Being a methamphetamine addicted baby . I have no idea why my mother didn't go to jail when she had my older brother on drugs too. The system set me up for failure .

The parents of these babies should be forced to do military service and repay their debt to their country, especially for the cost of rehabilitation for their child. It doesn't have to be active combat duty (probably best not to give criminals access to firearms), but they can serve in other areas such as delivering food, medicines etc. to civilian refugees and others who are in poverty or dire need (e.g. victims of natural disasters etc.).

Hooray PG&E!I So nice to see a video that shows the GOOD that can be done for babies born with medications in their system. Instead of showing those ridiculous 1940's era videos of babies suffering in cots with no help in sight. Treatments for babies have been available for many, many years now, however it's" popular" to show them suffer instead. Some hospitals are too chicken to involve themselves and rather, let the child suffer. That disgusts me but just as much, is commenter here who complained about her Tax dollars paying for the medication to stop the withdrawals. The baby's health care is paid for by the Mother's health insurance. If not, it's the Father's. The baby is covered but let's say it's not. I am more than happy to have my tax dollars pay for a baby's medication to end it's suffering of withdrawals. Some of the extremists in this country only care about politics and taxes. There's no light to see that it's hurting the most innocent...like these.

Please change your title and in the future consult your medical advisers you should have as a news organization. Using term "addicted" to refer to babies affected by neonatal abstinence syndrome is inappropriate from medical and moral ground. Those babies developed chemical dependence only and we should not be labeling them as addicted.

im sorry to say but if those newborn babies have to be born addicted to large adult measurements of drugs and go through the horrible stages of withdrawal and weining them off of whatever drug and quantity their mother is doing and get through it to live then why cant the women get off of drugs when they find out they are pregnant the "mothers" sit there and say how hard it is to get off of drugs and go though withdrawals and how it effects them what about the poor little babies that are forced to be addicted because of their selfish mothers choice not to get help and continue to do drugs when they know they are pregnant i think that known addicts that become pregnant need to be forced to get addiction help or have legal consequences

I agree completely!

Because if they try to detox while pregnant they could kill their unborn baby. Mother who have opioid use disorders are told by medical professionals not to quit cold turkey, as they could lose their baby. Instead the mother’s are put on mediation assisted treatment (MAT). There are also people who have opioid use disorders and need to be on MAT their entire lives due to PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome). Should those people who have overcome their addiction be doomed to never have babies? What about people who have chronic pain and need to take opioids in their pregnancy? It is not as black and white as you think.

depends on the judge and the CPS executes the decision of the court. Sad thing is if the mother is on methadone she gets to bring the baby home. Instead of encouraging mothers to totally clean up their system they are being supplied with methadone which can produce another drug addicted baby when they get pregnant. The cycle will never stop the way the govt hands out free methadone.

This treatment is very expensive and who pays for it? The taxpayer. The babies deserve help when withdrawing but it does put a huge strain on resources and money. There is no easy answer.
@mazy0rana8 жыл бұрын
fuck you looser , let the baby live , eat your money
@InnannasRainbow8 жыл бұрын
First of all, learn how to spell 'loser'. Second of all, it's very easy to act as though money does not matter but if you are presented with a large bill to pay and you don't have the money, things can get complicated. I did not say that the baby should not live, I said the treatment is very expensive and most people cannot afford it so the hospital has to absorb the cost and apply for more funding to keep the doors open. Funding helps but the cost absorbed by the hospital is enormous which results in cutbacks.
