I appreciate what the guy says about towing. Just because another truck has 300lbs or 1000lbs on you, doesn’t mean it’s fun doing that. And if you’re consistently towing 12000lbs then you should probably be driving an HD truck in the first place. 1/2 ton trucks are more for daily driver convenience, capability, and reliability than a max tow rating. I’m hopeful this truck has all of that and is extremely successful.

I’ll take a lunar rock SR5 TRD Sport Crew Max long bed with a side of extended warranty for that Turbo to go please. Oh and can you throw in a bunch of napkins to catch my tears when I cry over dealer markup… thanks

Better get extended warranty on the paint. If they have that I’ll buy a new one as well. I’m still in a 2006😂

Andre- I've has my problems with a lot of TFL stuff, but you did a brilliant job on the Tundra launch. You've asked a lot of great questions, and Sweers went into detail on many questions I had, especially about the frame and engines. I'm an auto journalist myself (I've been doing cars and motorcycles for over 20 years), and although I rarely go to launches these days due to time constraints, hopefully we'll run into each other one day and I can share a beverage. Keep up the great work-

I have the new 2022 Toyota Tundra with two wheel drive and my two big serious issues occur when I'm towing a travel trailer. The first serious issue occurs when I try and go up a gravel road on a grade and the tires start spinning. What happens, is that the traction control will engage and keep slowing down the vehicle every time a tire slips and it keeps slowing down all the way to the point where the engine bogs down and you literally cannot move. I tried disengaging the traction control completely even following KZbin reviews on how to do this but for some reason the system is programmed to come back on after few seconds automatically, whether I turn it back on or not. This is very very bad and dangerous when you need traction the most on a gravel road going up an incline. I literally had to back the trailer down a blind turn for 200 ft, twice because I attempted to go back up again with chains and that didn't improve the situation at all. This issue needs to be fixed by Toyota. You could literally become trapped when you're towing a trailer on a winding narrow Gravel Road. And the second issue also occurs only when you're pulling a trailer. And that is when I'm trying to use Lane Trace control where the steering wheel will actually keep you in the lane. But, when you plug in to the trailer wiring harness it will suddenly go off and there is absolutely no way to turn it back on while you're hooked up to a travel trailer and this is a bad feature also because this is when I needed the lane tracing the most, so that I won't be muscling the steering wheel as I have severe arthritis in both hands. I've had the lane tracing feature on other Toyotas that I added aftermarket Towing and I was able to still use the lane tracing, which was a big help in pulling a trailer. What were these engineer programmers thinking when they decided to automatically disengage Lane tracing when your Towing??? I don't get it! Don't they test this out in the real world before they decide to commit to these changes? Would you please do a review of this situation towing a trailer for yourself so you can see what I mean? And do it with a two-wheel drive Tundra, as I don't think you're going to have this problem with four-wheel drive as you can disengage the traction control system on four-wheel drive. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Rod Terrell

Great interview. It’s always nice to hear from Mike. This man is a genius. The work his team has done with the third generation Tacoma and the new Tundra is amazing. I can hardly wait and see what his team does with the four generation Tacomas.

I'm still shocked that no competitors are trying to copy Ford's pro power feature. It just seems like such an obviously practical and hugely useful feature that it would be hard for me to justify buying a truck without it when I could just get the F-150.
@BullittKid083 жыл бұрын
Adding that feature might have affected reliability/complexity and eventually the price. Who knows, could be offered down the road as a future option
@iskdude99223 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats a game changer. If the tundra added that it would be perfect.

@@andyd5492 would be even better. Drop down rear window + toyota reliability. If you need more than 12k towing you really need a 3/4 ton or higher.
