If you are a very observant, careful, conscientious individual, you can take your typical tube-fed lever action and fire modern spitzer style bullets through it no problem whatsoever; just never load more than one round in the magazine and one round in the chamber at a time. Fire, load another. Fire, load another. You essentially have a fast two-shot.
