I’m on the opposite end of the parent going out topic in a way. I’ve come to accept that I’m not apart of my friends late night group anymore. Sometimes I have to convince my friends that I cannot go out because I have responsibilities. I have a family to be with and take care of, and they get mad at ME for not participating in their bar hopping or whatever. I’m never mad at them for going out without me. I totally get it. I’m actually glad they’re still having fun. I love my friends to the end, but we are just on different wavelengths when it comes to socializing right now.

I recently turned 25 :) and damn that marriage part and my girls trying to bring their boyfriends (and vice versa) is a bit too damn relatable. During my uni years from 2016-2021, the term "spontaneous trips" were in our friendship vocabulary. You want to go to Little Tokyo at 2AM and walk around after the jazz club? (don't do this unless you already have an hotel reservation ready) SURE. You want to cross the border and get some tacos? FINE BY ME. You want to do a girl's night out to Santa Barbara? You want to get away from the family and stay in a fancy hotel in the city? GREAT. We were able to do this because we didn't have any time constraints, we had great levels of freedom, and none of us had a significant other. Cut to maybe when I turned 22-23. Almost all of my girls have a boyfriend that they've been seeing for years. They're all long term relationships now. Some of them are in different parts of the city or they live different cities. It's hard to see each other physically but for the ones that live nearby we see each other twice a month so it isn't that bad. What becomes bad is when we all especially me state the obvious that this is a "girl's night out" or "homies night out" this literally means FRIENDS NIGHT OUT. Case in point. Around April or May we wanted to celebrate a friend's birthday. We decided karaoke and going to clubs would be the best fit. We've been planning this for about a month until two days before the party, birthday girl asked us if her boyfriend and her friends can come through. Luckily she's not that dumb (it was her boyfriend's idea) and I got pissed. I wanted to punt him to a different zip code. Some of the girls that we've seen we haven't even seen in 3+ years. I asked her boyfriend if he was a goddamn f'ing idiot. I told him this "listen. You can celebrate with your girlfriend on your own accord. Why the fuck would you even think about interjecting with me and my friends with you and yours when most of us don't even know you like that. This is a girl's night out. None of you are invited. Don't invite your significant other when it's for the homies only. Then it just becomes weird and all of us have to cater to you. Another case in point. I have a friend that lives in a different city and she got married about an year ago. I haven't seen her at that point since 2020. She wanted to visit me in LA and I said ok. I'm down for a great bonding time with my best friend. Then she comes out of the blue and asks if her husband can join our trip to LACMA. Absolutely the fuck not. We already made a decision that it was gonna be us two. Just because your husband is from the East Coast and hasn't seen a lot of LA doesn't mean that you should be dragging him out to come with us. Now I have to accommodate a person that I've never met and her. Mind you now things have changed significantly better because I got to know her husband and we're all cool. But back in 2021/2022? GIRL. I don't know HIM. WHY ARE YOU BRINGING HIM OUT. It would have been MUCH BETTER if you guys went as a couple date. I wish that anyone who is reading this long comment has the eyesight to understand the mood and feelings. If we're all doing a girl's night out trip why would you bring your boyfriend and his friends with you. If we're doing drinks why the hell would you bring your kids with you? Sometimes when people become a couple they tend to forget that they are their own individual. When we specifically say "this is a night or weekend for US" don't bring in extra luggage. I don't have the space nor the capacity. We have a limited amount of space dedicated to things as time goes by. (sorry for the rant. It just made me go off. but srsly don't bring your kids when we're out DRINKING)

This was such a good episode! So relatable!! Everything they said about having kids/life changing/relationships changing is so true. Can’t party like we use to! 😂 And what Ed said about having parents that want to babysit is a luxury! Once my parents had retired, they kept saying to hurry up and have kids so that they can help babysit. I’m lucky my parents even want to babysit!

I bought Hefe comfort insoles for my Jordan 1's and Nike Dunks. They're the same material as BOOST insoles on Adidas and it's a LIFE CHANGER for sure! Ever since I bought Hefe's, my feet don't hurt anymore nor do I get blisters. I wear my Jordan 1's every time I go to Disney and not once were they ever a problem. Trust me, it'll change everything 😂

My friends and I made plans to meet up or I go to their house. It's short and simple. I'm single and have my own space but my friends don't live close to me. When I'm in town or when my friends come visit me, we meet up. You have to make time and adjust accordingly to your friends that are married and have kids. My friends does the same for me. It's not complicated and life happens. And it's okay if plan changes. Don't get upset and be hard on yourself. Communicate with your friends. True friends understand. Good topic.

