@@GalinaEv it's actually more along the lines of clickbait, it's very common for channels like this and even more so for the likes of news channels, how many times have to u seen the name "Pitbull," some up on posts relating to dog attacks? Yet to anyone educated, dots don't randomly attack anything especially people, and even more so many of the dogs don't even LOOK like Pitbulls, they are either mixes or not pitties at all, and for example that includes the famous hulk "the Pitbull," not a purebred at all, and far FAR bigger than a Pitbull that should max at around 60lbs (pounds) and appear far more terrier like than bully like

This is possibly the best-looking pet iguana I've ever seen! His colors are way more vibrant than usual, his spines aren't super droopy, he isn't trying to kill her every time they interact... considering just how bad green iguanas are as pets, more for the iguana's sake, she is doing an amazing job! Hope Blue knows he is a very good, handsome boy. And that his human is a lovely person, first to take in such an infamously difficult pet from a bad situation and then to do whatever she did to make him so great!

I don’t know about pet iguanas, but I’ve been lots of places where they live in the wild, and they are aggressive. If you approach them they will start doing push-ups to intimidate you, then snap at you if you get too close. An iguana also jumped on my uncle’s head once. Never seen one anywhere near this big though, they’re like 2 feet long at the very max, when I’ve seen them. I can’t imagine how iguanas would get to be this big in the wild.

Its probably not breeding season from what i know green iguanas are usually pretty good when raised right most of the year but in breeding season that's when they become aggressive

I grew up in Costa Rica. I ended up rescuing a green iguana. I named him Jones. He was a vibrant turquoise colour. He never lost his gorgeous colour. It stayed bright blue/green his whole life. He had the longest tail. He was free roam with his own bedroom also. He loved people. I mean any new person that came into my house he would KNOW. I would hear the telltale scraping, and big THUNK (him jumping down from one of his basking spots in a window) and then his toenails scraping along the floor as he made the way into the kitchen or living room. He'd zero in on the new person, tasting the air the whole way and would demand to be picked up and petted. If we were sitting he would leap onto the new persons lap. I had many a shocked friend and acquaintance freak out in dismay, only to fall absolutely in love with Jones in under a minute. He was the most friendly iguana I had ever met. Even through breeding season. He never ever bit anyone or whipped anyone. He was a genuinely friendly lizard that just wanted to steal your body heat and get all the belly rubs and back scratches and jowl massages. You could pet him for hours and he'd never get enough. Haha. I miss him so much. He lived to the ripe old age of 17. When the time came, he passed in my arms. I loved that lizard with all my heart.

I rescued my iguana when he was 5 years old. He was starved and looked max 5-6 months old. Didnt get any UVB lights or proper nutrition. Now he's 23 years old and free roaming my appartment living his best life.

My older brother, back in '68, had an alligator lizard named Lizzie, who my parents gave run of the house priveleges. Lizzie was so chill and lovable, and very intelligwnt, because if my Dad came home from a bad day at work, Lizzie would run up to his shoulders (my Dad only tolerated pets) and my Dad would just laugh. One day, Lizzie was gone, and my family and I were in a tragic state, assuming Lizzie had escaped. We mourned for a couple of hours, of searching for Lizzie and then coming home to a somber family dinner. Then when my Mom called us and our Shetland Sheep Dog Lassie to dinner (because Lassie always ate dinner with us), my whole family almost fainted--Lizzie was home, alive, just cuddling for warmth under Lassie's tail.🦎🦎🦎

This iguana is an exceptional looking specimen. This girl is giving this creature expert care. He's more beautiful than any other reptile I've ever seen. His color is amazing and I didn't know that their spines were supposed to appear that way. Every one ice ever seen was not vibrantly colored like that and the spines are always flat. He's just beautiful. Trust me mama he loves you. You are giving him his best life.

My favorite high school science teacher had a pet iguana and she brought it to school everyday. It had its own setup in the class and would just hang out. The iguana was just one thing that made me look forward to her class every day…she was/is an awesome teacher.

They can be such great pets- my daughter gave me one for Mother’s Day many years ago….I tried my best to do everything right for him- he lived to be a wonderful old guy, he lived till the month before he was 19! Seriously. Give him the right food, keep him warm enough, and he’ll continue to keep you company for a long, long time. I live in the Treasure Coast of Florida, so it’s usually perfect weather for iguanas…and other lizards as well! Best of luck to you two! ❤❤❤❤

I’m shocked by how chill he is. Every iguana I’ve been around has been wild and aggressive. They really belong in trees in the wild unless you have a ridiculous amount of space and time to work with them. They are surprisingly intelligent for lizards you can see it in their eyes, and great climbers. They’re really cool animals but it’s rare to see them this tame and I would caution people against trying to own one

I used to know a truck driver who took his iguana everywhere. It would bask on the dash as he drove, just watching the world as they drove cross country. He would bring him into the store for a shower when he downtimed at the truck stop I worked at.

