The Columbus was so named because it came out in 1992, the 500th anniversary of Columbus' first trip to the Americas. Also, it apparently is actually ON DISPLAY in the Italdesign museum, at least as of a couple of years ago. If somebody could get the cargo volume behind the last row of seats for the Columbus, it would be greatly appreciated. I've looked and looked, but I can't find it. I think the last 3 letters of the name are a wordplay. Nothing to do with a ship.
@00Zy99 Жыл бұрын
Incredibly, the Columbus apparently DID run, with a five-speed manual. And it was less a minivan and more of a full-size van (a la E-series or Sprinter). It was intended for mass-production, and would have been a cut-away behind the upper level. Also, the lower-level seats swiveled (and each seat had its own VHS). @@marcelhannover3 Look at the insignia on the rear flank. The white shape forming the "C" has a red Maltese Cross. That represents the sail on Columbus' ships, which also had a red Maltese Cross. edit: How did this not post and just sit here as a draft for months?
@marcelhannover3 Жыл бұрын
@@00Zy99 In many european languages they call this type of vehicle a bus (or minibus, small bus etc.) - "van" is also used but more associated with cargo though both are often used interchangable. However I am quite sure in this case they must have thought what is a great name for this bus... and someone in the team came up with columBUS, possibly because they read about the 500 year anniversary. It is hard to imagine that they wanted to honour columbus and then came up with this.

I didn't want to entertain people's comments on other videos regarding having Keenan on garage videos, but this convinced me. This is where he shines

These are great! I wish you did more on a single shot and released them everyday there isn't a main video to fill the gaps of the week.

Does anyone remember the Bugatti 16C Galibier concept from 2011ish? I remember reading about it in a dupont registry magazine as a kid, i haven't seen a cooler looking sedan since, especially the press pics where it was shown in black with the saddle leather interior.

I got to see an F50 and a McLaren F1 in person in Columbus in 2022. Absolutely amazing experience for me. I grew up with posters and Calendars of them on my wall, and never thought I would ever see them in person. Icons!

Bro the Exelero, wow, it came like a sentimental truck to my mind with a smile to my face as you were pronouncing it's name. As a kid I thought it was the greatest of them all, the design was too beautiful. Till this day I love that car.

You guys should make some of your driving dreams happen. Start with the track day, then use Doug's influence and wealth to get access to these insane cars. Keep ticking that bucket list off and make content out of it.

I miss one car on your list. The Isdera Autobahnkurier. One out of one. 10 liter V16. Soooo many quirks and features. I would love to see Doug testing it.
