Ya they go kind of nuts with these size tanks they want you to get for tangs. I wouldn't suggest a yellow tang sized fish though for anything under 65 gallons they do get kind of big. I've breed and kept lots of Discus, Angelfish, and others fish around that size and a 20g just doesn't give them enough maneuvering room with their larger body sizes. If any of you want a tang for a smaller 29g-55g tank (please stay 29g+) I'd suggest a bristle tooth tang of some kind. They only grow about 4 inches maximum and would be fine maneuvering in a 29g+.

I have kept a yellow tang in a 20 g for 2 yrs Very healthy happy beautiful little tang. Where is the scientific evidence? The only reason I don’t have him in there today is because I had to break down my tank. I think it’s a matter of common sense. If u see it is growing or not doing well definitely put it in a bigger tank, but if u r successful why r there so many haters out there. I think it is ridiculous.

I forgot to mention this was kind of accidental not on purpose that I was successful in having a yellow tang in a nano because my husband wanted a purple tang and we all know how that story goes unless u have a very large tank,etc or put them in at the same time. So I thought it would be temporary but it didn’t grow n acted very happy n healthy so I kept it for about 2yrs....long story but it’s ridiculous to think something can’t be done. Obviously it’s got to be very small n healthy to even attempt this.

It is all about observing your fish. If they look stressed out and are pacing, it is too small. Your fish will tell you.

Depends on how big he is and if he is stressed out. If he is not pacing the glass but is instead happily poking about for algae then he is fine. When he get bigger you can grow you tank size with him.

Quarantine in a stocked tank. That's an oxymoron. No tang police here bit that makes no sense. Then stick you hand in the tank to add more stress in a fish already stressed out being in that small tank. Why not just do a stock 40 gallon breeder for a QT where it's not stressed. QT doesn't have to be stressful to a fish. Glad you moved it but this QT isn't a quarantine of any type. Did you find flukes, euromenia, ich or velvet? Good luck. I hope it did well once in a more suitable tank but the video makes no sense no matter how you spin it or talk it up.

Quarantine does not require medication. Observation is the minimum requirement. However, I do prefer to treat prophylactically now and you are right, you can’t do that in this set up.