I'm still listening to the podcast, but I just wanted to also relate to the conversation you guys had about sneakers. I've been getting into sneakers since just last year. The other day, I just wore my first pair of Jordan 4's for a quick grocery run at Target. Had my feet in shambles and my toes looking like they throwing gang signs. Thankfully, other more comfortable shoes and brands (most notably New Balance) have been having a resurgence as of late. Maybe they've been on the rise since I'm newer to the hobby, but I'm ALL for it LOL

I just remember a line from Oscar from The Office when he tells Michael that its hard to judge ourselves accurately. Sometimes you need homies to tell you how it is. I have no kids but in a relationship and I can speak from seeing some homies go through it that life changes man. You cannot be the same person or even have the same relationship with your friends that you had before. Even family dynamics change too and that is all okay. I think in general people need to have a realization and not be offended that they cannot have the same lifestyle that you used to have. I think David and Ed were spot on. I still love my friends but some of those relationships got distant due to them having kids and me not being in the area anymore. I used to be salty about it but then I realized hey, people's lives and priorities change when they have a family. You cannot be so loose with your time and responsibilities. Its an adjustment but you know what? When you really have love for your friends and family you make that adjustment and so do they. Its all love but this is life. We get older and the stages of life shift.

Damn bro you hittin all the Ktown nostalgia right now. I freaking miss the sketchy underground Korean pubs before Covid. My 누나 사촌 always got us into the best spots. Korean cafe to start the evening, KBBQ/Kpub with some pregame, karaoke and some more drinking, another pub or karaoke one place to the next and even some more drinking. Regretting every hangover just to do it all over again hahaha

Saw the part where you guys were talking about being old heads lol and i just wanted to maybe add to the convo that i think "old heads" typically hate on something just for the sake of it being new without giving it a chance. And for you and ed wether its music, fashion, etc, it seems like you guys definitely do your do diligence before deciding if you like something or not which i don't think is old head behavior at all. Im 24, and personally i don't like or use tiktok. But my friend's will say "oh this guys getting old he's out of touch." Like bro why can't i just not like something lol

I'm the same with food: either I really watch what I eat or I become a human vacuum cleaner for food. At my heaviest, I was probably pushing 230 lbs at 5'2". Yeah, I was looking like a walking yoga ball. I knew it was bad when my mom greeted me in the morning with a repulsed face lmao. It took some time but I changed the way I looked at food. I went on a serious diet since last March, and now I'm around 138-140 lbs. My goal is 135 lbs so I'm at the last stretch! Apparently my mom thinks I look like a sickly person now so now I know there's just no pleasing this woman lmao.

About Taylor Swift, I think the argument can be made that she is a significant figure in the history of music. Speaking of a genius brain, the idea to re record your music in order to take back ownership of your records was so smart and will prevent a lot of artists from getting screwed over by big music labels in the generations after hers.

Contemporary music is also extremely derivative. Everything's the same chords and progressions, and they all sample nostalgic sounds like video game sfx. Everything is so unoriginal, it's a wonder how copyright still exists. Somewhat related sidenote: I was listening to this one kpop song, and it encorporated this thing they took from EDM where they take a vocal, chop it up, and put it together in place of any humming or other filler, and I HATED it. That sort of thing fits better within the context of electriconic music, which this song was not. The song also took all the "H" sounds from the vocals, so all I could think of was the singer going "heeee hooooo" over and over. Like, adding some other consonant sounds would've been nice. This is a big reason why I prefer covers of songs because they're not so over-produced.

The knowledge part of this generation , I agree with it’s easier to obtain the knowledge because it’s at the top of our fingers . But one thing that I’ve been struggling with is , what is true and what actually works . It’s really annoying . Try something and it doesn’t work and you either wasted time or you’ve wasted money .

Priorities are always changing specially if you want to have kids. All relationships take work and when it comes to kids, in a friend group where some want to be child-free, it takes even more patience and time to maintain the relationship. One friend had her 1st at 23yo and till her second hit 4years at 29years it broke our four friend group and was mostly text communication. HOWEVER....I now have my 1st at 30years so we back to mostly text 😂 TMI- breastfeeding makes smell like cheese. You can't be sexy and be smelling like ft. Hopefully given that our other 2 friends do not want kids we will party once more in 7 years obviously things can change.

I´ve never enjoyed a single taylor swift that i have heard on the radio, and i'm 30 so my take. From the outside looking in it seems ppl just like her personality more, than her music, because they can relate to that. She sells well and very popular in America but her fans are mostly white girls whereas Beyonce sells well is popular globally and her fans are FAR more varied. Comparing her to Michael Jackson is beyond ridiculous.
