I have the older S3 8p manual, only drive at weekends so little traffic and about 6k miles a year, enjoy a clean licence but always 1st away from the lights, constantly acheive 35 mpg and have seen 45 mpg over a 50 mile run , £300 a year to insure, £250 to service with Haldex oil change @ Central VW Audi Bham, and possibly £500 / year on brakes and tyres. So you can run an S3 on a budget (when you get old !).
@GolfR-xm5yv7 жыл бұрын
Hi TR Hamza, thanks for your video. I own a 2016 Golf R DSG, which is a similar car to the S3, I've just had my first service and covered just over 10K. I paid for a 2 year VW service plan which was £287 Inc VAT. I drive the car pretty hard but I am no where near needing to change the tyres, I do understand it comes down to the individual driving the car. My long term fuel economy is 27 mpg, I do commute on motorways and a dual carriage way which does make a difference, I also believe the DSG gearbox gives me a much better fuel return than a manual as it's doing gear selection at the right time. I think the S3 and R are great cars and would highly recommend both of them. Cheers.

180!!! Had mine 3.5 years and averaged 32mpg from a tank so near 300 a tank. I drove mostly in comfort though lol as traffic in berks is a nightmare, drove in dynamic 25% of the time. I did manage 42mph over 90 miies in eco mode but driving at near 60 mph on the motorway lol. The one and only time i used eco mode. Never again. Agreed michelin sport 4 are way better than the awful continentals that came with my audi. Grip is miles better. The continentals lasted about 15k miles I think. Rs3 2017 dynamic is way better than the dynamic on the s3.

Good video, those Audi costs for an s3 do add up. For £120 those tyres add on decent grip. Living costs, car Insurance, and now that it’s the first year. It’ll have Road tax on. But won’t be under the higher VED like a 17 Reg S3.
@sunsnowguy6 жыл бұрын
This is very much based on city type driving which is fine but I just picked up a 4 year old S3 from down near Banbury and drove it up to Glasgow, 350 miles on just under a tank, I had the driving mode set to 'efeciancy' but even at that from around Wigan I didn't hold back.. so I was well impressed with the fuel consumption.. mind you I e had a 3.2 V6 for 12 years 😁 and that's the only thing I will say about the S3 is the fake/enhanced noise inside the cab, sooo missing the growl of my V6 but then I always knew that'd be the case. Still.. loving the S3 so far

A3 s line saloon - driving in auto mode usually getting About 30mpg easily inner city 40mpg when I hit dual carriage ways etc Don’t touch dynamic mode personally. Efficiency doesn’t deliver enough power for me personally and also seems to be less fuel efficient than Auto Just for a diff perspective on the fuel efficiency. Informative video bro. I've had my facelift S3 since April this year and like you I've had to have my front brake pads AND discs changed (mine were actually warped though from heavy braking lol). Bit disappointing really as the car hasn't even done 10k mileage. Brakes seem to be a weak point for sure. The rear pads are looking low aswell now so will have to be changed soon. Regardless of all that , my car is currently in the dealership right now with a gearbox ( s tronic) failure. Randomly zonked out at a red light with a red cog on the dash. Audi have authorised an entire gearbox replacement so not really what you expect from a brand new Audi S model. Cemented my decision to get rid of it next year and upgrade to an M3 😁
@TRHamza7 жыл бұрын
Thank you bro. Seems like our cars are in quite similar situations apart from that S tronic failure! I somethings feel that its probably going to happen to mine soon, since the coolant issue I've kinda lost faith in the car. And yes M3 is definitely the one, proper performance machine :)
@royalstevep687 жыл бұрын
ASRmann hmm, my mate went from an rs3 8P to a 2015 m3 but he got rid of it after a year saying it's overrated. Rwd and an auto box don't mix on uk roads and weather and so he got an m2 instead which although rwd is manual so easier to control. Sure you switch the m3 to manual but he felt it just didn't feel right.
@jonnygti6 жыл бұрын
TR Hamza what’s that issue then? My BMW is in the garage today because the coolant was leaking from a broken pipe, but then it’s to be expected for a 16 year old car with 150k on it! Lol. What’s up with yours then? EDIT, commented before watching the video and heard you said you made videos on the coolant issues, I’ll have a look
@heliurgutierrez74576 жыл бұрын
Lol please don’t. If you feel like the S3 has multiple failures then don’t get an M3. That thing is gonna spend more time broke on your garage or on the dealership than running safe and sound.

Can’t wait to get rid of the Bridgestones on my facelift. Terrible tyre. Don’t know why Audi put them on. But they have done with every S3 generation, I think. But have to say, you’ve been had on the disks. There’s no way you should need new disks in the first year, 9000 miles. You must do some heavy braking!!! 😀 I mainly do town driving and regularly see 23mpg on average and 250-260 miles to a tank. But get the car on a motorway and drive fairly efficiently and you’ll see 35-40mpg and even 400 miles from a tank. Amazing engine.

Totally against independent garages. My audi was faulty so i gave it in to an independent garage but got it back even more faulty, so i had to pay another few hundred quid to get it repaired properly from audi, and its not just my first expereince.
@TRHamza7 жыл бұрын
+Boss 245 Not repairs, general maintenance from a specialist is fine. For any repairs my car goes back to Audi.
@5hah1297 жыл бұрын
TR Hamza Even though, I think paying the extra money at audi for any genral maintenance or repairs is worth it because I cannot trust private garages to do anything properly or to the same level of quality as audi does their work. Especially these ones in Bradford, you can never trust them.

Evening mate So I own a 7.5R, and I've been watching your videos quite closely purely for the S3 vs R7.5 comparison. The first thing (I think I repeat from another video) is do you actually like the Audi handling? I have driven a few Audi's as regular cars, including a TT, TTS, A4, A4 Technique Quattro, and Q5 Quatto, but have also been a Scirocco GT owner. I've test driven an A3 and S3 and the steering is so lackluster that I just couldn't look at them. I love my bendy B roads and any Audi built in the last 10 years seems to suffer with the emotionless lackluster steering that they all seem to be cursed with these days. I'd love to know your view, but it seems like VAG has decided they will work to the "Straight Lines are for fast cars, Bendy Roads are for fast drivers" ethic and build performance Audi's to be nothing but M3 beaters... (in other words, fast in a straight line, rubbish in real driving) I'm about 40 miles out from London (W), we should hook up for a car swap and actual road test.

Odd how audi changed the tyres on the s3. On my s3 2014 8v they came with contintentals which were ok but way better than Bridgestone. I was gonna get the Michelin supersports but the Michelin pilot 4 had just come out and were highly rated and cheaper than the near impossible to get Michelin supersports. Opted for them and like you said they've transformed the car. Michelin have always made the best tyres.

9500 hard miles by the sounds of it! Original pads and discs for that money you paid? Must be sitting on that brake peddle to cook them in under 10000 miles! Like the vid mate but you are pissing money away! I’m getting 27 mpg on a day of dynamic mode and downshifting, and typically sit around 32 on regular town/ brief dual carriage way driving .. Cambridge to London once every couple of months 40 -44 mpg with cruise on, £50 every 8days or so in fuel , be interesting to see how long those pads and tyres last you 👍🏼
