the thing with the two desert zones, i have an theory, maybe one was a desert like, sandopolis, with the piramids and all, and the other would be more like mirage saloon, with bars barrels, anyways, with the wild west theme, but heey, thats just a theory, a game theory!

I like to imagine Eggman is the one soloing in this one. Where there would be rapping in the present, Eggman takes a keyboard solo. They're saying the same thing, "I'm gonna own you", but the past mix is, for lack of a better term, cooler. While Sonic runs around Eggman's hyper-technological base of operations in a panic searching for the generator, Eggman is so confident that he'll win that he sits with his band of robots and plays a ditty on his keyboard. This is him taunting Sonic. The musical equivalent of "Nanna-nanna boo-boo, you can't catch me".

The chorus with the piano and organ to me symbolises the "stardust" in stardust speedway. It makes me imagine looking up at the sky and admiring the beauty of the city around me; taking in the last peace and quiet I get before entering MMZ. There's something about it that speaks to me, saying, "The most beautiful things can't be admired forever. That's what makes them beautiful."

I strongly feel like this needs a v2. Some of the instrument choices sound wrong and there's a weird mismatch around the 52 second mark. I only say this because I love your work and you've learned and improved since making this.

These loops were intended to loop the songs, but were removed from the final game simply because it was too difficult to get the timing down.

I agree! The closest we ever got to hearing music in the style of Sonic CD was Night Into Dreams, that had some people from Sonic CD. It's soundtrack has some of the most iconic sonic cd sounds (harlequin, fantasia, guitar, D70 piano, calliope etc).

so after doing some research a while back i decided to figure out what music inspired and i used a good amount of resources such as google or reddit but one music genera caught my attention and that music is called "house music" which is some what of a music DJ type beat style that would be played at party's that a dj would operate the system , and most of the samples of drums, snares, etc came from those types of songs but i recommend looking at tracks from the early/late 80's or 90's and you can dig deeper into the songs where you find certain music samples that are on sonic cd and see where its orgin came from: "i hope this information will help you"
