His vocals are better than Mayer's imo. Mayer doesn't sing poorly, he just has a very breathy voice. Mayer seems to have much better chemistry with the band though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bob was on fire. His playing is loud in the mic and you really hear all those weird things he does.. adds so much to the music. The dead is unique in that respect. Every added their own very unique way of playing to the band and it meshed so damn well.

I like the wayTrey always look over to Bobby for the cue, the lead in, to the next number. This is the way bands work. Trey might not be Jerry but he is still a good guitarist, a band member, and humbly so.

I was at both the referenced shows and I agree 100%.(St.Stephen>11 was AWESOME!) I was skeptical of Trey coming into the weekend but after Scarlet/fire on 3rd I was sold on Trey. These performances were more "rough" than the very polished D+C sound but I thought they felt more "authentic" not just from a musical standpoint , but also from the spirit of the performance. Don't get me wrong, I will see D+C every time I can and truly appreciate JM taking the reigns but 7/3-7/5/15 nights were pure magic....

NICE CLOSEUP.. ON TREY... TREY is so awesome as a frontman for the G-dead.... Phish phans should be elated... I could tell, Trey was digging the rhythm devils for his backup. Mickey and Bill are still the most amazing drummers when it comes to the improv JAM thing.... Fishman, is great, but, the Mickey and Bill are legendary....

I couldn't disagree with you more. I've seen them both live many times and I've never been impressed. Fishman on the other hand - he is good enough to have played for Frank Zappa. I guess a steady diet of jazz drummers, fusion drummers, FZ's guys etc showed me what great drumming was at a young age so the Dead's drummers never did anything for me.

We all have opinions. Some come to laugh, some come to make it one more day... I come for the Jam, Very few guitarist can lead a band as deep into a jam as Trey. Obviously he sounds nothing like Jerry and thank God for that bc honesty will get you much further down the rabbit hole. If you want that free form acid test spirit to come alive, its Trey over Mayer, every time without question. It would have been nice if Bobby was in better form.. Not a Mayer hater, he is a wonderful guitarist. Seen Dead and Co multiple times, in multiple cities. It's always fun to see a cover band with original members. Remember, there is thousands of recordings of Jerry as well as bands like DSO in case you want to hear somebody who "has it down" Most importantly, where you there or not? There's a reason these were the last Grateful Dead shows...