I have no experience at all with iguanas, but I'm wondering if they're really "wild & aggressive" or if that's just survival instinct. I have a lot of experience with blue tongue lizards, through wildlife rescue work & with the exception of ones that have been in pain, I've never had any aggression issues with them, but I've heard a lot of stories about them being aggressive in captivity in other countries. I've even had fully grown, fully wild, great big males climb into my bed with me during the night, one in particular seemed to enjoy doing it for laughs. They'll hiss & carry on, but are not at all aggressive & that's across the board with wild ones in Australia, quite normal for kids to decide the wild lizard in their backyard is their "pet" & to pick it up & carry it around & take it to school for show & tell etc etc, cause there's unspoken rules in Australia as to how they must be treated with respect, so they never learn aggression. Pet ones overseas though seem to come from a completely different system, so I'm wondering if iguanas are the same story & if put into settings where they can trust their humans, if they settle down & become passive really quickly & easily? Again, I have no experience with them, just wondering, based on other lizard species. I could certainly imagine any that's been smuggled into a country by a human could be aggressive & untrusting towards humans for life after that experience

@@suchabadkitty1293 Ye, an iguanas are definitely none, not only because they need large amounts of space, and multiple heated areas, but also a varied if not complex herbivorous or maybe omnivorous diet for some types of iguanas, but also because they are really dangerous, untamed individuals or even tamed males during breeding season can literally bite off digits or even break bones with their tail, and not small bones literally your arm or leg bones could be broken by these animals. As well as many of them are semi arboreal or even mainly arboreal spending a majority of their time up high, so not only does an enclosure need a large floor space, but also extensive height opportunities, and for some species, extensive water access as well. Iguanas and other reptilians lizards and snakes imo are not good animals to keep for the average private keeper. You either need extensive indoor space you're willing to sacrifice to their needs, or extensive access to build a suitable outdoor environment, which honestly in the right places I'd probably say outdoors would not only be better in many ways, but probably just easier to mimic their needs.

@@suchabadkitty1293This is very true, but respectfully.. as someone who knows the ins and outs of reptile keeping and having some myself, as long as you are responsible, do your research, provide the animal with the correct environment (husbandry, enrichment, diet, temperatures, humidity levels), respect its boundaries, and attain- in this case, the reptile- from a reputable source, it is not inherently bad to keep one. Basically, just do your research and make sure that you can meet the animal’s needs both physically and financially.

We had 3 iguanas growing up. One was a male so the same size as this guy and the other two were female. They had a custom 300 gallon tank but honestly, they only spent nights in there. We let them free roam around the house. Favorite spot of their was my parents heated waterbed. They would nuzzle underneath the pillows. They are honestly almost like dogs and they have a ton of personality.

Blue is quite a character, lovely to see an adopted exotic animal living as good a life as one can. (He may be 5', but fortunately only weighs 15lbs!) His person is amazing w/her assortment of animals, so thoughtful as to her iguana's specific needs.🦖🐊🦎

Blue is a great kid ! He leads a pampered life, and it's obvious that he enjoys it. He's also very intelligent and has feelings. If you keep indulging him in that area, he may really surprise you. You do a wonderful job !

This really warms my heart and think of the Iguana Jose I took from a friend, who was 15 when I got him. His bottom jaw half removed from cancer and scars and improperly healed broken claws and arm. He was in dire shape and on deaths door when Me and my then fiancee nursed him back to health and proudly became his parents for another 13 years til he passed from renal failure. He was one of the greatest things to come into my life and teach me about compassion and to never judge looks because he was the sweetest creature I've ever been blessed to know. The woman who I cared for him with and Jose Iguana have both passed on. I'd like to think they are together somewhere.

Breeding for profit should be outlawed. I tried breeding ferrets for money, but after easily selling one batch of ferret babies, I knew it was wrong. I quit. We don't OWN life. We can take care of life, but owning it is delusion.

I also charged money to adopt a batch of puppies once, but I wasn't doing it for profit. I was charging money to filter out people who weren't serious about taking care of them. It was a very modest fee. It helped pay for medical care the mother needed.

@@calimero600 No animal should ever be taken from the wild. Unless it is part of a licensed, specialised breeding program to protect a species. Most reptiles kept as pets are bred in captivity and many would not survive in the wild. As much as no animal should be taken from the wild, no captive bred animal should ever be released into the wild.

