A first impressions video of a knife from a company I had initially swore off.

i believe the benchmade barrage to be the best edc/defensive folder available right now. the design, the size the blade shape is perfect. it is easier and faster to open than an automatic because when drawn you do not have to adjust your grip to fire a button on an auto which is usually the lock so it has to be close to the right side of the pivot area, when you draw the barrage your thumb is right there on the thumb stud to flick it open. your point about how fast the blade deploys is not really a deal breaker for me i see the assist as a more reliable way to open the knife with less pressure and dexterity required to flick it open with thumb strength alone. ill probably have to make a video about it some day.

I've got one and I beat the crap out of it and it's held up for ten plus years. Great knife. Mines a drop point in 154cm.

It's hard to show how solid this knife is through a screen but this thing is a tank.

$145 is an amazing deal since most of these are over $200

Got my barrage from a local pawn shop for $30... the assist was broken and it was missing all but two scale screws.. after market screws and a de-assist, my barrage is now a figity glove knife.. $15 for the screws, and its like new now...

Ive never lock my safety on the barrage and it has never accidentally opened.

after having this knife for a while that is a highly unlikely scenario

Yea, I’m looking at one now and I’m just trying to learn a little first. I LOVE everything about this knife but I’m not sure I can live with the double handed closure. Gotta think about it ya know? Thanks for the video man it helped 🙏

at the time I think I was a little too critical about it. Now that some time has passed since I reviewed it I'm very comfortable with closing this knife one-handed. I don't think it was ever really an issue, but I do prefer non-assisted opening knives more. I just don't think the assisted opening feature is anything more than a gimmick, but that's just me. I know a lot of people love it and the Barrage is built like a freaking tank. Appreciate the positive feedback💯

I have the mini barrage, I can close the thing one handed and I do it all the time. Takes some practice, but I just disengage the lock and push my index finger against the spine of the blade and it closes smoothly.

You're right. I still am not a huge fan of assisted openings for the same reason (I don't think they provide enough of a benefit especially when axis locks have very quick deployments anyways).

I have since replaced this verson with the satin finished one, but it's an absolute tank. A fantastic choice for EDC with tolerances that immedately slap you in the face🤘

Just bought mine at the px overseas for 99 bucks. Complete steal for the price.

How? I paid about 140$ for it at PX overseas

At AL Udeid airbase I've never seen it for more than 119.00. I got mine for 99.99. 140 isn't a very good deal brotha.

Wow. The dirty Deid still exists? I opened that base. Been retired since 2010.

Good review. Thinking of getting this one. To put it mildly, it’ll be my fifth Benchmade climbing to a total of over $1000 in Benchmade knives. I have the Mini Freek (which when you mentioned one handed closing with the Axis lock makes sense) Mini Infidel OTF, (bad ass except for the price) the Claymore (snaps out like a... well, claymore mine. Hold on!) the Presido II which will be here this week. Someone mentioned a mini of this. Off to take a look on that. Good, honest review.

Thanks for watching. I think I spoke too early about the one-handed operation of this assisted opening. It's very doable especially with some practice and getting used to using the knife. But I stand firm in my thoughts that unassisted is just as easily opened and even easier closed than assisted. Great benchmade collected BTW.

I'm thinking of getting this. Is it still worth it in 2020?

I love it. I prefer the satin-finished blade, but both versions are great. Decently sized and built like a tank.

I just purchased this knife, exact same one, pretty high quality, but I would say my Gerber Propel Downrange is every bit as good, just my opinion

They are ugly. Only the one you just bought and the Vallet (Spelling) are nice looking and have the right price. If I bought one it would be this one. Seeing the back spine and the locking mechanism, I'm pretty sure I will. Thanks

It's not "standard issue". If you are in special forces then you may be able to receive fancy toys like folding knives but for the rest of the military it's difficult to get anything outside of the standard equipment.

@@degenerateWA we got these when we deployed, along with Oakley eye pro, Gerber tools just depends on the unit. This was in 2012 for me, I retired in 2014 medical. You will inevitably spend money on shit like this unfortunately. The worst is the pog guys who buy all this shit they will never use. It opening that fast means you get into your Amazon box or mre that much faster lol.

@kawika dav i thought it was ocp now. That one looks like the navy marine woodland uniform. I never got to play dress up. And we had multicam in trashghanistan
@degenerateWA4 жыл бұрын
It is a Navy uniform. Dumbest uniform design for the Navy ever IMO. Hopefully they'll get their heads out of their asses soon and make a uniform that makes sense for Sailor out to sea.
