This was my parents "song" they married in 1968. She passed away 1 year ago last week from a rare form of dementia called FTD/PPA. I cry every time I hear this beautiful song.

It was the summer of 68 and I was 8 years old the first time I heard this song. I was in a car with several teen age girls driving through the hills of the country side on a beautiful summer morning and this song came on the radio. It was the first time I ever heard it and all of the girls seemed excited to hear the song and started singing along. Some of the windows were down and their hair was blowing in the cool summer breeze and they sounded like angels. All I was thinking was I can't wait to get older and get a girl like one of these.

Trumpet player Herb Alpert is mostly known for his band Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and their catchy instrumental tunes such as "Spanish Flea" (1966), "Tijuana Taxi" (1965) and "Rise" (1979). He later co-founded A&M Records (home of the Carpenters, a solo Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers, and a young Janet Jackson) and became a gazillionaire. He and his wife are philanthropists who have donated tens and tens of millions of dollars to deserving organizations, charities and institutions over the decades.

For me this reminds me of the 1960s my mum played it constantly. Written by Burt Bacharach. Stay safe guys.

Herb Alpert was the "A" of A&M records that the Carpenters recorded for. He still tours with his wife and is an amazing trumpet player.

Beautiful tune written by a world class composer. Possibly one of the best of the twentieth century - Burt Bacharach!

This is one of many Burt Bacharach songs. He wrote many. Almost all fantastic. Dionne Warwick sang many of his songs. Herb Alpert also plays great instrumentals. Lonely Bull, and Taste of Honey two of many.

I may be wrong, but I think this was the first and only time he sang on record. He was strictly known as an instrumentalist, but he was handed this beautiful Burt Bacharach/Hal David tune. took a chance, and wound up with a number one record. He's not a good singer, but he sings with such simplicity and such sincerity, it works perfectly.

He's the only artist who got to nr 1 on Billboard with a vocal song and an instrumental, with Rise.

This is a rare occasion that Herb Alpert put his voice on record. He is not a singer, he has limited range. but this song suited his voice perfectly. Herb Alpert is famous as a trumpet player and a former co-owner and founder of A&M Records.

It all started as Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass (city just south of San Diego in Mexico) One of few songs where he sang most of his songs just had music in it.

Brings back memories, but for the wrong reasons! We had the record at home. It's a great song - but I remember it mainly because me and my young brother used to love playing it at 78 rpm (which makes it go faster) it sounded so funny and cute, like Disney animals were singing it!!! I can't hear it without thinking about chipmunks or something singing it!

Hi there!! Long time not heard this song, I'd forgotten at all. The arrangements are made by Burt Bacharach, you'll recognize it immediately. There's another song of the kind named The Look of Love, sung by Dusty Springfield. Highly recommended when you have the chance to play it. Regards from Venezuela
