Heartwarming Moments as Bubi and Albino Elephant Baby, Khanyisa Splash & Swim in the Dam 💦

Filmed beside the waterhole as the herd frolic in the water, this scene shows the beautiful relationship between Khanyisa and her allomother Bubi! Khanyisa is like a Bubi mini-me as she copies Bubi’s splashes and water thrashes, before joining Bubi by her side as the bigger elephant kneels in the water to cover her underside well.
Klaserie, who is also a dedicated allomother to the young calf, keeps watch over Khanyisa too, with mother Setombe close by! It’s interesting to watch Bubi’s efforts to urge Khanyisa to stand up once she’s ready to move on - trunk and feet are involved, all while not hurting the calf.

Apparently baby elephants are very important to the morale of a herd. From the young to the very old. It reminds me of when grandparents complain of aches and pains yet the moment the grandchild arrives they are up and dancing or running or playing hide n seek

Yeah, I think as another post stated it is extremely important to the morale of elephants. I wonder what will occur with that morale once khanysia is Timisa age or older? It's like they know if we don't have babies we as a Herd die out.

Bubi is wise here, along with teaching and playing with khanysia. Khanysia really sees Bubi as a Mom, cause she copied to her best ability Bubi's playing in the water. Bubi knew that the way to get a baby elephant to play w/you is to try and become smaller, and allow khanysia to jump on her. So she gets down on all fours in that unusual position for a grown elephant, and as the phrase says...khanysia ate it up. Khanysia tried to climb on Bubi, she cuddled up to her over and over, and both of them had some super duper playtime. Bubi is so aware, so beautiful, so sensitive to herself and others. That's why she and Fishan are BFF. Both have the same characteristics. The concern Setombe and klassare showed towards khanysia was just so tender, and when Bubi still in the water looked at khanysia and carefully assessed that she was fine was just So Endearing. Khanysia lays down in the water, and three adults make sure she's OK. Bubi then does that backward walk out of respect for bigger and older Setombe. It's all so subtle, they rarely give outright signals in their day to day relationships.
