RIP Burt Bacharach who wrote this song, one of the greatest songwriters ever, and one of Herb Albert songs where he actually sings, all of his hits were instrumentals until this song.

Burt Bacharack was a songwriter who wrote 73 top 40 US hits, most with Lyricist Hal David. Herb Alpert was a trumpet player and formed The Tijuana Brass that were mostly known for their instrumental hits.

Herb Alpert was first and foremost a trumpet player and band leader, but he sang on this one, just, well, just because he could. He was multi-talented, that way. Burt Bacharach wasn’t really a rock music composer but us rock fans highly respected him. He was a genius composer in his own incredible style.. Herb Alpert was also a genius musician/ composer. .

When I started playing trumpet in junior high school, I took to it very well…so my parents bought me a music book for trumpet filled with popular standards….this was one of them…I remember playing in my room at home and in the band room.

The “Burt” they mention is the great popular song writer Burt Bacharach…. I guarantee you’ve heard his songs in your life…..somewhere! He recently passed away.

The instrumental version of this song was played on MUZAK in the early 1970s. I still get a bit traumatized when I hear it from bad experiences at the dentist as a kid.

I enjoyed this review enormously. Herb Alpert (with a P not a B) is fabulous. A very handsome man and an incredibly accomplished musician. Dad played his greatest hits all the time when I was growing up ❤😊. Burt Bacharach's songs were recorded by, amongst many others, Dionne Warwick (Walk on By), Dusty Springfield (Son of a Preacher Man), and Diana Krall (The Look of Love). If I remember rightly, the song made famous by the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 'Raindrops keep falling on my Head', won an Oscar for the songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David 🎆 🎉❤.
