Hammock camping is all about not having to sleep on the ground, but sometimes you just don't have a choice.

Iuse a thin yoga mat for insulation which works well most of the year but... not very comfy if you have to ground it. I now have a lightweigh self inflating mattress that is comfy on the ground (R4) and works when slung. I have swapped out the carabiners for a pair of 12kn lightweight jobs. Makes it even faster to strip as the design doesn't catch on the strap like the suppliedones tend to do.

Why are all these tent/hammocks sized for short people only?? How about a long version for taller folks??

Our recommended max length is 195cm (6.4 ft). How ever, if you are taller, you can let your feet stick out into the foot end storage area.It will be just as comfortable, but you will not be able to fit as much of your gear in the foot storage area. Plenty of people taller than 2 meters (6.6 ft) use it and say that it is very comfortable. You still have the head end storage area, the ridge line to hang stuff from and the bug net to put things in, but depending on how much gear you bring, you might need to store parts of it outside the hammock if you are really tall. A limiting factor is the availability of wider fabric. We make the hammock out of a single piece of fabric, so that there are no perpendicular seams that can age from stretching over the years. We really want our hammocks to last a lifetime. So ultimately, the maximum length of our hammock is determined by the width of the looms making the fabric.
