The game is optimized a lot differently on Xbox. They make commands a lot easier on Xbox. Still a disadvantage compared to PC in my opinion tho no doubt.

It's probably safe to say that these guy's have game-understanding that is on par with much higher-ranked players but due to self-limitation by playing with a controller they can't execute as fast or precisely on it. So to get better, they probably have developed all sorts of tricks and shortcuts that keyboard and mouse players are not aware of. It's seriously impressive.

1700 on controller is absolutely insane with how the meta has changed in the last couple years. 1700s are better now than they were when I first hit it 3 years ago, and back then 1700 was top 500. Consider him being 2k+ on a controller if he played a few years ago. Wild

Hera's gameplay is so amazing. I'm still in awe of his performance in our 4v2. We had Sir Explosive Hopper, (over 1600 elo), Zwwraith (1400 elo) , mdbm (1100 elo), and myself (1100 elo) vs himself and KyleBC (1300 elo), and we still almost lost. If I remember correctly, Hera had 60 champs by the time each member on our team had about 8-10 units. Dude is an absolute beast, and we're looking forward to the rematch lol

@@mrwalter7205 It's a different elo leaderboard from xbox mouse vs xbox controller. These two are 2k+ elo on controller only. There are only like 200 active xbox players. These two are hundreds of elo better than every other xbox player, completely in a league of their own.

There's a hotkey to centre the view on the currently selected unit (spacebar by default). Smash the number then space fast!

Hera normally you loom right before feudal or after feudal, so in case you get drush like 3 min militia, how will you defend yourself. Please explain how to defend against drush if you dont have loom

@@SenatorAri naw, if the 2 players understands the theory of a 2v1, they can't lose it. They didnt understand what to do in game 1, but they figured it out by game 2 and hero could no longer win in any case. 2v1 is simply too potent a benefit to overcome unless the skill gap is stupidly large

My heart broke a little ngl😂 also rip to the forward castle, great idea to pressure without army and stabilize in the back making use of the defenders advantage. game 3: same mistake as in game 2, sadly ( 1:19:36 )

Not a mistake. The 2 players just finaly realized they can't lose to 1 player if they know how to play it correctly. They have 400 vs 200 pop endgame, so they will eventually win no matter what if they know how to mitigate archer damage early. It then becomes impossible to win as the solo player.

@BjornStatenguard Still a mistake. I see your point, but in a perfect world where Hera didn't lose the crossbows/archers just before reaching the next age, it could have led to a win on his side. Look at the time stamps mentioned above, Hera even calls it a mistake himself.

Im like top 50 1v1 on console with 1650 elo currently.. I can beat almost anyone on Console in a 1v1 arabia but some of these top 10 guys i have yet to beat ever. I haven't even seen Faith in the queue once. But yeah talent pool is smaller but more concentrated in my opinion. 1700 elo may seem low but they would be well over 2k with a pc since there are just more people to take elo from. Anyways thanks for carrying console Hera. Literally the go to for any new console player thats trying to learn the game

Is possible you need to try it out to see but if i remember correctly all villagers can work automatically thanks to an assisted ai but you can select a bunch or a single vill (for example ) depending if hold down a the "A" BUTTON or if you double tap a single unit all units of the same type are selected like in the PC but with buttons. Oh forgot to mention they have control groups too so micro is possible and with time can be as easy because you are only focused on military moves

@@shaguinman4239yes the AI is terrible though. Vils will waste resources and time like no other trying to shift from wood to gold to food to stone just to get the balance right. Because the auto AI is based on a ratio the player sets and it’s just bad tbh. Late game can help a bit I guess but early game it sets you back so far.

Sure, playing an RTS with a controller isn't as good as playing it with a mouse and keyboard, but Microsoft still did an amazing job making the controller experience as good as possible. They didn’t just implement some lazy button mappings and call it a day like many game devs do. Instead, they revamped the entire UI to make playing with a controller possible. They also added some automation to make controller gameplay less micro-intensive - e.g., they introduced auto-villager distribution, letting users define the percentage of villagers assigned to certain resources. There’s no way controller players can beat mouse and keyboard players at a pro level, but for casual play, the controller experience is pretty good - much better than anyone would expect.

Cool idea, but once the 2 players realize that they can mass 2x the army and push, either at a timing or at the end game when pop is 400vs 200. It is impossible for anyone to win 2v1 against players that have any idea what they are doing, even with 0 micro. This would need to be witha handicap for the solo player to be possible. That first game, the 2 players did not understand their win condition and once they did, it was no longer possible to win against them.

You can watch their streams and see that the UI is the Xbox interface, they are on controller. But the devs should implement what Age IV does by showing the pc or controller next to name.

That’s still not enough. You can still connect a mouse and keyboard to your Xbox, and you’ll be identified as an Xbox player. IMO, the game shouldn’t care at all about what platform you’re playing on. Instead, matchmaking should depend solely on the input device because, in the end, it doesn’t matter whether you’re playing on Xbox, Windows via the Xbox Store, or Steam - the only thing that matters is whether you’re controlling the game with a mouse and keyboard or with a controller.

Yes these players are well known xbox players. I'm pretty sure Faith even streamed his pov on twitch. I'm not sure about it, but i think he did. Or volcanloup. But either way, even if they didn't stream their pov they still are known in the xbox community for being the best. There is xbox tournaments and everything also where players are only allowed to use controller.

The PC players would win since it's much easier to play on a keyboard and mouse than it is to use a controller considering the mechanical limitations. It's easier to micro on a keyboard and mouse. It's very hard to micro effectively on a controller. Easier to hotkey and place buildings, soldiers etc accurately. It takes longer to highlight buildings to pump mils out. It can be tedious choosing the building you want to place since its easy to accidently flick the highlight with an analog stick from a lumber camp to a stone mill for example. They could allow Hera or 1 PC player against 2 xbox players but allow PC to have 400 villager limit to match, but on top of that with all the other advantages a PC player already has over a console player, it just becomes a waste of time.

That's a bit of a salty comment. Also very uneducated if you know anything about the game. If you're tricking the game to thinking you're on controller. You'd have to set your input to controller and thus use the controller UI. I can't see any way that would work with a mouse and keyboard. Especially the wheels for selecting things. As the other guy said, these guys didn't win through micro. They won with game knowledge, army numbers and pure aggression.
