I love your Vinyl record set up. I have one myself with a 1974 Aristona(Philips) Pick up and a Phonola (Philips) Amp from 1971, The speakers are 2021 Sony two way though. my Game Computer has Philips 3 way speakers from 1978 and a Marantz Model 1070 Amp from 1977. (Floor Jansen is a real Goddes)

And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Buenos Aires in 2018 in the Decades tour, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Hey Justin, thank you for following my recommendation and reacting to Nightwish. I'm pretty sure I've told you that Nightwish is a Finnish band, but Floor is Dutch. Floor is a perfectly normal name in the Netherlands by the way. The bagpipes you saw are Uilleann pipes (Irish national bagpipe). They're being played by Troy, the other non-Finnish Nightwish member. He's an English multi-instrumentalist. The song you've just watched is a more folky, celtic sounding song. They also have the heavier ones, as well as more epic, melodic songs. If you're going to continue reacting to Nightwish, you'll be surprised how many different styles they do. Their first vocalist was Tarja, she was purely operatic. Floor can do the opera style too, but she adjusts her voice to the song. She can sing any style really, she even grunts when needed. You haven't seen/heard anything yet! If you want to know more about the band and their history, have a look at Gabriel Bardac's comment (he'll be here soon). You will also find a list with song suggestions in his comment. Don't think for a second that THIS is todays Nightwish and THIS is how Floor sings all the time. Almost every Nightwish song is a genre by itself and Floor has the vocal capabilities to nail each and every one of them in whatever the song needs. You'll be in for a treat. 😊

First singer, Tarja, was only operatic, second singer, Annette, was pop and this singer Floor Jansen can sing anything. You should listen to her at Wacken 2013 singing 15 songs all written for Tarja and Annette. You will only consider Evanescence to be even close to Nightwish until you've heard two or possibly three songs as they are now so diverse.

Nightwish has a lot of variation. If you want opera listen to the ending of Shoemaker. Think you guys will like most songs of their performance at Wacken 2013. You can’t go wrong with any song at Wacken. Also love Devil and the deep dark ocean at the same concert where this song was performed. (Argentina)

Shoemaker is great and from their recent album. If you want to hear Floor go operatic on a song from the time you listened to them then try Stargazers live at Tampere 2015. But you may as well find her performing an Italian aria from Puccini (O mio babbino caro) or a German aria with a metal twist (Vilja Lied by Franz Léhar) from the Beste Zangers 2019 tv show. Not to forget her and Marko (bassist) performing Franz Schubert's Ave Maria at various Raskasta Joulua concerts using three languages (Finnish, Latin and English). And of course you will get lots of recommendations for songs with totally different vocal techniques and styles and they never dissappoint. Have fun on journey through this rabbit hole 🤘🏻.

Floor Jansen the Queen of metal ❤️is a classically trained and a professional voice coach with at least 20 years experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon performances and a Dutch reality show beste zangers in 2019 and 2021, she is married to the drummer of the band Sabaton and has her own KZbin channel doing cover songs and a master class online, she is Dutch. Floor pronounced Floor. Dutch, meaning flower. The Buenos Aires concert is fantastic. Many say Wacken 2013 is the bar, but I think the BA concert is as good. Floor's costume here is by Royal Black Couture in Austria and is custom made as she isc183cm tall Yroy is English and plays anything from Bazouki, through Uilleann pipes to vocals and guitar. Marco has left but is s9uperb and sounds great with Floor.

Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Tarja was more of a strictly opera vocalist, a specialist.. Where Floor has a more broader range of vocal talents.. If you continue further down the rabbithole (as general of the NW Army Gabriel will probably come swooping on with his gospel of NW), you’ll see why Floor ia loved by pretty much all of the fans.. Welcome (back) to Nightwish and symphonic metal. Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen was the original lead singer and the most operatic of the 3. The second was Anette Olzon (pop/rock style). And you just met Floor Jansen (Yan-sen), the 3rd , current ,and most versatile singer. That instrument was the Uilleann (ill-en or ill-yen) pipes. The Irish version of the bagpipes which is inflated by a bellows squeezed with the elbow. Uilleann is the Gaelic word for elbow. Yes, Marko plays Warwick basses. And Empuu plays ESP guitars. They are all finish , except for Floor (Dutch), multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley (UK) , and 2nd singer Anette (Sweden) I believe Floor is derived from Flora, the Roman Goddess of spring.

Troy a multi instrumentalist from the UK, is playing the uillean (elbow) pipes. You pump air in using bellows under right elbow and squeeze air through pipes using bag under left arm. Very tricky to play. He also plays whistles, guitar, bouzouki etc etc. LOL

Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Troy is playing Uilleann pipes, an Irish variety of bagpipe...not synth, not electric...very traditional, just mic'd. He, by the way, is from the UK, while Floor is from the Netherlands. The rest of the band is from Finland. Floor can do those operatic vocals, too...this just isn't that kind of song. In fact, she can sing...literally...anything. Any song, any genre, any style, which allows Tuomas (keyboardist and main songwriter) to write whatever he wants without worrying about the limitations of his vocalist...she has none. For this reason they have become very diverse...no two of their songs really sound alike. Anything live from 2013 until the present, while Floor's been the vocalist, is amazing. You mentioned Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean...check out the live version with Floor from this same Buenos Aires show. Normally the best Entry point for a newby to Nightwish with Floor is "Ghost Love Score", from the Wacken (2013) concert, In that song you will get a much better impression of Floor Jansens capabilities. Many other songs from this concert are also very good (such as Romanticide, Song of Myself, Storytime, etc. etc.) Another very good one from this concert is "Devil and the deep dark ocean". Floor Jansen is Dutch (Her first name is a Dutch names which comes from Fleur (French) or Flower) Floor is a partially classically trained soprano, with an amazing range and versatility (she can sing operatic if she wants, and she sometimes does, but only if necessary for the song..) Boy, are you guys in for a ride! Just follow Gabriel's guidance and you'll be alright. In old NW the classical (not opera) style was basically all there was to the songster back then. She developed her voice considerably during her solo-career after having been kicked out of NW in 2005. She's a much better all-round vocalist now. Enter Floor (2012; from Wacken 2013 onwards official member), the Dutch Valkyrie Queen of metal. She does it all: changes vocal styles within a song when needed, adds texture, depth & dynamic range and above all she can make you feel the song and the soul of the composer (Tuomas). Just do the legendary Wacken 2013 live concert and enjoy the ride (cave: beware of some BluRay versions, they're too slow). Also, like Gabriel's suggesting, check out her "Beste Zangers 2019" appearances, preferably the longer versions with some backstory commentary from the participants. It's great fun! Those bagpipes are not the usual bagpipes. The one's you know are the Scottish one's The one's Troy is playing are the Irish one's. The main differance is the Scottish one's you Blow into the bag. The Irish one's you pump them under your arm pit.

Nice reaction guys... but you definitely started with the wrong video if you're looking for more intense stuff. I wont list any recommendations because I see others here already have. If you go down the NW rabbit hole (specifically the stuff with Floor ) I'm very confident that you will not regret it! Nightwish is one of those rare bands that is greater than the sum of its parts....almost magical in a way... although Floor Jansen (pronounced Floor) is certainly one of the greatest female singers (if not the greatest) today...imho. She has tons of stuff to watch here on youtube with Nightwish and also doing solo stuff. Check her out. She is Fantastic!!!
