Help me identify these Sonic CD JP sounds

In this video I show some of the most important sounds i'm looking for. From all of those, that Roland TR-909 Snare drum sample is what i'm mostly looking for.

Update 07/03/2023: the R2 bird was found! It was found by a user named MaximumVinyl2004, it's from Sound Ideas 1000 1006 18! Update 31/03/2023: The QQZ present bass was found, it's from Waldorf Microwave 024 - Moog Bass 02. Thanks for VlinkSens for asking Naofumi Hataya the name of the synthesizer used for this bass!

It's likely an in-house vocal by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, who worked with Hataya frequently and was a vocalist for many SEGA games from the 90s to mid 2000s.

The Final Boss Vocals seem similar to the vocals used in LittleBigPlanet's "The Wedding" Interactive music. I could easily be wrong though.

All I know about the bird sample is that you can hear the same bird briefly in Miracle Blue - Little Planet from Sonic the Hedgehog Remix Which leads me to believe that they used the same audio library (live animal sounds or jungle sounds) I'm guessing the bird in R2 was only part of the audio library cut up and spliced together to make up the sounds we hear in the song because the samples do repeat after a bit and there's an echo too that gives them a little depth If you haven't found it yet, I'd listen to miracle blue little planet and try to identify the many animal sounds heard towards the end of the song and go from there.

Someone seriously needs to identify the type of hit used in Stardust Speedway Bad Future. No orchestra hit I have found even comes close to sounding like it.

I have a feeling part of it might be because it's mixed with the "I've got the power" sample, but I could be wrong.

from what i can tell, its a cut from the "ive got the power" sample layered with some kinda orch. ive recreated it vaguely accurate and i think its right

I'm very curious where the kids "yeah" comes from too, i know there are a couple songs that use a similar sample, but it's never exactly the same and most of them are post- Sonic CD. So frustrating.

I'm guessing the 909 snare is a custom preset due to how often the 909 is used in this soundtrack altogether

They didn't use a real TR-909, just samples

@@CollisionChaos I don’t know if you already know this or not, you could get an expansion card for the Roland R8 that adds 909 drum sounds to it. Maybe that’s where the CD snares originated from, I could be wrong about this but I hope this helps.

I have a sample collection consisting of all three Zero-G datafiles CDs, both X-Static Goldmine CDs, a different X-Static Goldmine collection, and the entire M1 library. From what I know, most instruments for the past themes come from the M1, I haven't prodded through the X-Static Goldmine as much as the other two, but most instruments for bad future themes come from there, and Zero-G Datafiles is the jack of all trades, all three times use a bunch of Datafiles samples. WWB's bad future drumset comes from datafiles.

@@CollisionChaosthe folders for my sample libraries are really organized, so samples are organized by type. My first folder for X-Static Goldmine contains samples for 909 kits. iirc Korg M1 has some 909 snares too. I might look into my Akai MPC 3000 samples to see if I can find anything there, but I plan to create a drive folder to document my findings and to generally share the uncompressed samples for preservation and for people to use.

About that bass: The Waldorf Waveslate is an expansion for the Waldorf Microwave 1 to expand the 8 voices to 16. So I don't think it is such a complex bass which needs 16 voices. I'd imagine it is a sample of the Microwave 1 (if the rumour is true). There is a VST Plugin available for that, have you tried looking into that one yet?

The opera vocal samples probably must be also from the same singer from your Midori tutorial. If in the case that they are from a sample CD then it probably correct to to guess they are from the same singer but different songs. Can't help that much so I really wish you luck in your search quest.

@@CollisionChaos A late reply but the other day was doing some HDD cleaning and found the Masterbits' Monster Packs volume 1 and 2 sitting there and I remembered that they have many opera vocal bits in them. I was wondering if you have checked them yet.

That would be cool. Seems to be a layered sound, one of the layers seems to be from datafile, a vocal saying "don't stop don't stop!" but the other layer is unknow, although i would not be surprised if was made for sonic cd

All of these sonic cd musics is very good, it's the final boss like the opera soundtrack, the last part of the stardust speedway present like in the 80s music bar, and I like the palmtree panic present, it's a good cover,with the vocal and bass drums I hope you can find more Sonic cd unused loops

Is the R2 bird sound not the same one used in 808 State - Pacific State, from the E-mu Emulator II? Might be a different sample, I'm not sure.

Is not, we checked lots of demos and there isn't any similar bass on MicroWAVE, but there is another synth from Waldorf Called Waveslave and It is possible that the bass is there, but nothing for sure because there are no demos on the Internet

I suggest you have good luck with the research. I am not too into sample search but I keep an eye on it just to make good remixes of Sonic CD's soundtrack (I love this soundtrack lol). I was also trying to find the source of that guitar harmonics sound (is that how you call it? I am unsure if it's that or a synth) from Collision Chaos Good Future. You can notice it here: ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJKsknaDa894jNU ) at 0:29 . I have no idea where it could be from. Also, it'd be cool to find some instrument sources from the US soundtrack, but that's not possible (I think?). I have stored 2 "samples" though; the drum loop from Tidal Tempest Present and the snare from Quartz Quadrant Good/Bad Future. But the US soundtrack is another topic.

Thanks for your comment! I don't know where is this instrument from CCZ good future :( About the US soundtrack, aparently a lot of the equipament used in JP is the same that was used in US. Korg 01/w, Korg Wavestation, Roland JD-800, they all were used in both US and JP soundtracks. We even have some evidence that suggests both JP and US used a floppy disk called Ensoniq ESS11, in quartz quadranty present!
