Help Wanted: Florida Highway Patrol hiring Troopers

As a state agency, they should offer pay on par with other state agencies. From what I understand there are NO salary increases like there are with local agencies. Salary you start at, is what you'll end with.

@@Crayon3aterGaming they make ( straight out of the academy) $41,917 before taxes. Take out 15% tax, and no other deductions( no medical, no retirement, no SSI) they make $18.50/hr. And that is if they work 160 hours per month which breaks down to 80 hr pay period (every two weeks). The pay scale only increases every two years. In the end it isn’t about the money. It’s about doing the job. Sadly we don’t pay well to public service. Military. Nursing. Or teachers.

Missed my calling. Ret CDL driver. Million plus logged. No accidents.. More than a trooper logs in a career and still going. I'll get 2 soon. Lack of troopers in wakula co fl is causing our drivers to become the worst I've ever encountered. Have driven everywhere in this country, Canada and Mexico. Trooper averages 150 miles a shift. I drive 300 sometimes just for the hell of it.have a home but Have lived out of a vehicle all my life. Want to be the very best of troopers? Have the experience that I have. Professional at vehicular behavioral patterns. Please get over here to Wakula co Florida and take care of all these idiots on the road here. Sheriff isn't doing anything and troopers seem to be limited to two a shift for one county. Not enough. Not even close. Really don't want to have to start policing myself. Last time I did was Iraq 93. Whished I could but can't police that way here. Need help FHP. Wakula Co Florida. Drivers here out of control and absolutely most of them do not know how to drive. Did a better job at 13 than most of these flipper heads. Thank you Troopers for What you do. My local cops suck and are all badly overweight. Should not be allowed. Want military experience? No fat people in the military. Troopers should be the same. In my 50s. 31in inseam.can you say the same? Still highschool size and weight. I just don't over eat. Called discipline. Have to lead by example. Being 50lbs overweight or more is not a good example of what a trooper should be. Y'all used to be the hardest cops out there. Not anymore. Still I respect Troopers more than any others just need more of them. As a whole drivers are worse than they have been. Lack of policing on the highways.

When I'm on the i95 going south, FHP will be literally RACING eachother on the highway, no lights, no sirens and they had their windows down, kinda strange don't you think? i did 26 yrs as a deputy sheriff in the same retirement system, a trooper would have to do well over 30 yrs to get what i get as a pension.

I was thinking about applying but once I found out they didn’t have a step pay program I immediately stopped considering. Got a job as a claims adjuster starting at $10,000 more than they start at. May try to join a county agency or a different SP/HP but the FHP pay is laughable. Brother in law is a trooper in Texas and was making over $80000 like 3 years out of the academy.

They have a lateral transfer if you’re a police officer in another state and have 2 years of continuous service. Only have to do 4 weeks at their academy instead of 26 or so

Whereas most municipal agencies in FL will hire you first (if certified out of state) and pay you while you become certified.

When I was a young man I thought about joining the police force but ended up becoming a soldier instead. Police were still trusted and respected back then. My son is 6 to 250 lb and I have strongly discouraged him and my daughter from getting into police work. There are just two mini videos on KZbin now showing police officers blatantly breaking the law violating people's rights and brutalizing them and getting away with it and I want to be very proud of my children and the work they do. It is a shame but the police have created this situation where they are no longer trusted or respected because they lie to the public and because of immunity they're very sloppy or they make up charges and put innocent people in jail.

If the police departments made it policy that police could no longer lie to the public and that they no longer had immunity if they violated the Constitution or the law then I would wholeheartedly promote police department as a viable profession but as a educator and parent I could never ethically suggest a child consider law enforcement as it is today.

Yet society will continue to vote for politicians who lie like crazy. Hell, society won't even hold the POTUS to the same standards they hold police officers. Be prepared though for what's happening now to really spiral out of control with severe manpower shortages. Many agencies are being forced to reduce manpower in specialized units like the detective bureau meaning more crimes going un-investigated. I can see it being so bad in 20-30 years that we'll have to put troops on the streets to supplement what little cops are left.

38 in the academy, 42 upon graduating. Competitive pay if you live in the Tampa Bay Area, Miami-dade area as well as the Tallahassee area which is 500-600 a month which equates to roughly 5-6k extra per year. All in all it’s about 48-49 k annually plus you get pay increase every couple of years which most of these morons commenting don’t know about the pay in Law enforcement. Not to mention what these guys make in over-time is insane. You can make (with over-time) about 60-80 an hour .
