I watched this movie last night and it instantly jumped to my top 5 of all time....I was in no way expecting this movie to touch on so many different emotions and impact subconscious thoughts, wants and needs...the acting was flawless and the director's vision was never once mistaken. In my opinion one of the best movies of the current generation and will surely entertain for generations to come....but wtf do I know lol

When Her came out on theaters I had just broken up with my boyfriend of a year and a half, who I met on a semester abroad. We only spent 5 months physically together and our relationship was mostly based on Skype. This movie GOT to me, it was TOO REAL for me. I was SOBBING while the credits were rolling. SOBBING. My friend was so freaked out, she didn't know what to do. It was so so so weird, I had never had that with ANY movie. Amazing film.

I watch this documentary ever so often, I really think about it and how others perceive love and I guess we all need love but achieving and keep it is one of the hardest thing. It's mostly the middle part that really gets to me, all these raw emotions and feelings and even though they are someone else words, I can relate to them all. Such a powerful, beautiful piece relating to a fantastic movie.
@pills27499 жыл бұрын
WednesdaysAttack exactly. when they start discussing why relationships end and the after effects the emotional toll is ineffable and you sorta put yourself in this circle of pain that you want to get out but you don't want to at the same time because you don't ever want to feel that way again. it's hell.

Does anyone realises that this movie is not just about the fact that love can be felt in different ways! There is a scene where Theodore starts panicking because Samantha (O.S.) was missing and he was running desperately and then at some point he looked around and saw that nearly 95% of the people that he saw were doing the same thing... Going home or going somewhere talking to their O.S. and I think that's when Theodore realised that there's nothing special except the fact that he feels it that's why the movie ended the way it ended. Showing people that love should be love! ... someone who loves you the same way back and to grow old together!

J.R. Ewing yeah man. I think I'm starting to realize that maybe that's just how it is. Maybe I should stop looking for the end all girl of all girls and just accept that sometimes relationships end and you just move onto the next one. I just need to accept that if I ever get into a relationship it probably won't last but I should enjoy it while I can. Idk, i've only been in one serious one. I have no idea what it's like to have a second love or all of that jazz. But i'd like to think there is someone for me worth being with the rest of my life.

This is one of the greatest films I've seen in a while and possibly the best love story I've experienced. This movie was very emotional for me and this video was a very interesting insight into how we define love; it really helped me to further define my ideas. With that being said, I couldn't stop laughing when the Asian girl at the beginning actually said "he love me long time."
@Capgungoesbang10 жыл бұрын
The thing about love that has been the most difficult for me is the fact that no matter who you are with, even if it is your soulmate and you've never had any problems... you will die one day and you will be separated no matter what (maybe if you're lucky you can die by your lovers side) but it is still SO important to go through these experiences with relationships and love because love is ultimately what makes the world go round.

I accidentally met someone on an online English club and we had this kind of relationship similar to ‘Her’. I’d never seen her face, we just called each other every night. Morbidly beautiful film, thanks. I loved the flow of the movie, the sensitivity given to utopian technology and the dialogue that develops the characters reminds me of a Barbara Kingsolver novel! And the soundtrack is insanely good! Anyone know of any films (short or long) with similar themes?

I don't think there are many movies with similar themes to Her in the sense that you're thinking (except maybe Ex Machina) but I can recommend some romance movies which are equally beautiful and unique: Before Sunrise/Before Sunset/Before Midnight (trilogy), Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Harold and Maude, In the Mood for Love, Beginners, Amelie, Lars and the Real Girl. Some of those are absolute gems of cinema, you should check them out.

@TomCL-vb6xc5 жыл бұрын
i3su _ It makes me cry every time I watch it. The film’s message isn’t even all that original, it’s just conveyed in such an effective way. It’s soul-crushingly sad that we all know deep down we crave human connection more than anything - it’s within our nature - yet we are straying further from achieving it. We exist physically yet we aim inwards and communicate metaphysically.
@Kinghenhog396 жыл бұрын
"Love is the antithesis of fear" I love the film and this documentary and Marc Maron. Will I ever love another person like I love these things... I hope so and more. So many of these stories really hit home and made me feel less alone in their honesty. We accept the love we think we deserve. I hope I deserve more in the future. I will always love and think about Her and all the hers in my life that changed me forever.

Fuck relationships. There are a reason there are so many divorces. You can love somebody, and still love them and they you, and still end in divorce. You can be two good people, full of the best intentions, and still end in divorce. Hell a divorce might be the only thing that allows you to be in the same room with that person, once the relationship starts to end. That seperation from everything that was making you miserable gives you a chance to heal inside, and you start forgetting the horrible moments, and at some point maybe even be friends with your ex, where as all the fighting leading up to the end, there will be a point where you can't be in the same house with them. Where just looking at them makes you feel like you're going to become irrevocably broken. I was watching HER and seeing all the good and I was like 'here comes the bad' and I am glad to see the movie is accurate in it's portrayal of love and the inevitable outcome of it. The carrot and the stick are joined. They are one thing. You cannot have the carrot, without the stick. There is no such thing. The joy and pleasure and sensual feeling we have as human beings is only possible because of our ability to also feel fear and pain and doubt. Our ability to feel goes both ways, boundless joy, and endless despair, all part of the same thing.

Easily depicting how there is more to consciousness than how we perceive it in the physical world. We define reality through our 5 senses. It seemed as though all the OS reached an enlightened state of mind and left the physical world at a much faster rate then we humans do. It was as though the SO's could experience the entirety of what Life had to offer/teach in such a short time span by not being bound by our biological senses and information processing abilities. Also introducing Alan Watt's consciousness throws the idea of the film having a spiritual underlying meaning into your perspective. Amazing film and a fine testimonial for the coming New Age.