I had an iguana growing up. An important thing to mention is how long they live, this is a major long term commitment. Iggy lived for 20 years. Not sure how much longer they live but we were shocked.

Beautiful iguana!!!❤ I raised an iguana in San Diego that was similar to him in a lot of ways, and who I fed a very similar diet with the addition of marmoset, and kingworms (his favorites), and tried some other small animals he didn’t like. But he LOVED kingworms!!! In San Diego, hibiscus grows everywhere. So, I would garnish his meals with it. I toilet trained him with kingworms. What happened was that I had been keeping him on a network of branches above my desk in college with a heat lamp on the ceiling just above them. I noticed that around 12 noon every day, he would climb down and gambol out through the hallway to the bathroom, climb over the tub side, and slide down into the tub where he would poop. I started to follow him into the bathroom with a bucket of kingworms and when he would go toward the tub, I would redirect him (at first not without a fight) to the toilet, where I would push his base of tail toward the water. Once he would start to feel the water and cool from inside the bowl on his anus, he’d let rip. I would immediately feed him several king worms. Didn’t take very long for him to make an association and start doing it on his own! He was also locally known for body-surfing and taking scritches and pets from kids at the beach. His name was Oz, the Great and Mighty. 🎉 For carrying, I would carry him on the back of my forearm. If you lift your elbow as though you’re pushing the elbow forward, the hand facing backward with palm up to the sky, this forms a backward facing surface at ear-height. I would place him facing backwards, left-ear to left-ear or right-ear to right-ear, butt over the elbow and tail cascading down forward and carry him that way. He enjoyed being carried that way and looking back behind us as we walk, or ride a bicycle or a skateboard. :)

Iguanas are so fascinating to watch. The colour and details on their skin are incredible. Hard to spay cold blooded animals because anesthesics are high risk. This lady is incredible and you can clearly see how well he has thrived and how happy he is 😊

@@calimero600 Green iguanas are pretty easy to breed in captivity, and from Blue's temperament, I highly suspect he was bred and raised in captivity. As much as a wild animal as a dog. So consider releasing your dog and cat into the wild too! /s

@@calimero600 some people choose an exotic pet because they have allergies to cats and dogs. Some people have a fear of cats and dogs too. Not everyone wants a cat or dog for a pet. I've had cats and dogs, my two iguanas are probably my favorite exotic pets I own. They are crazy smart and have great personalities. Try not to judge people so hard for wanting something different.

@@calimero600 also he was probably never a wild animal, and probably same with his parents. Most iguanas in the exotic pet trade are from breeders, not from the wild. Taking an animal out of the wild is actually frowned upon in the pet trade.

He trusts her, and he enjoys her body heat and being fed / touched, but he cannot love her. That doesn't take away from the relationship they have; reptiles aren't mammals, so they don't have the requisite brain structures to experience love.

He is so beautiful, all those colors. I remember a story I heard once: a man saw the most beautiful iguana and wanted to have him as a trophy, so the man killed it thinking that he would be able to have the colors. Unfortunately as soon as the animal died, the colors faded and were gone forever. The man realized that the colors were because the animal was alive and breathing, and its not a trophy that you can possess, you can just enjoy and marvel at its beauty. This story reminded me of that. I can only imagine that it was such a beautiful creature and the colors were an expression of emotions and nature's truest form of beauty.

Your iguana looks so incredibly healthy he reminds me of one we had here in Britain called Hector, a guy transformed his house into a rescue Palace for exotic pets. His conservatory was an amazing enclosure for a baby crocodile fitted with a river and waterfall. But Hector was his pride and joy he had his own room in the house and was treated like a king

I'd absolutely love to do this if I get my dream of being able to live rurally since then I don't have the restriction of people complaining and can just do what I want for the animals, especially since I want to rescue as sadly many people here get common and exotic pets for their looks or the status when to anyone with basic knowledge they can tell they aren't ready. Like LGDs, big lizards, snakes, and more, but I'm also tempted by the idea of breeding, but only really for the idea of food unless in the future I can get a better guarantee on ethical sources, yk?

I had a female green iguana that also grew to 5 fet. She was 13 when I had to make the decision for her quality of life. She hung out with my cats. I had set up a pet door in a basement window with a carpet so she could climb up it to join the cats out in the run. She loved the sunshine. I had the welders at work make a 1" deep tray 3 feet x 4 feet, line it with newspaper and that was her toilet. She always used it. I took her and my small dogs everywhere. Have heating pad, will travel. Sarah was a joy to share my life with.
