Just gave it the ol'relisten on the headphones again on account of my crappy Walmart desk speakers and MAN, having no baseline or bias with no clue who these obvious geniuses are, they're all 3 so different and stuff I think I like about each that I want it to continue longer to even say which is "best"?!

For being 1993, these guys were ahead of their time (I know this is cliche). But it's like they are progressive death metal with minimalism characteristics. They'll take a 5 note riff, and keep twisting it around in a different way each time. glad it intrigued you

Found these guys way before I really got super into metal, was still barely scratching the surface of the genre, they were by far the most bizarre and obscure band i ever came across, never got into them at first but later on in life they would become one of the bands I think highly of , they stand out from any band hands down, nothing sounds ripped from other bands, 100% original music
@metal_helm3 жыл бұрын
yes they are very rare indeed. I didn't discover them until much later on and instantly realized how groundbreaking they were. Do you have a favorite out of the 3 versions here?
@strungupandgutted3 жыл бұрын
@@metal_helm hell yeah man, they are a gem amongst other bands. And honestly I heard the original release first before the others and was always blown away by it but the 2014 remaster added a bit more depth to the sounds and really made certain riffs stand out more. In my opinion they managed to get a decent balance in the mix and it still sounds heavy and raw but with more clerity. so imma have to say the 2014 remaster is a great re-release but I still have a soft spot for the original since that was my first nespith experience \m/,

Man does that 2009 version sssssuck! Its funny that some people are saying that vocals sound like farts. Oddly enough I think vocals are one of Finnish death metal's biggest strengths. It's supposed to sound slimy. I really wish some day At The Gate's The Red in the Sky is Ours would get the same treatment this release did. I really love that one too.
@metal_helm3 жыл бұрын
to each his own. It's not my type of DM vocals, but I don't hear farts. I like a more Glenn Benton type of voice, but that's just me. which version do you have? the original or 2014?

@@metal_helm I've heard both but I own the original since there was a short time where the og recording was free lossless for a while and I still have those files around. I use tidal and listen to 20th adversary.

This band reminds me of sitting with my long time friend/ guitar player and he would play me these bands I never heard of 🤯 His influence of choice of bands,excluding the mainstream metal, made me come up with some crazy lead runs that were out of this world. Anyways where am I going with this 🤔

No doubt - the rich bass of the 2014 version takes it! Also the highs seem more ...full range...realistic - not sure but it's clearly better to my ears as well. Plus - farts have greatly improved in 2014, and now - they're better than ever - so good you can feel the heat from them!!

2009 messed up with the highs too much, 2014 is compressed over the level of my acceptance, although I have to admit it has thicc and juicy bass on some songs, which messes up other songs. The original wins here for me, it has so much dynamic range headroom, it's awesome to listen to

@@metal_helm the 2014 version uses a fresh 24-bit remaster from the studio tapes whereas the 1993 and 2009 versions both use the 16-bit CD master which was often left peaks with lots of compression and brickwalling. Also, I got to see them live last year and they ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RULE.
