*NOTE* I've seen some concern online about the 6L37 movement having a 2-3 year service interval. Do you know what other movement has a 2-3 year service interval? EVERY 4R/NH movement. Seiko recommends servicing their watches every 2-3 years as a blanket conservative estimate.

It’s really sharp and, for a a Marinemaster, very unexpected in its design. I really like it, and I like its specs. The lume is awesome, and the textured dial face draws me in. I, too would have preferred a closed case back. The bracelet looks great! I agree with your first impressions.

I love Seiko too. I'm not fond of the display caseback and the shiny finishing. I also prefer the traditional 10-20-30-40-50 bezel graduations. Very nice but too "desk divey" for my tastes.

I thought it interesting you said you found your SPB143 terribly boring. I've personally been into watches for about 10 yrs now, and I own the SPB147 & SPB213 and love them! The comfort, fit, and style are perfect for me. In fact I've worn them more than any other watch I own the past 2 years. But like you said in another comment, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. Good video, thanks 👍

I believe we may have found a new sub-nickname for this MM. The “MarineMaster ZFG” ??! ;-P Congrats on giving it an unforgettable name ! Btw I just saw all three variants at the store. I echo your observations; taken at face value, These things are just gorgeous. Difficult for me to pick my favorite. But If I put on my own ZFG helmet, and tug on the chinstrap tightly, I would probably go for the blue one (and it’s actually not cuz the blue dial, but moreso for the handsomeness of that blue bezel …)

Very nice pickup--I've been waiting to see the black dial variant, as I think this colorway is the strongest in the lineup. Why must Seiko insist on ruining their typically amazing dials with a date window? I know it's early days for you with this piece, but how's the accuracy on the 6L37? I've been eyeing the SPB Willard again recently, but what I've read and seen on the 6R35's functionality and timekeeping is generally abysmal.
