Here’s my thoughts on the 2023 Sportster S

btw for the key fob recommend changing the battery every 4-6 months, it happened to me til I changed the battery. Also the bike has a pin that is easy to setup if you forget your key. Check the manual, but in order to access you just got to turn it on and within like 2 seconds flip the turn signal switch to the left, then right, then left. should turn on and ask for a pin. Also for the price might be higher, but the insurance is alot cheaper than a 600. its 60 a month full coverage for a 20 year old, me. that same insurance was 215 a month for a 2004 Buell xb12s.

Im aware of the pin, i still think its silly to not just use a normal key, call me “old school” lmao, and as far as insurance, im 24 with a 106 through Harley Davidson its self, and 177 through progressive, but progressive kinda sucks

@@ShitzBroken IMO the fob is as the same pros and cons as the key, especially now where even the key is programmed to the bike like a car. Also that’s weird man, Harley quoted me 50 bucks a month, and State Farm is 60. Then again tho, I do have a clean record so that is probably why it is cheap

I went back and forth between a 24 sportster S and a 24 nightster S. Ended up going with the Nightster and have no regrets. Play in Sportsmode and you’ll have a hard time getting off your bike

Test ride the low rider s which has twin front discs. After that, you will really wonder why they don’t put them on all of their bikes..

It has the Brembo package. Comparing the stopping capability to a 600cc with ABS is would say the bike definitely needs two front rotors for sure!

I like your bike, really cool looking! I agree with you about the front brake, especially on a 1250 engine. The higher price of the bike is because of two things. "H" and "D" 😂

I too got a 2023 Sportster S! I completely agree with the brake fade, it gets iffy for sure. Also what mods did you do on your baby? She looks different! Edit: One other gripe I’ve got is that there is no quickshifter mods/options available. Banging on those gears full throttle is really annoying clutching, and I’ve been doing clutchless to compensate.

What? The key fob is not the only way to start a key less Harley. You should be able to hold down the both left and right turn signal buttons and get a 5 digit a screen on the dash to put in your master code. Harley has a standard code for new bikes that you are supposed to personalize when you get the new bike. If you lose the fob you have the code to get you home . If you lose the fob and don't know the code they will have to install a new security module and remarry it to the computer. This is expensive, your new bike code from the dealer is usually 31313 you better figure that sht out before your FOB takes dump or you lose it. Also realize your bike will get pinched sooner or later if you leave that dealer code on it.

I tried to start the bike without the key fob a few times and it won’t let me put the code in. It flashed the screen to enter it for like a second, then immediately turns back off

Ive tried to do the code a few time just to familiarize myself with it. The screen turns on, shows the screen to put the code in, none of the buttons work, then turns back off😅

0:34 single rotor with dual piston caliper should be fine. My 1996 XL1200S has dual rotors with single calipers on each. No one whom rides knows how to use the front brake. The only people that know front brakes are the stunt riders and that take hundreds of hours of practice and pain.

My Bandit 1200 was 540lbs and had dual disk six piston brakes and you needed it.

So, I too own a a sportster s and just recently drove from Omaha Ne to Des Moines Ia and back on mostly back roads on my sportster s which is just over 2 plus hours one way, and had absolutely no “brake fade”! Also, would down shift and rev match also reduce the amount of “brake fade” as well? Sounds like someone might be using their front brake more than they should be if you ask me.

Rev matching on downshifts, you’re probably just not paying as much attention to it. Brake are brakes. Having a 500lb bike stopping on only 1 brake rotor in the front will cause brake fade, more than a bike with 2 in the front Im also talking from a aggressive riding point of view.

What an odd thing to say. You're not riding your bike aggressive enough we're having two front brake discs is going to matter. I can guarantee on the street having one break desk is not going to prevent you from riding the way you like

For what it is! Ive seen WAAAYYY worse. With it being metal it also provides a little bit of protection of someone rear ends me at a stop light I dont like the rear hugger/fender but i dont mind this one

What category does the Sportster S fall under? Naked bike? Café bike? Flat tracker? Definitely not a cruiser in the sense that the new Scout 101 is.
