The LG4 305 is rated at 140hp. The L69 305 in the 1983 to 1988 Monte Carlo was rated at 180hp and 190hp in the Z28. The difference was the camshaft...the compression ratio...improved cylinder heads..and some tuning. The Tuned Port 305 went on to make 220hp in the 5speed Irocs....Racesaver Sprint Car 305s make around 450 to 474hp The biggest drag on the Grand Camino is the probably 2.41 rear ratio rear while the SS and GN had 3.42. I agree with keeping the 305. I am sad that it isn't the TPI, not that it makes it all that more power, but the TPI looks absolutely beautiful when you lift the hood. Im sure I am with all the other Gbody guys cringing at the ignorance here. I am usually ignorance correctly, not as an insult. It is clearly on the Elco chassis, which runs on an 8-inch longer wheelbase. The floors were a dead giveaway (on a regular Regal/Malibu etc would not have that much room between the rear footwell and the muffler body of those 13.5" long Flowmasters). 2nd, the extentions welded on the front for the deeper GN nose are also a giveaway. I think its cool and looks well done from what I can tell. Look into the Jeep steering shaft retrofit for more direct steering to get rid of the rubber disc joint.
