotic.

@@ElectronicsForFun no. original naruto art, DragonBall art, sailor moon, almost any classic anime has animation that at the least doesn't look like a fan made knockoff. You wanna know how I know it looks like its fan made? I had to actually ask myself "should I just go on hulu because I think I found a fan made clip"

Looks like a lot was changed from this Hellsing compared to the Hellsing Ultimate. It's interesting how different things can turn out once a manga finishes and is later made into an anime. It reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist.

​@@cheerful_crop_circleThat's actually the main reason why this version is more horror based For example: When Seras Meets Alucard he looks misterious thanks to the shading, when he talks with Integra, Seras or Walter he's less Ucanny and more charismatic sometimes Then, when he fights he looks like the monster he is, the Main attractive of this version is that Looks can be deceiving

Don't know if this has already been posted here, but the song that plays when alucard starts to finish off luke is "bodhisvatta of cathedral" at pretty much 2:30 on the dot. Hope this helps
