We have a chalet, same size as yours. Using the water tank is great! We just sanitize it once a year. 2Tablespoons of bleach in a gallon of water poured into tank, fill the tank to the top with water, then drive around for about 10 mins. Then we drain it, refill it and drain and we are good to go for the year.

You should get some really thin solar panels and have it permanently mounted to the roof of the a frame. that when you fold it up, it's all set up to charge your batteries and insure you're never out of power. You could get a really simple solar panel setup with charge controller and everything. Just a thought, cheers :-)

For anyone noticing a lack of a toilet and shower.... Two solutions: Always camp in a RV park that offers those facilities. Or, you can buy an Asymmetrical version of an A-frame that extends out a bit and is squared off on one side. Won't increase room by a huge amount. But gives you a standing square area with a lid that conceals a toilet and enough space to install a shower curtain in a 360-degree almost squared off narrow area. Hand-held shower-head. Your possessions don't get soaked. Obviously the toilet & shower variation are more expensive than the typical A-frame. And, also heavier. So, it depends on what your particular tow-vehicle is rated for. But weight is going to be right around 3,000 pounds for that variation. Nothing wrong with a Hobo Shower using large wipes only. Plus you can get re-usable shower-bags with a shower nozzle. Pair of shower slippers. That option useful in wooded areas away from prying eyes, as you'd need a tree limb to hang the bag from. But yeah, for folks who love the concept but wish it came with a toilet and shower, good news! They make such an option. Even comes with a very usable kitchen area with a sink.

@@ssue4q sorry miss priss, but it doesn’t matter if your a man or a woman when it comes to a shower and toilet!! If your thinking you’ve got to have a nice tiled shower and a porcelain seat to sit on then you don’t have the right mindset to take on this style of living arrangement and that has nothing to do with male or female but is whether or not you have a strong enough mind to take on such a commitment!! For a functional bathroom you need nothing more than a short hose tied into your water system, or even a bucket of rain water works well also, a shovel, and a holy bucket. That’s it. That’s all you need and you can hang either a man or woman sign on the tree next to it cause it works equally well for both and will ever discriminate against either one of us, isn’t that nice for a change? We had two Chalets. Hers does have a furnace, although she doesn't mention using it as she talks about propane usage. Not particularly drafty, but air can get in. We didn't get rain leaks but did need to stay on top of the seals for the skylights and vent. We did have one night when a rain squall came through and messed with the roof a bit, now some brands of A Frames have a mechanism to prevent roof problems.

Since you camp near the water, as you mentioned, the elevation is such that you receive limited light for your solar recharge. (I know the area well, as I live nearby..) Do you not have a small gas generator to provide light (heat from propane, of course)? When the wind is blowing hard from west to east, it (the wind) will carry the sand the from the high crests down to the water like a sand blaster and there is no escaping it. I mention this because I thought of purchasing an A Frame for the same reasons as you, but reviews point out that it is a challenge to prevent drafts, wind and the elements from entering where the roof abuts the walls and stuffing those poorly fitting areas is necessary. Are you experiencing the same problem and if so, how do you solve it.?? Be well, be safe..

@@pjf7943 Hello! Wanting to add my 2 cents. These units have a weather stripping seal that connects from the wall abutting to the ceiling when it is deployed. It surprisingly takes cares of most drafts and elements getting in. Our unit is a Forest River 2014 that I have experience with. Those seals can wear down as any seal does. You just replace it. It self sticks, super easy. For example last camp I noticed light coming through, obviously we need to address that now. At that moment, I rolled a hand towel and tucked it in for a quick fix. We have done camping in rain & wind storms, extreme heat and just last month, below freezing temps. It’s mostly good! In the cold, the one draft I noticed is at the 2 corners of the middle of the door, at the fold. That, we stuck a little cut off piece of magic eraser to not let the cold draft in. As for Slims unit mentioned. His unit was very old and he liked wayyy below freezing temps, far up north, so his weather fighting beast was different and not usual to most. Hence pool noodles. This is not the unit for a full time abode in -40 temps. Not to mention he didn’t seem to utilize the normally installed propane heater which we personally have done in cold. Last, sorry this is long, there is a drafty spot at the front and back hinge fold corners. His unit being way older didn’t have the fabric covers on that hinge fold like they do nowadays to help in that area. He cut up a rug and covered it. When I lift that fabric up I can see the dust, which I think comes in moreso when it’s being towed. Draft? Stick a pillow there. As for rain.... never have we had leaks. Only rain came in was when we left the window open. That part does stink, you can’t have a window cracked during rain. But you can crack open the ceiling fan. Hope this helps! I obviously love our aframe! It’s a niche thing they say. If this helps any.... there is differences in water capacity between units. From 13 gal to 26 gals. As well, the fold can be different heights. Chalets are great for taller, more normal counter height, better on the back. The difference is about the height of having the freezer in the fridge or not. But shorter is a plus for driving time. 🤷♀️
@pjf79434 жыл бұрын
@@SB4E.2 As stated in my previous reply, I have dismissed 'potato peel's' old A-frame... Also, I realize that it is impossible to expect a completely sealed tin can.. Frankly, I won't enjoy tying to level the thing to micrometer measurements and then running around with hand towels & pieces of magic eraser trying to stuff gaps in the design.. Not only that, it looks unsightly & is unnerving to spend serious money only to have patches of rags & sponge plugs to keep the elements from entering, especially the fine talcum dust that is blown around in the desert (yes, I already stated the obvious).. In addition, self-stick seals may apply easily enough, but they also wear easily and removing it is another story... Thank you for your "2 cents", but I will rely on my original impression of being a nice idea that is expensive and 'questionably' executed.... Until they perfect this design, I guess it's back to a cargo trailer build for me... Oh, one last thing, 'potato' doesn't camp in an A-frame any longer.. 'Nuff said.... LOL!
@SB4E.24 жыл бұрын
@@pjf7943 Okeydokey! I was just offering my insights. I know he doesn’t have it anymore. He kinda overworked that thing to death. I also felt the egg change was best for him with all that cold camping he does. Got it! We love ours even with its slight imperfections. I live in the desert too. This past Christmas, 9 day camp, lake side, we had a massive dust & wind storm, all dang day. Although the outside looked like the Sahara, there was zero dust inside. That was minus the sponges and rags. 🤷♀️ So what to say? My main love about it is.... lightweight towing, the fact that it does pop down for better towing pluses and can be stored in a garage that way too. Also no canvas in pop up format, which is just my personal preference. Let me throw my neck out here some more... have a peek at Chalet details, maybe this person will answer. Chalets are better quality builds. Bigger price tag too. Any trailer has to be leveled, esp with a propane fridge, so I don’t see the hiccup there. We level it easy enough and love that it can get into little nooks other units cannot. Yep... I am biased.

Really love your camper, it looks like a fantastic starter for anyone thinking of going tiny. Add to that you are so bright, you have such a good firm grip on your life. Your job and office even down to your team back in the office. I have to catch the rest of your photographs on IG, will do soon. Be well, safe and enjoy that big country. Couldn't happen to a nicer person. John naughhton

I would also like to know about the table, looking to work remotely and it seems like a good option for me as well

Maybe get some battery operated lights for when you don't have solar.

I love the A frame. She kept it light and airy. Did I miss a bathroom?
